And FINALLY we have a weekend announcement - Sam and Danni to weekend afternoons and James Cusack to weekend breakfast. Good decisions all round I’d say! OH and there’s a new 1 hour (?!) weekend early breakfast show with Ore on Saturdays and Swarzy on Sundays!!

This surprises me - because its often pre-recorded, I assumed Dance Morning would never need to have cover

New dance schedule kicks off on Monday at 9am and I see that Greg James is joining Arielle for the first hour! Wow Sam and Danni are getting much more exposure recently - we LOVE to see it!

So a few months in and I've got to say - I'm really enjoying Capital Breakfast. I've always been a big Jordan fan, and regularly listened to Going Home and loved it. I tried Capital back when Chris first joined but couldn't get into it. But the combo of Jordan Chris and Sian works so well and makes this a must-listen for me - and I'm finding that it's reluctantly pulling me away from Greg. I love Greg but his show feels a little empty in comparison - I really enjoy the zoo format of Capital and think its shown up what an outlier the Radio 1 breakfast show is to the rest of Radio 1's output which is all about multiple presenters (to great effect!) And Going Home with Vick Katie and Jamie - I hate to say but I'm just not feeling it. The topics they talk about are a bit cringe, and I think I'm put off by how amateur it sounds on Jamie's part (crashing vocals, very obviously pulling the conversation away from what it was supposed to be about on bizarre tangents, etc). Such a clear downgrade.

But seemingly without breakfast starting half an hour later, which I think irritated some people at the time (although I loved having more Sam & Danni in my life in the mornings!)

I'm curious - in what context did Vick and Katie mention Jordan? Was it r.e. Arielle's wedding?

I liked Lauren and Katie! Their friendship really shone through. Anyone notice that Katie said Jamie was “poorly sick” at the start of the show even though he was on yesterday and Lauren’s cover has been in the schedule for at least a few days?!

I am big Sam and Danni fans and always think they should be getting maximum exposure. I'm wondering - which show do people on here think gets the most exposure/listeners - Sat/Sun early breakfast, or Fri/Sat/Sun afternoons..? I'm thinking it might be afternoons but I have no data to back that up. If afternoons, I'd move Sam and Danni there and put James on weekend breakfast. But with so much change going on... they might be reluctant to mess around with another show. Sam and Danni feel like the heirs of weekday afternoons in a few years

I'm not convinced its a last minute decision, I just reckon the logistics of it needed more time to work out (e.g. will Katie be in London for the show or Salford, who would go into Katie's slot). So I reckon they announced Jamie first because they had to get on the front-foot from a PR perspective after Jordan's departure - but then once all the above was resolved they can announce the Katie addition.

If he had been sacked, he wouldn't be still on air till the start of March. Definitely poached
