    • It's going to be Sara Cox all the way, trust me, it's the only way the BBC can go with it, she is safe, reliable, knows the show, knows the team, and listeners know her. They will not want to rock the boat anymore. I am saying "when" she moves not "if" as I am confident it will be, what happens to Drive, OJ, Spoony or someone new maybe (Zoe Ball comeback?)
    • comments seem to thinks he's radio 2 bound
    • It won't be him, he has a contract with ITV for This Morning he is still in, and has to cover that on a Friday and when the usuals are on leave
    • Ah there we are then, thanks for the clarification.  Also of note........ this is why Moyles was not allowed to appear on a "rival" brand until 2015. he had signed a new contract in 2011 for R1 up to December 2014. This meant that even after he finished breakfast and was offered the late night slot on R1 and Sounds of the 80s on R2 as a package, he decined and was on "gardening leave" from September 2012 until December 2014, and low and behold come 2015 he appears on Radio X. Moyles was never in breach of his contract ergo remained under BBC rules for that period of time.  Now when Mistajam left R1, that was quicker. I would imagine his contract was coming to an end and he likely secured the role at Global some months before to effectively run and manage Cap Dance, which he has done a blinding job of (he is the station manager there I believe, or certinaly was when it started and he was in charge of programming etc as well as being a DJ) so when his BBC Contract came up for renewal he would have gone into negoitations and said he wanted to end it on that date in 2020 and move on (wow that is six years ago), again not in breach. The same goes for Ken Bruce, who was coming up for renewal and left for a rival brand.  Steve Wright was different, he was still in contract for SWITA even when Scott took over, and was being paid as such for the remaining time he was there, it may have changed mid way through before he passed to reduce to Sundays and specials, but largely he was still being paid for his weekday slot.  The Grimmy and Greg swap happened mid contract as well, which is why Grimmy just saw out his current breakfast contract on drive and it changed to Vick and Jordan post covid.  In Scott's case, it seems the BBC found him in some kind of breach of a clause of his contract that caused them to enact the termination clause, it may have only been one small timy clause, but still a broken contract is a broken contract. With these types of contract there is no "hearing" or "process" once it is breached it will be down to a board and likely signed off by the DG to terminate it. This is why it was so quick. I was in the pub earlier and someone (knowing I am in radio) spoke to me about it, and said the problem is... had the BBC not acted and the mirror leaked it, imagine the outcry then, yet they've done the "right thing" with due dillagence and still it's deemed as "outrageous" by some.  Whatever happened happened, and will all be protected by NDAs and binding documents, what is no good and making absolutely no difference, and just fanning the flames, is people like on the FB Group threatening to boycott the station, and "demand" Scott's reinstatement, that ship has sailed and the BBC aren't going to act on the say so of a few keyboard warriors (says he typing essays on the subject), yes the R2 show will loose listenership as a result, like many of us have gone back to Greg, or some have moved to commercial, whatever you choose is up to you.  Of course all of the above is purley in a clinical sense as well, not that I am a hater of Scott, far from it, but being in media, and my job outside of media, I deal in hard facts, data and reports, and the only ones of those we have are what has happened and what statements have been made. it would be wrong to make assumptions based on that.
    • I know it's mostly irrelevant to the overall post but to nitpick slightly, Tina is still a relief presenter on tv news bullitens on BBC One. She presented the News At Six and Ten a few weeks back
    • Lots of valid points there.  One thing to understand is that DJs are not on the same contracts as you or I, they are not PAYE employees on the payroll on a regular contract of employment ergo are subject to less stringent employment rules and what is stipulated in the contract, unlike for example, someone who works in your local Tescos or at the Bank.  It is important to add here before going on; staff who work in management (like Aled) or production/music team (Matt Fincham and co)/social media team/programming and so on and so forth are permenent employees (like the guy who works at Tescos) and would be in a permenent Contract of employment which would have a framework for discipline and grievances and be covered possibly by union protection. This is why Production teams, specially at weekends actually work on two shows usually in a shift, exceptions are probably breakfast and drive and on R2 Vine. News staff like Callum Leslie, or Tina Daheley or indeed Rosin Hasty all work for the "News" arm of the BBC, so they come under the same teams as the presenters on the BBC news channel and again are permenent staff, which is why Rosin was allowed to move into another arm of "news" when she had her baby and moved role, no doubt she applied for an obtained another role within "news" when she came off of the Breakfast show. Another example of this was Tulip who did R1 news on drive when Scott was there, and then moved over to TV news still working under the same umbrealla. Tina sometimes presented on BBC news as well in the past when she was on R1 breakfast (don't think she has since being on R2 and remember that dates back to 2019 when ZB got the show off of CE.  Now you ask how can Tina cover Vine... well that is like a side hussle, so she will be paid an ad hoc fee as a freelancer to cover for Jermery the weeks he is off, which is outside her permenent employment, so if she does news on Breakfast that is her "working day" and the part where she covers 12-2 is a freelance jobby she is paid ad hoc fees for.  They are freelance and contracted for delivery of their programmes, so for example Jack Saunders will be contracted to deliver the NMS 4 days a week and the chart on Friday, he will be expected to adhere to the BBCs code of cunduct social media policies and all. He would be expected as part of his contract to attend events such as Big Weekend and other things.  The Contract would read something like x amount of shows per year, allowing for time off. DJs don't have to apply for annual leave like you or I, they just tell management probably at the start of the year what weeks they are off, and of note they probably don't get paid for leave as well.  I did a quick online search for a BBC DJ Contract and it came back with this    6. Disrepute and Behaviour Disrepute Clause: A standard clause allowing the BBC to terminate the contract immediately if the DJ brings the BBC into disrepute. Code of Conduct: Adherence to BBC staff standards regarding behaviour.  7. Confidentiality and Data Protection Confidentiality: A requirement not to disclose information about future music playlists, guest appearances, or confidential BBC business. GDPR: Compliance with data protection laws regarding listener information. So any of those could apply in this case I would say, we just don't know the ins and outs, and it's wrong to speculate. The reason we probably haven't heard from Scott since is likely legal. Either bound by an NDA, or other legal reasons.  The main thing is he is alive, not in a good place, but alive. I worry about what happens to him and Sam, and they could be going through hell as a couple over this, you just don't know.
    • His Saturday breakfast show on Radio 2 is very different to that of it's weekday counterpart. It's more of a laid back vibe and a lot of the music is different to that of the other daytime shows (heavier focus on indie and alternative, which is what his old Saturday afternoon show was like i believe). You never know, but i just can't see them going for one of the weekend presenters.
