I think they had Jess Iszatt down to host Early Breakfast originally on Friday and she was covering Future Artists the other day so maybe it's a staffing issue for the Friday.

I think that’s really bad that they can’t find presenters for the next 2 days early breakfast really. Just seems like really lazy programming there from management!

Agreed. Very lazy and unprofessional for one of the biggest stations in the country. It’s like when they didn’t cover the Sunday breakfast show a few months ago. The station has never had so many presenters either so it doesn’t make sense.

Hmmm not sure.  I doubt whether this was laziness, more likely a last resort.  There are several presenters off at the moment due to Covid and other illnesses and it's very likely to be a similar story across production teams too.  Taking an off-peak programme off air seems to be to be a reasonable decision in the circumstances.

No Early Breakfast Monday-Thursday next week.

Oh dear... In normal circumstances that would be a very poor show from the BBC... However, it must be behind the scenes staff related... As there cannot be any chance they can't find ANY presenter to cover any of tomorrow/Friday or next week....

I find it rather baffling that with the pandemic other stations are able to find the resources to get last minute presenters and stand in within days even with low production resources. Is it somehow bit difficult for a music station like radio 1 I’m surprised theres no one that is available id just start breakfast bit earlier possibly end it earlier to pre pandemic times if was stuck with that dilemma. Do find selecting purely Radio 1 Dance shows is bit of a cop out on Christmas period. Maybe air some Christmas playlists from BBC Sounds or any other BBC Sounds mixes. It seems that since the new schedule for duo and trio pairings have lead to presenting dilemmas

Friday 31st Dec the timings have changed slightly:

16.00-17.30 Chart

17.30-21.30 James Cusack

21.30-01.00 Jordan North

And on Thursday 20th Jan Vick is off so it's Jordan and Katie.

Interesting that the timing of the chart has changed... So it's 15 minutes shorter than it'd usually be.. rather than 15 minutes longer (because no Newsbeat)

Makes sense though as there will probably be loads of Christmas songs in the chart so having less time to fill will help!

That's true. Although it was listed as finishing at 6 until the past day or two so something's changed. NYE will be the next time we hear Jordan on air next as well. Shame he's not on this week with Vick as it would've likely been an extra fun listen in the run up to Christmas. Hopefully, whatever it is, it's not too serious and he's okay.

Ohh yeah! Thanks for that. How could I forget lol.  Ignore that original comment. I'm looking forward to their show along with the rest of the schedule. Makes a change from the previous years of fill in 'celebrity/popstar takeovers', which is the point I'd tune out. I'll probably be listening most of the day this year

On bbc sounds it does say that its on from 16:00-18:00 15 more not less. Assume must be slight bit of confusion

@nathan15 I’m glad it’s not wall to wall takeover all star specials across Christmas Day but it would’ve been good at 06:00-07:00 or 18:00-19:00 some point of having a crimbo limbo period of festive takeovers for one hour targetted for sounds listening

    • I worked out once Scott spent 3 months of a year off his own slot in the Moyles days and more like 4 in Grimmys days, six weeks of his own holiday and projects, six covering Grimmy plus some ad hoc days
    • Back on topic, I think there's quite a few of the current Radio 1 presenters who would be able to adapt to Radio 2's style in the future. It's more of question of how many of them will actually end up there. With much of R2's line up changed over the past couple of years, it's quite possible we won't see much movement there, and R2 management might even decide to look elsewhere to bring in new presenters in future.
    • With OJ covering on bank holidays. She is the best person for the job however... they're going to end up with a situation like Scott covering R1 breakfast back in the day, where she spends quite a bit of time off her own slot covering Breakfast, plus her own holiday and other commitments. She's been filming for something recently which has meant she's been off several days a week since May. She was off last week, on breakfast this week, OJ is on Mon/Tues next week, then She's off the following two weeks.
    • Looking back at this I would say now that Sara is the main cover - I think she has been reestablished as it now
    • Purley on the R1 Dance station.. Someone on DS said don't expect to see any changes to the schedule on the new stations however if they are taking on Capital Dance with this, which they clearly are, which has live presenters 7am - 10pm except for the 11am mix then they'll surely have to have a proper scheduled set of shows. At the moment Arielle is the only "live" per say show and only "live" a few days a week with earlier shows being repeated Thursday Friday and Saturday. Connor and Charlie are clearly pre records but was this only for the time it was online only and they have already got a schedule ready to go on day 1? also of note is that Charlie is taking over a podcast as well as starting a new project with podcasting which makes me wonder if she is about to step back from Dance Anthems all together to concentrate on those and Connor takes over? So you could have Arielle doing 9-12 weekdays live then someone else 12-3 and Connor live 3-6 on R1D and doing Dance Anthems on a Saturday.
    • As none of the Going Home Team aren't currently on the air, that's a bit if an issue. Considering most of the Dance DJs will be out there, I'm surprised none of them are being utilised to host the 1-4 slot that weekend.
    • Going Home presenters have done the last few years ?
    • Nat and Vicky are being sent to Ibiza this year. They’ll be live on Friday 1st August from 1-4pm.
    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
    • - Jamie Laing will take a break from Going Home from 28th July. Sam and Danni will cover. - Greg James will host his show until 11am from 21st July (Monday to Thursday only). - Mylo and Rosie, who previously hosted Hits Radio Breakfast in West Yorkshire, will host Friday EB in July. - Charley Marlowe of TikTok fame will host Friday EB in August. - Tskenya Frazer will host Life Hacks with Lauren Layfield in July, whilst Yinka Bikinni will host with Lauren in August. - Jamie Laing and Katie Thistleton will return to Going Home in September.
    • @eddemundo Thank you 👏🏼 👏🏼 That took some listening on Sounds to get that
