    • Scott for me was the one who got my invested in radio. I'd listened on and off for years for different shows and stations but nothing stuck and I remember tuning into r1when Scott was on a afternoon show with chappers and laughing so much and been following him since and dragged me to r2 whenever he covered there and eventually full time and defended him against trolls who didn't want him on r2 as wasn't the right fit and to give him time to settle in and show his class. As I've got more into radio I've heard nothing but compliments from other presenters saying Scott was the reason they do it too like Steve Wright was for Scott and how every idea or fun thing to do Scott has done it 1st so it shows how valuable and loved he is and how he launched Chappers and Starks careers among others behind the scenes. Wouldn't blame him if he went abroad to do radio for a while as he has a global fan base or doing something for Eurovision hq. Ideally I'd like a bombeleo podcast with Chris for a while. Just hope he is getting whatever support he can and can come back stronger eventually
    • Really well put. You’ve said a lot what I think and feel but couldn’t get my words together to write. I hope Scott and his family do know that there are a lot of people that still care a lot about him.
    • Agree with this... It feels to me that they were worried the story/information posed a reputitional risk and acted. It also seems that on the surface they have done the right thing by their standards but with little information and this so called "vacum" it has only made the situation worse for all involved. I agree with the Vine sentement they are doing now what they wished they had done to others. It is a real shame for Scott and I just hope they are taking care of him and Sam and the potential complainant. Not forgetting Sam is BBC staff as well on production side, so his role is no doubt affected by these events. They mentioned new information, which could have been the Mirror about to break the story and the BBC made a deal with them to give them a few days to investigate the matter then the Mirror could break the news. Above all, I feel so sorry for all involved, it is a tragety for all of them, Sam and Teddy included and not fotgetting his wider family, his parents are both still alive ableit seperated, and in their 70s/80s and his elder brother and family as well. I just hope Scott can find some way of coming back on air. I feel we will not see or hear of him for a few years now, certianly not this side of Christmas, and he must be totally devestated that his dream job was snatched away in an instant. I know he reads here as does Greg and Jordan, maybe not at the moment but he has done before, so I hope he can see the majority of his fanbase and listeners are behind him.  I think this has hit this community harder this time because of who it is, and the fact we all love and admire and aspire to him, and that it's kocked us for six. I am just so sorry for those affected by it, all of them, and hope it kind of blows over so he can have a period away from the spotlight and recover his career.
    • Bit of heavy post this but felt the need for a bit of balanced perspective... It should be noted that many of us can be fired by our employers for behaviour that wouldn't result in a criminal conviction.   Even without there being sufficient evidence for a prosecution, there may be sufficient evidence for the BBC to have decided that Scott had crossed a line.   This is a fantastically awful area of the law, there is a difference between insufficient evidence for a prosecution and saying you are not guilty of what has been accused of you.  There have been cases of men (and women) accused of things where it was better to go to court and the accuser proved to have been lying.  (That said there are no winners here and we must always think of the victims of crime first and in this case we shouldn't assume the accuser isn't a victim of something).  We talk of innocent unless proven guilty but the world isn't really like that, even people who have been fully cleared and their accuser proved of lying are damaged goods. It's a huge tragedy for Scott and he could well be a victim too in this especially if you know anything of a world where teen boys show an interest in older men and need pushed away (has happened to me in online Apps and you have needed to block and report). As I say, in the absence of the full facts, we can't and shouldn't judge Scott but equally I am just saying, I suspect the BBC know enough to think that they couldn't keep working with him.  It's not as straightforward as saying "he wasn't convicted of a crime so shouldn't have been fired".  It feels like the BBC without quite saying it are saying "Scott found himself in a situation that we can't have one of our highest profile presenters in". Even if Scott had a lapse of judgement here, we can't imagine the pure hell he is going through. By all accounts he is a decent guy.  It's a lazy online world that throws out labels for his assumed behaviour and associating him with some truly vile people when it's clear he isn't like them.   The biggest question for the BBC to answer is - exactly why now?  If he was going to be fired over this why wasn't he fired at the time?  It is very surprising he wasn't suspended whilst the investigation took place.
    • Surely OJ Borg would be an easy replacement on Drive or Mid-Mornings?
    • Huw was suspended as he was arrested and it was a live investigation into him. Huw also was never sacked as he resigned down the line. I think this is partly down to whether the police told the BBC the boy was under 16 or did they say an illegal relationship in the 90s and whether Scott at the time said the boy was 16 or 17 and upon the law changing was safe. If Scott said to BBC bosses that he has been interviewed for a relationship for a 17yo and left out the police think the boy is under 16 then he's purposely misled them. But either way the case was dropped and that should have been that. They are saying the new bosses didn't know of any investigation in Scott and previous bosses hadn't mentioned it but Im not sure it matters as case was dropped
