I know this has been done before but I'm interested: rate the Radio1 daytime DJs in your order of preference. That's Dev, Chris, Fearne, Greg, Scott, Edith, Vernon, Sara, Huw and Reggie. Go go go!

1) Chris Moyles

2) Scott Mills

3) Greg James

4) Sara Cox

5) Huw Stephens

6) Dev

7) Edith Bowman

8 ) Vernon Kay

9) Reggie Yates

10) Fearne Cotton

And Matt Edmondson doesn't count cos he's not a daytime DJ, but if he did he'd be in at number 3ish :)

3 ) Reggie Yates

4 ) Edith Bowman

6 ) Dev

7 ) Greg James

8 ) Huw Stephens

9 ) Vernon Kay

10 ) Sara Cox

I will add that I can't say I've heard too much of Huw and to an extent Greg and Dev, so that's the reason they may be further down the list than they otherwise might be.

OMASM. Radio presenters are like fruit. Matt is my kumquat and Scott is blatantly my orange.

Posted

1. Scott Mills - Listened to him since Early breakfast days and he has just got better. His shows are so carefully planned but seem so off the cuff with brilliant features!

2. Chris Moyles - What can I say! He is just the saviour of radio 1! Love the mayhem!

3. Sara Cox - The most entertaining time of my day when sara is on the radio - love it when she covers ANYONE! She suits any time of day!

4. Huw Stephens - Him and Greg should swap as he has a much bigger appeal and perfect personality to hold a show

5. Reggie Yates - Shame he only has set format shows as I think he would be much better on a free show

6. Edith Bowman - Its only once she left weekdays I realised just how good a listen she was

7. Greg James - Promoted to early and needed more time to gain a following - weekends should have been next!

8. Vernon Kay - used to be pretty high but over the last year or 2 iv gone off him

9. Dev - Entertaining enough for earlies and occasional cover but not a regular listen as is quite dull

10. Fearne Cotton - Doesnt deserve the slot she has!!

Posted

1)Sara Cox- brilliantly entertaining, deserves a far far better show than that she is stuck with.

2) Chris Moyles- irreplacible.

3) Reggie Yates- very listenable, deserved to be promoted over Cotton (their joint shows were always far more entertaining when it was just him than her floundering on her own).

4) Scott Mills- like him but his show can tend to sound fake/contrived.

5) Edith Bowman- has gone way up in my estimations since being replaced by a personality-free robot.

6 ) Vernon Kay- bearable.

7) Greg James- why does he have a national radio show? So bland and devoid of any individuality, really does not deserve to be the so-called future of BBC Radio 1.

8 ) Huw Stephens- well done, you were born in Wales. Any need to mention it every 5 minutes? Wholly underwhelming replacement for Jo Whiley- even feels the need to rip off the Seven Song Shuffle. In essence, complete filler radio- non-essential, put-it-on-if-there's-nothing-better-to-do listening.

9) Fearne Cotton- and well done to you, you're younger than Jo Whiley. Vacuous drivel radio, parachuted in because she's nearer the target audience age. Personifies 'beige'. Typifies the 'age over talent' approach of current BBC Radio 1 thinking.

10) Dev- simply awful. Find a better replacement, someone who doesn't have such ridiculous intonation.

5. Vernon

6. Fearne

7. Greg (He has got extremely big headed over the last couple of years)

8. Dev

9. Reggie

10. Edith (She is great when covering Grimmy, but awful on weekend breakfast. It's so bloody boring listening to her wang on about films all the time)

Capes :)

I really like the first three esp. Scott

I like Greg but he's no where as near as good as we're led to believe

Dev amuses me but it's always a little awkward

Non Comittal about Chris

Fearne is OK, don't mind her but don't willingly listen ditto Reggie

Edith and Vernon dislike

After looking at that I can't believe they let Jo leave :( I'd like to here more Andy George + Jaymo and Adam Catteral as well

There is about 9 million night time DJs and it's fair to say the vast majority won't have listened to even half of them properly...

Surely that's a good thing, it would introduce people to DJs and stations they never would have thought about listening to before

Exactly, the same DJs would likely end up in the lists, just add Zane and such like into some of them too. Not difficult. Well done on the overexaggeration there though Tom, surpassed even your own previous efforts...

    • As none of the Going Home Team aren't currently on the air, that's a bit if an issue. Considering most of the Dance DJs will be out there, I'm surprised none of them are being utilised to host the 1-4 slot that weekend.
    • Going Home presenters have done the last few years ?
    • Nat and Vicky are being sent to Ibiza this year. They’ll be live on Friday 1st August from 1-4pm.
    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
    • - Jamie Laing will take a break from Going Home from 28th July. Sam and Danni will cover. - Greg James will host his show until 11am from 21st July (Monday to Thursday only). - Mylo and Rosie, who previously hosted Hits Radio Breakfast in West Yorkshire, will host Friday EB in July. - Charley Marlowe of TikTok fame will host Friday EB in August. - Tskenya Frazer will host Life Hacks with Lauren Layfield in July, whilst Yinka Bikinni will host with Lauren in August. - Jamie Laing and Katie Thistleton will return to Going Home in September.
    • @eddemundo Thank you 👏🏼 👏🏼 That took some listening on Sounds to get that

    • Did you note down everyone who was on Sunday and at what times? I managed to get: Charlie H 11-1, Oré 11-1, Dean 11-1:30, James 11-1:30 Greg 1-3, Vicky 1-3, Danni 1-3:30, Matt 1-4, Jamie 1-4, Charlie T 3-4:30 Lauren L, Sam, Nat and Swarzy all joined from 3:30 but didn’t manage to listen back in time to know what happened after this.
    • Ore is in for Vicky on Saturday 19th & Sunday 20th July. CassKidd is in for Sian on Sunday 20th July.
    • Next Tuesday and Wednesday is now just Jamie and Danni on Going Home.
