Breakfast should start at 7am at least. It wasn't too long ago in the past that they had early breakfast as normal on bank holidays. Live daytime output starting at 8am on a national BBC station is a pretty poor show... Surely it would've made more sense to do Breakfast 7-11, then daytime 11-3, and Going Home 3-6?  

You'll be pleased to hear that for the Bank Holiday after Big Weekend the timings are slightly better. TBC presenters. 8am-12pm 12pm-4pm 4pm-8pm 22nd-24th May Greg James/James Cusack will be on until 11am Big Weekend shows start from 11am

There's definitely something in Jerry getting a bigger role on Radio 1 in future. Considering he's a specialist presenter on Radio 1 and 1Xtra.. the amount he's been on daytime Radio 1, it would be odd if it doesn't lead to something.

Would also add that contrary to the views of a lot of people on these forums I think if Vick and Jamie went Jerry is far more likely than Emil- he fits the Radio 1 brand, younger talent etc much more.

I agree Emil is good but he isn't anywhere near as popular as Vick and Jamie. Appreciate you don't like them but as I said above, clearly audiences do and I doubt they'll be changing the show anytime soon. 

A phased return for a job that one of them barely turns up for? Their job is to present a radio show for 2 and 1/4 hours, 4 days a week. I might sound harsh but it’s not like they are returning to an 40+ hour desk job. They may well be on a phased return and I am in no position to judge nor would I want but I do wonder. A phased return should consist of gradually increasing one’s hours. They appear to be performing their other duties outside of R1 judging by social media. On popularity, they might be popular. I would imagine they are otherwise they would not be on the station. I also suspect there are lots of other ‘popular’ presenters who would jump at the chance to present on world famous Radio 1 and who could commit themselves to the show and make it a roaring success. Vick and Jamie’s schedules don’t align. I’m afraid to say the current show in its current format doesn’t work. I do not believe it will change until they amend the presenting lineup and create some proper features. You would not realise that it’s supposed to be the second biggest show on the station on listening to it. I might sound harsh but as a listener I’m sick and tired of it. I have to force myself to listen to it. Time for a change. Thinking outside the box, give Emil Frenchi the show! Anyway, that’s my 5p.

Why do they still work there? Becasue they are popular. They're still on a phased return after maternity / paternity leave. As for moving Katie to weekends, clearly she doesn't deserve that. I suspect audience research is vastly different from what you wrote there...
