I've invented loads of stuff over the years that has been nicked. The iPod was my invention and the bangers and mash cone for winter was my idea too!

My missus parents live on a hill in the middle of the countryside and it's easier for them to use the real fire than have the central heating on. For her birthday she wanted to know what she was getting and her dad replied with.

"You'll be lucky to get some coal this year from me!"

Except it didn't quite come out that way.

Sometimes here, sometimes not.

My sister found some cheap accommodation for our trip to London about a year ago so I texted her something along the lines of "I'll love you forever! If you need me to do anything for you all you have to do is ask xxx"

Mhmm. It got sent to an ex who was just above her in my contacts. It had recently ended. He said he loved me so I said that I could never see him again...

The reply I got back was "I can think of plenty of things ;) thanks for giving me a chance. xxx"

I felt like such a bitch when I realised I had to break his heart all over again...

Yep... He doesn't like me anymore...

I was texting away with a friend and 02 rudely interrupted with another one of their pointless notices, I got mixed up due to it and replied to 02 with, "i'm just on my way to Asda now".

I wasn't that bothered just didn't really know what would happen. My phone give me a reasurring message saying "error" shortly after.

Heh I get lots of annoying texts from O2 as well. Sometimes they send me photo messages.

I just got a text from a friend and then I got a text from the bank about 20 seconds later telling me my balance. I nearly texted the bank back asking it how bad its hangover is... not sure what would happen if I did that.

I accidentally sent a text to my old boss which had been intended for my former boyfriend. I told him to come and pick me up from work after I had finished. It wasn't that bad (could've been worse!) and in this instance the embarrassment derived from knowing I had made a mistake to the last person you'd want to rather from the content of the text.

I know too many Jo- names. Today I texted my ex Jonathan saying how I wanted to get back together and how I couldn't get him off my mind, after I had a long conversation with him last night and he was being all sweet and I couldn't believe I dumped him etc etc.

Sent it to Jono.

Actually, thank God I did. I remembered why I broke up with the tosser. The second I hit send I was thinking "Oh sh*t. Seriously? Do I really want to get back with him? NO."

Blarg. Was utterly mortified.

I don't know what's worse, sending a drunken text to an ex full of implication. Or not getting a reply back?

Not getting a reply.

It annoys me when someone doesnt text back, would it kill you to return a message?!? :|

I always seem to text people I shouldn't when I'm drunk as I am now. I either text the "wrong" person who I swore I wouldn't text again or I text the wrong message. Texting someone I barely know something wholely inappropriate. I can't help being a terrible flirt. It's genetic I swear!

Being an abject coward doesn't help either. I get drawn into conversations with people I don't want to text or end up having to appologise profusely in the morning!

Sometimes here, sometimes not.

