agree. lots on here and ds said the same about james after his month of cover so its great they took him on board and we get to have him reguarly plus a deserved continuation of 3 days for sam and danni. both seem popular, very good changes and hires and might this be the first time forums have been fairly happy ? 😂 jerry has also been very strong when given exposure on daytime, that will be brilliant cover

agree I still think James cusack is by far the strongest from his month in june and its easy to see why he came out on top by a long way of the favourite r1 cover presenter poll. Dont get me wrong I think some of the others have come on but you would expect them to with lots of shows. If james did end up with the 1-4 weekend slot they would need the next crop to cover plus any other weekend shows therefore its important that most have sounded good. I've said this before when he was paired with vicky, I've listened to emil on absolute and he is good on there but find him to skew a bit old in terms of content and talking points on r1

radio 1 overall is the leader at getting the tone right and handling news like this we had oj on overnight and thought he also did a really good job of it

it could be that the summer on radio 1 thinking has been finished because its october and theres another presenter but under a different show title. weekend afternoons on radio 1? lol how do you mean probably wasted space saying james?

Its difficult to figure what the hold up has been wit h this show. I think we can all safely say this is the last of the summer on radio 1 rotation. Its clearly autumn outside and to call it autumn on radio 1 may be seen as silly. Swarzy was ok with vicky but they could have just been giving 1xtra presenters a chance when cover work comes up like they have nikita from time to time. Maybe Im remembering how busy and fun matt and mollies weekend shows were but being totally honest james was the standout for me, its felt theres been a lacking on other shows so for my money its him or like was said above the wildcard or poaching

Agree a full time move for rmc to Fridays could be a potential. So could Nat and vicky into the 1-4 show 3 days and then James cusack in weekends 1030-1 saturday and sunday. Someone has just text r1 saying can you do 2 hour siesta and joel read it out. That is one of james's features lol

It was a really good first show from them. Whilst in the end we did listen to d&v at work, I'm much happier that its matt and mollie now and its good to see a bit of natural balance happening and presenters being where they should be on r1. The choice of first song which they must have picked was also funny

I hope its James cusack and he's certainly on plenty at the moment. Lets be honest does the station need another weekend duo or is it refreshing to have a singular presenter every now and again? I think we can all agree Katie was more than capable of doing the weekend shows by herself and you only have to listen to one show from james to work out he is. Weekends are already duo heavy with Sam and danni followed by Vicky and Nat, plus Lauren and shenqua on Sundays. Does it need to be james and another presenter (??) on top of that. Imo he more than keeps up the quality of shows by himself. Around a year ago wasn't it singular presenter Adele followed by singular presenter Katie so the presenter load has doubled in them 2 shows alone, plus the additional presenter on the noughties show when Nat has actually been fine by herself for a long time. I dont think my theory of him being held up with other work is correct anymore, but I do hope its james. His shows far overtake other covers in terms of entertainment

What stuck out to me is there's no mention of danny beard anywhere after next weekend, so maybe they have heard enough from him now

I often see jerry pushing his club nights, they look fun. Also katie does some other bbc tv work, so it seems to be the norm. Isn't it our version of a side hustle
