    • You would think so, someone decided to drop the features from day 1, that would have been probably an exec producer, someone in charge of production teams, I am guessing that kind of detail is below the level of Helen Thomas. Same at R1 Aled doesn't get involved in nitty gritty like that anymore. Yeah jingle packages are very intrecate and personalised. So for Scotts breakfast show he had sevrral versions of his main intro, beds, tops of hours, donuts etc etc. These all make up the package, and he definately had Christmas ones done, special ones for different days of the week, like the Friday one, I would imagine his cartwall had a page dedicated to show openers only then another for beds, another for idents. On top of that they have to make sure each presenter has a generic "xxx xxx on BBC Radio 2" suite of jingles, for stuff like when they cover a different slot (although very rarely does the Breakfast host cover another slot like drive or weekends unless there is a proper emergency) and for events like the Monarch dying, where the upbeat and usual imaging is dropped. Then for Scott (and Gregs show) they had to create a set of the openers, beds, idents that reflected someone else covering, so far Gary has been using a hybrid ident that was probably created last minute Tuesday last week that is Scotts opener mixed into Gary's generic R2 jingle. Today OJ used a generic "Radio 2 Breakfast Show" one, over on R1 this week Dean has been using a generic version of Gregs opener which just says "Radio one Breakfast". I know they actually did a versons of Scott's one for Sara as she was/is the proper deputy. The tale tale sign will be if she now does not cover two weeks of 20th April onwards which was Scotts pre planned Spring break and Gary stays in place or Mark covers. This will be the signal she is getting the gig. I don't think it will be announced on air the BBC will press release the new host beforehand. They need to really. Back to jingles, a station like R1/2 Heart has to have imaging to cover every eventuality, so someone has probably looked at this problem and it has been decided to keep the current theme going in a generic form until a new theme comes in. This happend at the end of Zoes time where Mark kept her theme going for the "Gap" weeks, until Scott started, and the same happened on R1 between Grimmy and Greg, Scott used Grimmys themes in the "Gap" four days.
    • It's an interesting point, though.  I found this forum just as a fan-girl of Scott Mills. I'm not involved in radio at all, but through being here have seen the discussions about things that I never would have known about. All of the intricacies that go into putting a radio show together.  There will be someone in a job at R2 having to consider exactly the point you are making as we speak.
    • Saw this last night as well.. The guy seems shocked himself, maybe a bit smug and seems he checked his facts, seems like someone in the BBC ratted out to the Mirror on Sunday afternoon
    • 100% the features are what they would miss, and yes you are right the average joe chucking on the radio would not notice no. From a geeky programming and management point of view, as an observation, I was very suprised they didn't take it off air ASAP and still haven't, as soon as the features dropped. and replaced with the generic presenter "Radio 2" package (they all have generic packages made in case they cover another show for example the ones Gary uses when he covers Vernon) until a new host is installed with a whole new package. The other side of me says "why should they take the regular consistent theme away from the listener through no fault of the listeners" so there is that argument as well. In the grand schedme of things my point is really miniscule, but still....
    • The mirror online posted this last night. It's seems to be a separate incident with the same person  They also say he had crisis talks hours before his final show which is probably why he was so off form Tuesday as they made decisions
    • I suppose it's not out of the question to move him to teatime if Sara moves to the breakfast show . I'd like to see OJ Borg get it though, to be fair. Sara to breakfast, OJ to teatime then overnights given to either Richie or Phil Williams full time would be the option I'd go for.
