  1. You're getting 2 things confused. One, app killers, as you're talking about there (which as noted in the article I linked aren't really a good idea) - and second, mobile internet - internet capabilities, 3G, and turning that off. That's different to not opening the internet app.
  2. Well, if you're abroad it's a must otherwise the costs will be huge. Then - it could just be to avoid more charges. Maybe for sake of battery power. But most of the time you might as well have it on as it makes phones so much more useful.
  3. Both of those won't help with the internet problem. And also, you shouldn't use task killers on Android. To turn off the internet, just hold down power 'til the menu comes up, bottom option, Mobile Internet. To turn it off mostly for good rather than just occasionally like that is good for, home screen > press MENU > Settings > Wireless & networks > remove the check on Mobile network.
  4. Not awful. Well, I think they're alright - the production doesn't seem quite right on them, eg the end as discussed on Moyles, it's too abrupt and doesn't blend - and the ramp doesn't really build, it's just STRAIGHT IN FULL MUSIC. They're not bad, and I think when people get used to getting the right levels they'll sound a bit better - sometimes the volume has been a bit low on the stabs when going in to the next bed and it looses some impact. However, I love them for the amount of content it gave Moyles this morning. Listen / Watch / Cher, the other Listen... ideas and their remixes were hilarious.
  5. Listen to Moyles this morning, there was a chunk of him going through all the different variations of the beds.
  6. All the shows will technically be Chris Moyles and Comedy Dave as the hosts. Chris will be driving the desk, and the other presenters will be the guests/sidekicks through their normal slots, getting as close to normal features as possible. Chris and Dave need to speak in each link (when they're not in a break).
  7. Full press release: He's already climbed Kilimanjaro, but now BBC Radio 1's Chris Moyles is set to mount a new challenge – but this time it's to stay awake for more than 37 hours, as he attempts to break the record for the station's longest show in history, all in aid of Red Nose Day*. The record which currently stands at 37 hours was set by Simon Mayo for Comic Relief in 1999, and from 6.30am on Wednesday 16 March, Chris, accompanied by his sidekick Comedy Dave, will attempt to smash the record – with support and encouragement from fellow Radio 1 DJs and celebrity guests along the way as they get more and more tired. Throughout the record-breaking attempt the duo have to present each show in the schedule with the regular DJ as a guest, so Chris and Dave will be broadcasting with the likes of Fearne Cotton and Scott Mills through to the late night specialist DJs including Nick Grimshaw and Benji B which will be a completely new experience for them both! Chris and Dave are aiming to break Simon Mayo's record at 7.30pm on Thursday 17 March. The record attempt will also be broadcast live in-vision on digital TV via the Red Button and online at bbc.co.uk/radio 1. Each hour that Chris and Dave are on air they will be entitled to a five-minute break which they can either take each hour or save up to earn a longer sleep later on. Chris Moyles says: "In 2009 I broke the record for being the longest-serving Breakfast DJ on Radio 1, so I thought, why not go for broadcasting the longest radio show on Radio 1 too! Of course I'm worried about what the lack of sleep will do to me, but the pain will be worth it if we can raise a fortune for Comic Relief." Comedy Dave adds: "I'd love to say I'm really excited about it, but every time we talk about the project I feel tired and start yawning!!" Andy Parfitt, Controller, BBC Radio 1, says: "Last week Radio 1 listeners raised over £500,000 for Red Nose Day – once again our listeners have been amazingly generous. Time and time again they surpass our expectations and I know they'll get behind Chris and Dave as they embark on this amazing challenge." BBC Radio 1 is available on FM, digital TV and online at bbc.co.uk/radio1. -- Wednesday 16 March 6.30am – 10.00am The Chris Moyles Show 10.00am-1.00pm Fearne Cotton 1.00pm-3.30pm Greg James 3.30pm-4.00pm The Official Chart Update with Greg James 4.00pm-7.00pm Scott Mills 7.00pm-9.00pm Mistajam 9.00pm-10.00pm Chris Moyles and Comedy Dave 10.00pm-12.00am Nick Grimshaw Thursday 17 March 12.00am-2.00am Chris Moyles and Comedy Dave 2.00am-4.00am Benji B 4.00am-6.30am Dev 6.30am-10.00am Chris Moyles Show 10.00am-1.00pm Fearne Cotton 1.00pm-4.00pm Greg James 4.00pm-7.00pm Scott Mills 7.00pm-9.00pm Mistajam
  8. As always, Andy Fake Parfitt on Twitter has brilliantly summed up what's happening: Fun with Ben yesterday, told him he could only keep daytime 1xtra DJs he could name! Voila, new line-up!
  9. Woah, that surprised me...
  10. I'm more annoyed that I know it won't come to me, because they stuck the R1 student tour here. So close with having R1 here, yet so far from getting team Moyles.
  11. Darwin Deez will be playing the Live Lounge on Tuesday, live in Lincoln. They won't be playing Zane's show on the Tuesday (but will the Monday). I'm rather excited as I'm gonna be taking pictures of it.
  12. Can someone text in "be enthusiastic" Nah she'd ask Scott to do that one.
  13. Zane's doing a separate Uni tour - DJ Hero 2 Tour. Woo, Lincoln, that's where I am, and already chatting with the press office. Fun times.
  14. awinfield999, what's the track at 5min10? Well, I recognise the track cos it's from the CD I use for something, but when's it used on Radio 1?
  15. To be fair it was a shite performance.
  16. You can see Scott doing some of it now at http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/features/edinburgh/2010-royal-mile/

  18. Also, if tracks are not for exclusive use, they could be relicensed later, or resung, or whatever. There is a LOT of money in library music - you can make a lot off it! Each bed or theme you hear is PRS eligible just like songs are.
  19. To be fair, they have their proper jobs to do - and they have little reason for them to share to just enthusiasts.
  20. Sure you are. Is it going to be like last year when I found you hungover at 4pm?
  21. Cheers to the rest of you, twas a good day and I played a Doctor Who board game. Amusingly, I turn 19 yesterday and today something I did for Newsbeat was on and I say I'm 18. What wonderful timing.
  22. Could be a policy change, partly to do with online - if a DJ is covering for a while (rather than a last minute fill in due to illness) it's listed as them - so it comes under their program site? Matt Edmonson's covers for Vernon Kay were until I think last week under Vernon's show, but are now episodes of Matt's.
  23. Even more work for Aled and he's still out of contract (according to this morning's Moyles show).
  24. Hardly a waste. It's an easy change - they'll keep try versions. The composer will make the music, R1's station sound will add voiceovers most likely.
