I take the point re James (though two weeks of drive isn’t a bad send off), but Bank Holiday Breakfast in audience terms is like being on 5-7am on a weekday so nothing special. -

And now we have a Dean breakfast show and Nat covering (I know it’s a bank holiday but still) a few days before they leave the station. Very strange state of affairs. It’s almost like the management think they’ve made the wrong decision in getting rid of those presenters -

Most strange to have someone leaving the station cover Going Home for 2 weeks and are Radio 1 feeling ok, having a solo presenter present a show 😱

I know it's not exactly normal circumstances, but it doesn't really fit with what usually goes at Radio 2. Daytime slots very rarely go to outsiders. At the very least it's someone who has done loads of cover work. I can't think of anyone in the Radio world who they'd be willing to poach. I agree it would probably be announced by now if it was OJ though, which is a shame. His overnight show already sounds like like a ready made show that could be parachuted into drivetime. That said, it does seem odd he hasn't been called upon to do at least a week on drive, despite previously being the main stand in. With budgets being tightened at the BBC, i'd be surprised if it was a celebrity 'name'. I include the existing celebrity weekend presenters on Radio 2 being promoted. -
And that was a more extreme presenter shift than any of the examples I listed. -
It really feels like Radio 2 is getting a name from elsewhere for Drive, otherwise OJ would have been announced by now.

31st August (Bank Holiday) Connor Phillips in for Richie Anderson OJ Borg in for Sara Cox Gary Davies in for Vernon Kay Tuesday 1st-Friday 4th September Tina's in for Jeremy that week. Gary Davies is on drivetime. Spoony in for Trevor, and Melvin in for Spoony on Good Groove continues.
