It started with Russell Brand and Johnny Depp, but Superdrug is hoping makeup on men could go mainstream this summer. The high-street chemist is stocking its shelves with a range of cosmetics aimed directly at its male customers. Guyliner, a £6.50 kohl pencil, will be in stores this week, closely followed by Manscara, a clear gel for lashes and brows. If they sell well, a lip balm and cover-up will follow.

But are Britain's men ready to start the day by enhancing their eyes or concealing their bags?

What's your opinion on makeup on men? Unnatural or sexy? Guys, would you wear it? I can't say I'm convinced....

Haha, is someone watching this on "This Morning" like I am ? I think it looks good on musicians, particularly indie/rock. It looked really nice on Brandon Flowers from The Killers, and I think Russell Brand and Johnny Depp also look good with it on. Stuart from Big Brother just looks silly!

Actually if we're going to be technical, it started with Charlie Chaplin and all the other silent movie stars................... but anyway.

Guyliner - oooooooh yes... It's deffo hot. I draw the line at foundation, eyeshadow, lip gloss, mascara and eyeshadow, but a bit of guyliner coupled with a ruffly shirt, tight trousers and lovely ringlety hair is quite, quite lovely on certain gentlemen. Not all of them, like. I mean on some blokes it looks wrong, but some of them can really pull that whole look off!!

Blokes with make-up is well cool, except when it's used for pure vanity by those preening pretty boys who slap on bronzer and a dab of whatever to "enhance" themselves rather than the kind of guyliner I like

It really depends on the guy. In theory I don't see why not, but in practice, let's face it, not just anyone can pull it off.

It doesn't do anything for me. That's hardly surprising though since I don't wear make-up myself. It just makes me feel like I'm wearing face paint or something and my eyes are allergic to mascara and go all red and itchy and watery which isn't a good look.

I saw this in the Guardian last week, I mean if a guy's going to be in a film or on TV, it's alright to wear some make-up, but I'm not sure I'd feel comfortable with a boyfriend who wore make-up. I don't really approve of guys using hair straighteners either though really, the metrosexual look doesn't really do it for me.

Depends on the boy. The last ex I had did and he looked vair vair sexy, but the one before that... The rugby boy... No way. And my best guy friend had some on for halloween and it sort of suited him, but.. Never as a day to day thing.

When my husband dressed up as a Samurai for Halloween I put a lot of make up on him. The next day, after he had washed it off there was still some eyeliner on and it looked very sexy! However, day to day I think he'd look silly wearing it.

I have to disagree with Emma about Stu from BB....I am loving his eyes! He is hot, hot, hot!!

Does Stu from Big Brother wear mascara too?

I agree that Brandon Flowers looks good but it's a no from me for any other man. How feminine will boys get before they realise it's a bit silly? I don't like all-natural guys - shaving your armpits and straightening your hair is perfectly fine, but come on... there is a limit...

My best friend wears lots of makeup. He wears blush, eyeliner, concealer etc. His "beauty routine", as I call it, takes over an hour. He is gay though

I wear eyeliner all the time when I'm out, and I like it. Apparently the girls I know do too, so I think it's a winner.
