Great to hear Scott doing the Christmas day breakfast show, although seems quite odd he's double shifting, almost certain both will be live (the breakfast show always is, and the chart err... will be live). I'm actually really surprised we don't have Jordan on Christmas Breakfast this year, i was fully expecting it to happen. 2-4pm is also an odd time for the chart to air. The last time it fell on Xmas day, they did it at 10am, which could've made sense again (plus could've been a continuation on from the Breakfast Show, or would've made sense to air at the usual time of 4pm.

The chart will almost certainly be live. It's the most important chart of the year (in the sense it's the one that still gets the general public interested in it), and will have live interaction with the listeners (texts, calls and tweets). There is usually two live shows on Christmas day (Breakfast and 'Drive' usually, or the chart when it falls on 25th December).

Seems like 6-6 NYE is Radio 1 Dance, so is that the stream or with live presenters? doesn't look like any of the regular presenters are on until 6 with Arielle

I imagine the guest presenters will do the dance shows. It's probably blank presenter wise because they haven't announced who's doing it yet.

It will be interesting to see who does the weekend of the 2nd and 3rd as Dev has obviously left, I can’t see Matt and Mollie doing their final weekend breakfast shows then and I don’t think Adele or Arielle will work then as they would have new shows starting the week after.
I could potentially see:

7:00 Jordan North
10:30 Katie Thistleton/Cel Spellman
1:00 Riyadh Khalaf

I think that could possibly work, however I’ve really got no idea!

New Year’s Day seems to be Radio 1 dance apart from Scott with the chart at 4pm

The other difference seems to be that there is no Pete Tong and no replacement for him so Annie's and Danny's show are 3 hours each.

Annie Mac: 6pm-9pm

Danny Howard: 9pm-12am

Article on the Official Charts website says that Katie Thistleton is doing the chart on Christmas Day?

“Tune in to The Official Chart with Katie Thistleton on BBC Radio 1 on December 25 from 2-4pm to hear the Christmas Top 40 countdown and the exclusive reveal of the winner of the Official Christmas Number 1 2020.”

Katie just appeared to confirm she's working Christmas Day, so looks like the info posted by the Official Charts Company is correct.

Does seem a little odd that Scott won't be announcing the Christmas No 1, it's the first time it's fallen on 25th December since he took over as permanent host. Although, it's great he's doing Breakfast again.

Katie also dose a fair bit of  work for BBC Radio Manchester. And last Christmas  hosted a show with Hacker T dog on Christmas day.
So it could be that she conforming that she doing Radio Manchester show on Christmas day.

Who knows we will just have to wait for the press releases and Schedules to be released in full

Arielle is covering 1-4pm on the 2nd and 3rd.

    • Well looks like Mollie is off all month now so presumably a personal matter.
    • Intrigued why Matt & Mollie aren't presenting breakfast on Monday, with James in for them instead (which has happened before).. or even James given a chance to present the breakfast show?
    • Sam & Danni seem to be down for Breakfast on Monday. James Cusack on Going Home. That’s another new name in the list of “people who have hosted Going Home in 2025”.
    • Wednesday, surely? But this is another mess, as this weeks Summer press release said it’ll be Sam & Danni no Jamie from the 28th - so it’s actually a whole week earlier!
    • Jamie Laing’s last show before his summer break will be on Wednesday 16th July.
    • I worked out once Scott spent 3 months of a year off his own slot in the Moyles days and more like 4 in Grimmys days, six weeks of his own holiday and projects, six covering Grimmy plus some ad hoc days
    • Back on topic, I think there's quite a few of the current Radio 1 presenters who would be able to adapt to Radio 2's style in the future. It's more of question of how many of them will actually end up there. With much of R2's line up changed over the past couple of years, it's quite possible we won't see much movement there, and R2 management might even decide to look elsewhere to bring in new presenters in future.
    • With OJ covering on bank holidays. She is the best person for the job however... they're going to end up with a situation like Scott covering R1 breakfast back in the day, where she spends quite a bit of time off her own slot covering Breakfast, plus her own holiday and other commitments. She's been filming for something recently which has meant she's been off several days a week since May. She was off last week, on breakfast this week, OJ is on Mon/Tues next week, then She's off the following two weeks.
    • Looking back at this I would say now that Sara is the main cover - I think she has been reestablished as it now
    • Purley on the R1 Dance station.. Someone on DS said don't expect to see any changes to the schedule on the new stations however if they are taking on Capital Dance with this, which they clearly are, which has live presenters 7am - 10pm except for the 11am mix then they'll surely have to have a proper scheduled set of shows. At the moment Arielle is the only "live" per say show and only "live" a few days a week with earlier shows being repeated Thursday Friday and Saturday. Connor and Charlie are clearly pre records but was this only for the time it was online only and they have already got a schedule ready to go on day 1? also of note is that Charlie is taking over a podcast as well as starting a new project with podcasting which makes me wonder if she is about to step back from Dance Anthems all together to concentrate on those and Connor takes over? So you could have Arielle doing 9-12 weekdays live then someone else 12-3 and Connor live 3-6 on R1D and doing Dance Anthems on a Saturday.
    • As none of the Going Home Team aren't currently on the air, that's a bit if an issue. Considering most of the Dance DJs will be out there, I'm surprised none of them are being utilised to host the 1-4 slot that weekend.
    • Going Home presenters have done the last few years ?
    • Nat and Vicky are being sent to Ibiza this year. They’ll be live on Friday 1st August from 1-4pm.
    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
