Wandering Belle

It’s between Jo Whiley and Scott Mills for me. I was a massive indie kid in the early 2000s and Jo’s show just really spoke to me at the time. I used to get to listen to the radio in art classes at school and it was usually Jo’s show that was on then. Everyone at school tended to big up Chris Moyles but he just wasn’t for me. I remember listening to Scott’s show and I just thought yeah, I really like this.

I think they might move Sam and Danni to weekend afternoons in the summer unless they’ve got someone else in mind.

I’ve hardly listened to Dean since he got Scott and Chris’ slot. I was quite impressed when he covered breakfast last week - especially when he played the Wronguns clip back from 2021. He was just so new on the station then, doing Friday Earlies - I wasn’t too struck on him then and he sounded quite brash. But I saw a huge difference on Friday morning and he was really good to listen to. Hope he’s okay.

Did anyone listen to Sexted my Boss yesterday? Jordan didn’t give anything away which I suspected. But I did notice when William mentioned Jordan announcing Steve Wright’s passing on air, Jordan seemed to pass it off a little (to be fair, he’s had a crazy week and it probably felt like a long time ago) and then mentioned Chris Moyles and how he loved listening to him when he was younger. I’m only an occasional listener so it might be normal but I thought he seemed a little down. Anyway, I do wish Jordan all the best. He wanted to host breakfast - he’s went and got it, just not on Radio 1. I’m doubtful I’ll be moving listening as I feel faithful to Greg. But can always catch up on Jordan if there’s a podcast

Would have been more inclined to stick with it had it been Vick and Katie. I’ll give Vick and Jamie a listen but I’m not sure of this at all. I usually listen to Scott til 4, then switch back for Going Home, so I might give other channels a try. I wasn’t keen on Sara Cox when she was on Radio 1 (but it was over 20 years ago now), I’ll maybe give her a try or even try 6 Music… or there’s Ricky Wilson on Virgin as well.

Jamie was on Sunday Brunch earlier. He’s going on tour with his wife in April with their podcast. He came out with one of his random facts (think he did this this when he did Mollie’s cover), Tim and Simon said they hoped Vick wasn’t watching and they should start a book on how long it was before Jamie gets fired

Yeah the Suella Braverman comment had me creased the other month. It sounds like it’s been a quick decision. They must have known for a few days anyway as they’d have needed to have got Jamie lined up.

One thing that keeps going through my mind - there’s been loads of times Jordan has joked about getting sacked and how Radio 1 bosses would handle it. Now he’s left and we’ve seen how Radio 1 bosses have let it play out.

Yeah, I thought this was a wind up to begin with. With Greg being off with Covid, I thought it a coincidence. I genuinely don’t think this is a prank anymore tho - it has been a total shock though. Jordan has made no secret that he wanted Breakfast and I thought that was where he’d end up. But as others have pointed out, if Greg stays on for another few years, then there’s a chance that the opportunity will pass for Jordan completely and he’s as well to seize the opportunity now if he can. Capital does make sense - Roman Kemp seems to be getting more presenting right now. I’m not keen on Jamie hosting - I do think it’s temporary until they work out their next steps. I was never too sure of Vick but after reading her recent interview, I actually don’t mind her now. I think Vick presented with Jamie last year and they didn’t sound too bad together. I am gutted Jordan is leaving tho.

Am I the only one thinking this is a wind up and something to do with Mega Massive Monday. If it’s not, I can’t believe he’s going.

Hello everyone. I’m a long time lurker on here so thought I’d finally set up an account I’m currently on holiday in Cornwall and have been listening back to the Newquay episodes from last year but one seems to be missing. There’s one for the 8th, 9th and 11th August and the Sunset Chat but the 10th seems to be missing… anyone got any ideas or was there not a podcast for that day? Thank you.
