A post popped up on my Insta feed the other day which appeared to list the the 3 headliners for Big Weekend.. Fatboy Slim was listed, alongside Olivia Dean and Zara Larrson.

@Jono Tbf, Lush Life has had a resurgence in the charts thanks to TikTok, and she's on the remix of Pinkpantheress's 'Stateside' so that's why they're playing her a lot as well.

Aww. Greg's put a video up about what's been happening the past few days with his Dad. Sounds like him and his family are really going through it atm, but he's back on breakfast tomorrow and determined to do the comic relief challenge.

When Grimmy took over from Moyles, was he seen as a likely candidate to be the next breakfast host beforehand?

It definitely felt about the right time to swap the shows over. Grimmy's tenure on drive wasn't awful, but it just felt like a continuation of his breakfast show.

@abertom I'd have to look back through the schedules at some point but I do recall Cel sitting in for Greg on a regular weekday the once.

I don't recall Danny Howard doing drive in 2018? Dev & Alice did several weeks on drive in the gap between Greg finishing and Grimmy starting.

@Dan18F1 That sounds realistic for headliners, with Harry closing the event on the Sunday. Other artists I could possibly see on the line up are are Zara Larrson and Myles Smith. Hopefully at least one other international name. Sombr would be a good shout maybe?

@Dan18F1 I remember listening to that on the Friday night. Sarah Story was there as well i'm sure. I think they were as bewildered as the listeners were playing out playlist tracks and made a few jokes/digs on air. They could've at least .played some more upbeat R1 daytime friendly dance tracks

I wonder who Scott's main cover will be this year as well? I enjoyed hearing Mark Goodier over Christmas, and although it was slightly stripped back to Scott's usual show.. the 3rd week he did into January was a full blown breakfast show with Scott's features and guests which i think he handled quite well. I know they started using Sara Cox for breakfast cover, but with the amount of times she's was off with her own holiday and other projects.. she ended up spending a fair bit of time off teatime, which isn't ideal. Mark covering isn't as disruptive to the schedule.

I agree. I was under the impression he would cover all of OJ's holiday and when he's on daytimes, but Connor (who has his own weekday show on BBC Radio Ulster, and does regular cover on 5live) seems to do the majority now. On the subject of OJ, I wouldn't wish to lose Sara Cox, but he's really good when he sits in at teatime. He makes the show his own with his own features (a few of them exclusive to when he covers teatime), so i was glad when he started covering again recently as he had fell out of favour a bit first to Ellie Taylor, then Spoony. I wonder if Ellie Taylor will pop up again? I noticed she was present in the pictures from the presenter gathering they had not long back, despite the fact she hadn't been used for any cover in a while.

Is Danny Howard usually live on Radio 1 Dance on a Thursday? I assumed apart from shows simulcast with Radio 1, everything on R1 Dance was pre-recorded?

Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th March is C2C Music Festival with Bob Harris in place of Rylan's show, and Sounds Of The 70s.

@DC Exactly lol. Long story short, Matt & Mollie played Shania Twain's 'That Don't Impress Me Much' followed by 'Flying Without Wings' during their Battle Tracks feature.

There's been a few over the years, think there was a similar one for Grimmy's tenure on the late night slot. They briefly ran one for Greg and Vick/Jordan.

Hopefully a couple of big headline names then. Last years line-up, while good didn't seem as 'big' as some previous Big Weekends. I can definitely see Harry Styles headlining again.

Connor Phillips in for OJ Borg overnight tonight into tomorrow. Joel Dommett in for Romesh Ranganathan on Saturday 7th March. Edith Bowman in for Jo Whiley for a week starting Monday 16th March.

@UnofficialStark There's been a bit of an advertising push for his show recently i noticed. I've heard a trail on Radio 2 a couple of times and I saw an ad pop up on my Instagram feed. A year of Scott and Grimmy on their respective breakfast shows, and it's around 2 years since Jordan left Radio 1

@R1Fan1 Wouldn't have been a bad idea if they wanted to have changed up from the usual endurance based challenge for Comic Relief.
