Apologies for repeat if this is already above (I couldn’t see it) but as well as Fri 29th Aug, Milo and Rosie are scheduled in the 1pm Summer On Radio 1 slot for Fri 8th to 10th Aug and Fri 15th to 17th Aug! Great to see them getting a good amount of cover work so quickly!

Mylo and Rosie said at the end of their show today that they would also be on Early Breakfast on Thursday 24th July (even though the schedule still says Dean)

It’s easy for us to complain about this kind of thing but shippp you correctly mention all the really strong presenters at the moment who have worked their way up. There’s loads of them, so I think the odd personality hire is not the end of the world. Aled’s thought process on this will be the following: 1) Jamie has a huge social media following which will draw listeners 2) 6 Degrees with Jamie & Spencer was consistently near the top of the under 35 bbc sounds listenership - so clearly (although I don’t get it myself) he really appeals to the target age demographic 3) I understand Newlyweds is super popular and so cross-listenership will be hoped for I agree Jamie (and that whole show now) is not my cup of tea but it’s appealing well to a demographic and to be honest us radio nerds are well catered for elsewhere on the schedule ie Greg, M&M, Sam & Danni, James, etc

Right - I give up!! There is a lyric I simply cannot hear right on Scott’s 8am “Radio 2” song. I keep listening to it thinking that I’ll work it out eventually, but it just sounds like gibberish to me! Help me - what do they sing on the line with question marks?! Turn it up we’re on the air Radio 2 it’s everywhere Walk the dog or on a run Off to school with your mum (Monday) morning, Radio 2 Have we got a show for you ?????????? R1 00s and R1 10s are always in the Top 10 BBC Sounds shows with under-35s % skew, which BBC cares a lot about. So this doesn’t really surprise me

And FINALLY we have a weekend announcement - Sam and Danni to weekend afternoons and James Cusack to weekend breakfast. Good decisions all round I’d say! OH and there’s a new 1 hour (?!) weekend early breakfast show with Ore on Saturdays and Swarzy on Sundays!!

New dance schedule kicks off on Monday at 9am and I see that Greg James is joining Arielle for the first hour! Wow Sam and Danni are getting much more exposure recently - we LOVE to see it!

So a few months in and I've got to say - I'm really enjoying Capital Breakfast. I've always been a big Jordan fan, and regularly listened to Going Home and loved it. I tried Capital back when Chris first joined but couldn't get into it. But the combo of Jordan Chris and Sian works so well and makes this a must-listen for me - and I'm finding that it's reluctantly pulling me away from Greg. I love Greg but his show feels a little empty in comparison - I really enjoy the zoo format of Capital and think its shown up what an outlier the Radio 1 breakfast show is to the rest of Radio 1's output which is all about multiple presenters (to great effect!) And Going Home with Vick Katie and Jamie - I hate to say but I'm just not feeling it. The topics they talk about are a bit cringe, and I think I'm put off by how amateur it sounds on Jamie's part (crashing vocals, very obviously pulling the conversation away from what it was supposed to be about on bizarre tangents, etc). Such a clear downgrade.

But seemingly without breakfast starting half an hour later, which I think irritated some people at the time (although I loved having more Sam & Danni in my life in the mornings!)
