When did being a Scott Mills fan become so embarrassing?

Some guy from De Montford Uni came into school today to talk us into going. So the whole of year 12 are sitting in the hall, I placed myself at the back. Towards the end of the talk, the guy goes onto describing summer and christmas parties they have and the celebrities that attend. he was goign theough them at the top of his head, 2 members of bewitched, one of the sugar babes and Vernon Kay. Then he freezes in thought and said "Oh yeah Scott Mills turned up last year". The split second he said "Scott" about 75% of everyone in the room swung their head round straight at me with a big grin on their faces. A couple of seconds after, the following 25% followed with confused looks on their faces as they don't know me.

The moment I set foot outside of the hall, numerous people approach me with comment such as "Did you hear him Rom? He said Scott Mills! and "I bet you know where you're going for uni Rob" :|

I always make sure I have other tabs open so I can Alt-tab if someone walks in the room. If I'm at uni I try to avoid coming on here, but if I have to, I take furtive glances over my shoulder to ensure no one is looking inquisitively at what I'm reading and try to hide the banner at the top, sometimes to the extent of changing the browser settings so pictures are hidden. A bit like people who look at porn sites must be secretive about it, I suppose.

As a result, pretty much no one knows about me being a Mills fan. Only my housemate really. I don't want people knowing I post on here because I use it as a place to blog as well. If someone asks how I know someone that I met on here (either in person or a Facebook friend) I remain vague.

Paranoid? Me? I'm a perfectly normal, balanced person, who doesn't have online friends....

tried that on the other thread, let's keep the general section for all non mills stuff shall we? there is of course a massive section for him not far away from here.

Did I post this in the wrong section? I didn't think it was really related to the actual show nor radio one so...

I tried being discreet about being a Mills fan but everyone is so nosy

at school. Apparently majority of the people in my year also know about the Scott cam log and me coming on here at various points in the day...

Ah I havent mentioned being a Hoosiers or Scott Mills fan to my flatmates. My friends on my course know about The Hoosiers because I'm seeing them next week. I've always tried to play down being a fan of things, but my college friends still seem to think I'm obsessed... How do they find out when I dont mention anything about it?

I wish Scott was coming here for Freshers, he went to Warwick :'(

I'm not very secretive about it :S Quite a lot of people know I'm part of the forum but I feel safe as most of them either can't be bothered to go on it or can't work out how to use the forum ;)

Oh I obsess over Scott. No one here has a clue who he is, and I always say to my friends, "Dude, I'm freaking nuts over this UK radio show! You gotta hear this!" And then I play them the podcasts. And they all think the show is hysterical; they love it! I have people asking me, "Let me hear another podcast!"

And then I'll get on about, "Last week on the Mills show..." and everyone knows what I'm talking about.

Its a little ridiculous. hehe

I think it was the Scott cam log that did it for you, if you want to do that then fine.

But I wouldn't go showing your friends, that's just asking for it.

I didn't show everyone, I was always doing it so people were just like "Oh what you doing" and they'd pick up then wildfire occurred amount people

I'm the resident Howard Stern fan in our radio class, which is always fun. Especially when I get to bring in his movie for the class to watch. It's nice to champion a DJ who people have never heard of but suddenly seem to have an interest in. I like to take some credit

Oh, and De Montfort is supposed to be a decent Uni (poor for media though), but if you see my ex there, feel free to kick her in her stupid **** for me :)
