With the latest figures suggesting that Chris Moyles popularity is on the wane, William Hill have opened a book on who will replace him, making Scott Mills their even money favourite.

"Chris Moyles is the one that needs saving and we would not be surprised if someone else is in position next year," said Hill's spokesman Rupert Adams

1/1 Scott Mills

6/1 Greg James

6/1 Vernon Kay

8/1 Nick Grimshaw

8/1 Fearne Cotton

12/1 Sara Cox

20/1 Edith Bowman

20/1 Jo Whiley

25/1 Lauren Laverne

25/1 Russell Brand

If Greg took over breakfast naxt year, and if he performed as he does now, he will not last long on breakfast. He is a nice guy and a good DJ, but it takes more to survive on the breakfast show. I would even say that he still has to improve a bit to be a decent lunchtime presenter.

I think he would do drivetime.

Mills won't do it, im not sure his style & humor work that well on breakfast.

Brand & Wossy would be :P

not sure from the list above,

1/1 Scott Mills - reason above

6/1 Greg James - not good enough (as has been said above)

6/1 Vernon Kay - its to much work, he wants more time with family + the USA

8/1 Nick Grimshaw - not his style

8/1 Fearne Cotton - taken over Jo's show & people don't like her

12/1 Sara Cox - another baby on the way & she has done the show before

20/1 Edith Bowman - small child, to much work maybe (to old)

20/1 Jo Whiley - small child, to much work (to old)

25/1 Lauren Laverne - would be good, but it's not her style

25/1 Russell Brand - wouldn't have the time

i think it will have to be some sort of a team, like Moyles & Evans + many others, not sure if it will be female, people didn't seem to like Ball & Cox when they did the show, i think they may bring someone in from another station to do the show.

He may not even be going!!!!

Yep, Moyles wants to do 10 years of the breakfast show and he still has 7million listeners.

However, I thought Vernon was great when he took over during when Chris was on holiday.

If Chris was to go and Scott replaces him, they can't put it down to age (since they share the same age) and the listening figures are great and since Chris wants to stay... I don't see him going any time soon.

Chris Moyles could be replaced by Scott Mills on the Breakfast Show on Radio One according to the latest odds from William Hill.

Scott Mills Could Take Advantage Of Lack Of Interest In Moyles

The latest listening figures suggest that the popularity of the outspoken Moyles, who is now stranger to controversy, is on the decline and William Hill think he soon could be replaced. Scott Mills is the favourite to land the Breakfast Show, which he hosts when Moyles is absent, and Mills can be backed at even money. If Mills fails to land the gig then it seems likely Greg James or Vernon Kay could get the job, both are 6/1 with William Hill.

Fearne Cotton Is Most Likely Female To Land The Breakfast Show

Nick Grimshaw currently hosts a show on Sunday and it is possible he could be moved to weekdays, he is 8/1 with William Hill and that price also applies to the most likely female to get the job, Fearne Cotton. To find out the odds on Sara Cox, Jo Whiley or even Russell Brand landing the job as Breakfast Show host, visit the William Hill website.

How old is this news? Or how out of touch are William Hill?

I think Vernon would be the best bet. He could keep Chris's team.

Having said that Vernon is old before his time and very right wing in his views.

I'm sure the BBC are hoping for the younger, hipper and more politically correct Fern and Regie to take over in 5 years time

I don't think that will happen. If they replace Moyles, they will do a completely new show, new features and a new on-air team. Everything else would just be a "Moyles, you were not that bad, just too long in the job, go but we keep your team".thing. Not professional.

So is Moyles. But the show is not political, so that doesn't matter.

If Mills took over, that would be a short-term solution. One, maybe two years. Next on the list is Greg, who I think is not big enough fot the job (yet?).

In the Sun article about Moyles being sacked half a year or so ago, they said Reggie was on the list. I don't know what to think about that. I like him. Since he is doing his shows without Fearne, he is sounding much better. but breakfast? Depends on the format.

They could try and get someone from outside Radio 1. But I would not do that because you never now how listeners will react. I would want to have someone from inside if I was in their position.

    • Yeah they make the weekend shifts go so much quicker. Like today, the piece about Matt falling asleep in the cafe was funny, it's clear to see why they're going to weekdays. It could well be they were thinking of Danny for it and like you say have decided against that, or like I said at the start it's James Cusack and the slow down on the announcement is him getting out of his contract. Remember he works for radio 1's main rivals. I think it's quite telling that he's doing more r1 cover than usual, tomorrow and then a further 3 weekend shows in a row
    • Nat in for Dean with Vicky between the 28th-30th May.
    • I suspect they’re gonna tie the announcement into something, or they’ve changed plans. I know we’ve said it as a joke but I wonder if Aled was planning on giving it to someone like Danny Beard, but he’s decided against that after the last few weeks. Seems clear to me, though, that if Jordan hadn’t left, then Katie would’ve taken Dean and Vicky’s slot and Matt and Mollie would’ve stayed on weekends, which probably explains why they haven’t picked a replacement yet. If it was going to be the obvious choice, I.e. James Cusack, surely they would’ve announced it by now..?
    • Yep think they mentioned that this is their penultimate weekend of shows but then they will also be on air during Big Weekend and they mentioned they'll be doing 'Party Anthems' on stage during Big Weekend which sounds intriguing. Will miss Matt & Mollie on weekends - they in particular have made that Friday afternoon slot their own - but they'll be great on weekdays. Do wonder if 'Summer on Radio 1' is just a placeholder name until they decide on who will cover the interim. While it's obviously not the case it does feel like they've forgotten there's that weekend afternoon slot to fill given no permenant presenter has been announced for it yet.
    • Zoe Ball is back on the breakfast show on Monday.
    • Just listening to matt and mollie at work and heard them say it's their second to last show on weekends
    • And Arielle mentioned in her Instagram post that her final early breakfast show is the 27th of June - the Thursday before Glastonbury
    • When Matt covered breakfast on 22nd April, he said their new show was starting in 10 weeks, so that’d be the 1st July.
    • Would love for it to be like the Summer Friday Thing that me and @DC were remisincing about recently. Lots of events going on that could easily form part of it.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/summer/cardiff/thursday/1.shtml
    • I'm guessing there is also a stack of weekend events like Glastonbury
    • I think more likely it'll just be a temp presenter for weekends 1-4 to give Matt & Mollie time off, plus time to plan and pilot the new show.
    • Yeah I don’t think they’ll be anything that drastic - maybe a week or 2 of cover on early breakfast etc, but maybe just having that weekend afternoon slot covered over the summer means they can put someone on from September who maybe isn’t available until then?
    • But they said the main changes would happen in July.
    • But they said the main changes would happen in July.
    • I wouldn't be surprised if they do this around June time: 05.00 Ore Olukoga 07.00 Greg James 10.30 RMC 14.00 VKJ  That'll probably happen (for my guess) from the 17th June. And for weekends: 07:00 Sam & Danni 11:00 Gregor Davidson 15:00 Charlie Hedges Maybe Fridays aswell: 07:00 Greg James 11:00 Gregor Davidson 14:30 Jack Saunders
