Global IS an advertising business - the radio shows just fit around the commercials.
-
I heard an advert on Capital earlier for the new show. Some sketch about not knowing what all the buttons did, but I wasn't listening properly.

Think that Radio 1 really needed this week, charity aside, to come together again. I don’t think they ever diverged, but the Jordan news I think was challenging and as a listener this week has secured that perception of the family again.

It did cross my mind when James Cusack had him on last week to talk about the Brits…

I’m quite sure that Jamie is playing a bit of a character, a bit of a fool and I imagine that on some level the intention is to be an everyman – most listeners don’t know late afternoon is usually the second biggest show, about RAJARs or whatever. And they’ve obviously decided to pitch this as Jamie joining two regulars, which makes sense. Of course he knows about the show features. Apart from cover, they’ve done demo shows. I think a lot of people want him to fail and are predisposed to think the worst of him, but it surprises me that people are buying the ‘fool’ persona so readily.

What’s this hand holding term you’ve started? It’s a bit insulting. I don’t think it’s hand holding, it’s clearly to create a different kind of show, quite intentionally. It might not be your preference but I think the term hand holding is a bit much

I just got married and took a month off work, I didn’t go on Celebrity Big Brother.

I really don't understand why people think this means Dean might be the next breakfast presenter, or even a stand in? Sure, he's done Breakfast a few times now – but the early breakfast presenter has never been the breakfast cover presenter on anything except an emergency basis (late presenter, really last minute sickness). I've not enjoyed the afternoon show, but I don't mind Dean – yet it's hard to see this as anything but a lesser show.

Blimey. Shocked. He must be off to another network given the nature of the announcement.

It’s fascinating that the Archers is in the number one spot for under 35s.

I used to hate the chart growing up. I found it super boring, and I kind of resented the feeling that I was supposed to care how popular these songs were. I grew to like it more under Greg, and then more again under Scott. Having given it a bit of thought recently, I think I know why. It's because I know these presenters for more than the chart show. For me, presenters like Reggie, JK and Joel, Jameela Jamal… I wanted to get to know them a bit more, but the pesky chart format got in the way. Does that make any sense?

I don’t think so, it’s just taken from the press image used when the new show was announced.

Why do you always refer to her as Annie Macmanus? ?
