Apple iPod and iPhone

I got myself an iPod touch last week so disappointed to see they've announced some price cuts for it this week. However, I'm pleased nothing too exciting is out this year in that range other than a 64GB version.

Apple have announced new OS 3.1 software for the iPod Touch and iPhone.

There is also a few modifications in a new iTunes - version 9.0 - and sees the launch of iTunes LPs.

Apple have announced slightly new models of the iPod Shuffle and a new generation of iPod Nanos which feature FM radio which can be paused, a pedometer, a video camera, microphone and speaker built in.

I assume your new touch came with firmware 2.2.1. If you fancy updating without shelling out £5.99. Then try here http://www.felixbruns.de/iPod/firmware/

it pulls the updates direct from apples server and so always has the latest os.

Just download the update the hold down shift and press restore in iTunes then bobs ya actual uncle.

Download the Adam and Joe & Jon Richardson podcasts now!

I probably would have tried that. At least Apple were nice and let my sister update hers with the same £5.99 purchase and 3.1.1 comes free for those who got 3.0.

I've had an ipod touch for about 3 months (bought for birthday present) and it's good as I wanted more songs and able to get videos and games on to it. Only problem is trying to figure out how to get the wireless connection working on it.

I also downloaded itunes 9 a week ago - also pretty impressed with that as well.

Rather than make a new thread:

Orange have today confirmed they will be stocking the iPhone from later this year whilst O2 continue to stock them as well

<roottag> APPLE'S iPhone will be available to Orange customers in the UK later this year scrapping O2's exclusive deal.

The announcement by Orange ends months of speculation it was trying to muscle in on O2's deal with Apple.

O2 has had exclusive UK rights to the iPhone since 2007.

The 3G and 3GS versions will be available to Orange UK customers "later this year", but no further details of dates, handset costs or tariffs are available yet, the firm said.

An Orange spokesman said it "will sell iPhone in all Orange direct channels including Orange shops, the Orange webshop and Orange telesales channels, as well as selected high street partners".

A pre-registration site for customers to log their interest was launched at orange.co.uk/iPhone.

Amusing article which I tend to agree with. I do find Apple users attitudes' somewhat evangelical, and personally don't mind swearing every now and then at my Microsoft lump of a laptop to be honest.

PS. This might not be the right place to post this, but couldn't find any Apple Vs Microsoft debate thread.

theres no debate, because it's so obvious how much better Macs are. Even Microsoft have given up trying to say they're better and just content with reminding as all that they're crap programming is much cheaper.

That said, I'm rather fond of Windows 7... But it's still a poor substitute for a Mac :D :D
