A phased return for a job that one of them barely turns up for? Their job is to present a radio show for 2 and 1/4 hours, 4 days a week. I might sound harsh but it’s not like they are returning to an 40+ hour desk job. They may well be on a phased return and I am in no position to judge nor would I want but I do wonder. A phased return should consist of gradually increasing one’s hours. They appear to be performing their other duties outside of R1 judging by social media. On popularity, they might be popular. I would imagine they are otherwise they would not be on the station. I also suspect there are lots of other ‘popular’ presenters who would jump at the chance to present on world famous Radio 1 and who could commit themselves to the show and make it a roaring success. Vick and Jamie’s schedules don’t align. I’m afraid to say the current show in its current format doesn’t work. I do not believe it will change until they amend the presenting lineup and create some proper features. You would not realise that it’s supposed to be the second biggest show on the station on listening to it. I might sound harsh but as a listener I’m sick and tired of it. I have to force myself to listen to it. Time for a change. Thinking outside the box, give Emil Frenchi the show! Anyway, that’s my 5p.

Why do they still work there? Becasue they are popular. They're still on a phased return after maternity / paternity leave. As for moving Katie to weekends, clearly she doesn't deserve that. I suspect audience research is vastly different from what you wrote there...

I agree i used to love Vick being a part of Radio 1 but now just feels like she's not bothered really. It's a shame for Katie as she is really good. I would move her and put her back on her own. Perhaps Matt&Mollie could do Going Home? But they really suit the 1pm slot much like Scott&Chris did

Why do Vick and Jamie still work at Radio 1. They do 1, 2 shows at the most out of 4 and offer zero value, just drop them. It’s a joke. That show has zero continuity and is the station seconds BIGGEST slot. Aled needs to do better. It needs a big overhaul. They need two presenters that gel together. Of the top of my head I’m not sure who that would be. Possible pairings could be Katie and Emil or Katie and Jerry on Monday-Thursday. You could give it to Sam and Danni and Katie do their weekend slot. It needs a regular incumbent. Vick and Jordan were so good together, we need a couple of presenters like that. Radically thinking give the show to Katie or Emil rather than a duo.
