The thing that annoys me is they can't keep someone on Weekend Breakfast for more than five minutes. Lord knows what the ratings are like. Fearne and Reggie, Nihal, Grimmy. It just seems to be a holding ground along with the Lie In.

If Kelly Osbourne is holding out on her return to the Surgery perhaps she's going to take over from Grimmy on Weekend Breakfast ;) Never say never...!

I think its just they put somebody on Weekend Breakfast, then quickly realise they arn't going to make the cut and arnt going to get the ratings. The Sooner t'BBC realise that Saturday breakfast on radio and television arn't what they used to be for listeners, then the sooner it will get better for us.

I just want something new within radio, new ideas, new something! Moyles does a great job of this sometimes but alot of his ideas have come from Howard Stern. Thats why I like Howard stern so much.....Is it too much to ask for something new? Too much for somebody to sit down and think of an idea all by themselves instead of spinning someone else's idea which has in turn been spun from someone else.....

'The Shuffle', 'The Golden Hour', The Connection', 'The Randomiser', Whatever else they do....its all the dam same! Across Commercial & Non-Commercial Radio...

No idea where i am going with this now....

Bye.

PS. @DarkAngelMJH : Chappers & Dave would be great to start with but would then start to loose the appeal and the loyal listeners who get up every morning to hear breakfast, would slowly start to not tune in. So it dosen't really make any differance to R1.

i would rather hear colin murray than "grimmy", i hardly know who the hell he is. but all of a sudden it's being made out like radio 1 is incapable of running without him. i admit that murray has never been my favorite presenter, but i've learned to respect him a lot more since he moved over to his night time show. especially after the interview he did with mark radcliffe on the 40 years of radio 1 anniversary.

i don't know what radio 1's obsession with the kiddie theme is at the moment, i understand that the station is for young people but this is really a bit much. they'll be having the iggle piggle power hour next. parfitt you loon.

on the grid.

Pahahahahaha. I seriously couldn't have put that better myself.

I am absolutely gutted. This is really going to ruin my evenings as I always listen to Colin whilst doing university work. It really isn't going to be the same no matter who replaces him but Grimmy definitely isn't the right person to do it. The evening show is rather specific and there are very few DJ's who should be permitted to do it - Colin, Huw, Steve Lamacq or maybe Rob da Bank. I don't mind Grimmy, but he should really stay away from Colin's slot. Bad bad news...

Huw instead of Grimey please, without a doubt. Wrong choice :(

Huw already has a slot on R1 INMWT, maybe he doesn't want to do anymore? he fills in for Zane when he ain't around, which is quite a bit maybe only beaten by Scott :P

I reckon Grimmey should be given a chance, if he can't do it they won't keep him in the slot. Maybe Annie Mac helped him get it?

Oh for f*ck's sake, they're not seriously replacing Colin with Grimmy are they? Rubbish. I'm genuinely really gutted about this, I loved Colin's evening show to bits and always listened to it before going to sleep. If the show was handed over to the right person it might still work but they really couldn't have made a worse choice than Grimmy. Guess I'll have to go back to listening to 6 Music at bedtime when I'm back in the UK then...

Well I'm sad. I love hearing Colin on Radio 1, he's the sort of DJ Radio 1 sould pride themselves on having.

But...

This is a good move for him. I'm a big sports fan and love his style of presenting. In my opinion he'll be a real asset to Five Live so good luck to him. I also don't get to hear him that often. Five Live suits him so good luck Colin. As for Grimmy, I'm not a huge fan on weekend breakfast, he's OK but this is a totally different show, different feel so I reserve my judgement until I have heard him on it.

I think we're in for a major shake up in September, possibly earlier. It seems a lot of BBC Radio is changing. I know it's not going to make a difference or indeed happen but for the record this is what I'd do with the place.

7:00am - 10:00am Nick Grimshaw

God, howcome everyone keeps moving Greg from weekdays? Doing weekend isn't a step up for any presenter, apart from if you are doing overnights or something...... I think it will be pretty much the same:

Weekdays

4:00am - 6:30am | Greg James

6:30am - 10:00am | The Chris Moyles Show

10:00am - 1:00pm | Jo Whiley

1:00pm - 4:00pm | Edith Bowman

4:00pm - 7:00pm | Scott Mills

7:00pm - 9:00pm | Zane Lowe

10:00pm - 0:00am | Grimmy/New Presenter OR Switch Weekdays.

Saturday

6:00am - 10:00am Nihal (Sat & Sun)

(I hate for this to sound racist, etc, but they have to keep him to fill their 'quota', if you get what i meen!)

10:00am - 1:00pm Vernon Kay

1:00pm - 4:00pm Sara Cox (Sat & Sun)

4:00pm - 7:00pm Fearne & Reggie (Sat & Sun)

Swapping Greg for Ronnie? As Jono once said "I'm trying so hard to find the sarcasm in that post..."

Yes in order to give Greg a day time slot and enable him to comfotably fill in for other DJ's. I'd rather Greg be on at a more sociable hour of the day where he can reach a new audience. He has the perfect sound for weekends.

Yeah. It's always early breakfast > weekends > daytime.

Moyles went from early breakfast to Saturday to afternoons. Scott went from early breakfast to weekends to afternoons. As did Fearne and Reggie. I would like to hear him on weekends next.