    • Oh boy, if that's the case above then what are they trying to do at r1? If Danny was put into weekend afternoons that's one hell of a faux par and a big nail in the coffin. While ok, Nat and Vicky aren't about to blow the doors off and are only there as the fallout of d&v, but to then follow that up with Danny for 3 days a week. Come on. To go from a place where we had Katie followed by M&M to that. What happened to the prestigiousness of r1? Do they need reminding they've just lost Jordan? It's getting embarrassing. Like I said before, when I had people with 0 interest in radio whatsoever and it was in the background telling me to turn it off, you know it's bad. I saw a random friend from years ago even posting on fb with how has someone like Danny ended up on r1. Everywhere you turn its negative. Doesn't that multiply across the uk in what the r1 audience actually think of this presenter? I'm in the LGBTQ+ community and also r1 target audience but I don't feel I want to listen to this presenter because of that fact. Has some policy actually overtaken the true risk of driving audiences away? The fact is just how @coffeeandgin said, Danny has had chance since March with 2 shows a week and is still not up to the job. The odd podcast yes but certainly not to replace m&m! I've skipped through 10 minutes of this week to make sure I wasn't basing opinions on how it was before and yes it is the same level. When you had presenters like Scott who could keep it fresh despite how many years it had been, but then Danny sounds so out of date already, saying you could tune over to Rylan on r2... but then with a topic of "I want to know what have you missed out on?" I'm sorry?! What kind of local radio is that... it's meant to be radio 1 ffs. Terrible talking points, cringe, unfunny, and so bad on the radio it actually makes it jarring and makes people switch over.
    • I don’t think it will be September it will be a very messy schedule if that’s the case
    • As a member of the LGBTQ+ community my position is exactly yours on female representation.  Yes I want representation but only on merit.   Even if Radio 1 would like more representation from this sector, there are stacks of better options than Danny Beard.
    • I hope you're right! I remember some years ago hearing that the biggest show at a weekend was mid-mornings, but not sure if that's changed with the changing pattern of radio listening in general. Given the best show at the weekend (by a distance) is M&M, would make sense that's now the biggest slot.
    • Someone on here said recently weekend afternoons have a big audience. I think you'd want some of your biggest talent here. Which is why there was talk of a reshuffle. I couldn't personally see Danny in this slot if they decided to keep him.
    • I understand that representation is important. And I can't speak for the LGBTQ+ community. But, as a woman in my mid 30s, I have seen a massive shift towards 'having more women' in every industry/organisation in my lifetime. I have always felt that it should be on merit and capability to carry out a role effectively, rather than just filling a role as a specific gender. Women can be fantastic at everything, but on a personal level I would not want to be hired, for example, as a firefighter  just because I was the only female candidate. I am 5 foot nothing and could not carry you out of a burning building.
    • If they were going to do this, wouldn’t it make more sense to keep Danny at 10.30am and move Nat and Vicky to 1pm? I feel the idea of giving someone a job largely because of their sexuality isn’t particularly good either…
    • Right so prediction time. I think “Summer on Radio 1” which is on the schedule for Friday to Sunday 1-4 from June sticks around longer than the other changes in July. I think that lasts until September which is when we get the new weekend afternoon show. I think they’ll want to give Danny longer on air to see if they improve. I can’t see that happening, so my guess is in September they move Sam & Danni to weekend afternoons (at that point they’ll have been on weekend breakfast for a full year), and they bring James Cusack in to do weekend breakfast.
    • If Aled decides to give Danny a full time role, even as part of a duo / trio, it'll be the most disappointing decision of his tenure. The fact Danny is still on air and hasn't been quietly moved on 'due to a change in plan' is bad enough!
    • I'd say Danny has been given a fair hearing - and hasn't been up to par. You don't want Radio 1 to be a closed shop - but not being able to usually get the Whatsapp number right should be a dealbreaker. Errors happen even to the best DJs at times but if you can't get the Whatsapp number right you really shouldn't have a regular role on the station. But if they really are that desperate to have Danny on the schedule full-time then pair him up with somebody who can actually handle the technical side. You think of all the capable DJs who are in duos and trios and then you have just have a rookie like Danny left solo.  The LGBTQ+ point too I have to say if true as a gay man feels a case of proper discrimination. It's good to have LGBTQ+ representation for sure but the key thing is that the DJ is good at the end of the day and say in 2021 there was loads of LGBTQ+ talent on Radio 1 in Scott, Grimmy and Adele Roberts among others but at the end of the day they were strong DJs entirely there on merit. And even now there's still LGBTQ+ talent on Radio 1 who are there primarily because they're bloody good broadcasters. Danny is not one of them.
    • There is a reason you don't know who is doing weekend afternoons yet. The plan is still to see how Danny Beard's trial goes on weekend mornings. Newspaper clippings have demonstrated Aled has been keen to push Danny Beard at the weekend and to give him a fair hearing. The plan looks to be to wait and see whether he improves in the next few weeks. The bosses still want more LBGTQ+ representation on the station.
    • I think they should just bring that back as was. It's been nearly 20 years, so do it with a whole bunch of new DJ's.
    • I think this year has taught us we know nothing 🙂 Nobody would ever have credibly predicted Jordan leaving and all the changes that followed.   I have another interest outside radio and it is exactly the same - the stuff you never expect to happen is exactly what does.
    • Yeah they make the weekend shifts go so much quicker. Like today, the piece about Matt falling asleep in the cafe was funny, it's clear to see why they're going to weekdays. It could well be they were thinking of Danny for it and like you say have decided against that, or like I said at the start it's James Cusack and the slow down on the announcement is him getting out of his contract. Remember he works for radio 1's main rivals. I think it's quite telling that he's doing more r1 cover than usual, tomorrow and then a further 3 weekend shows in a row
    • Nat in for Dean with Vicky between the 28th-30th May.
