    • OJ's been on Radio 2 permanently about the same time as Gary has. They both took overnights and SOT80's respectively 2018 (but OJ used to cover for Janice Long a few years before that, though. I personally think OJ is a big enough name for the R2 audience to take over teatime. I'm sure moving drivetime to Salford wouldn't be too difficult to sort out. It comes from there sometimes anyway when Sara is on Morning Live, and sometimez when OJ has covered. I don't think Gary is going to get a permanent slot at this stage. The amount he covers for the likes of Vernon and Trevor across the year probably works for him. Rylan does too much outside Radio 2, and if I'm honest.. as much as I love his Saturday afternoon show, Drivetime is a totally different set up with tight timings to adhere to. I don't think he'd suit that. For me, the same applies to Romesh, Emma, Rylan and Paddy.
    • Won't get to hear Sara hardly now she's moved to breakfast.
    • I dont't think Rylan will do it as he might be hosting Strictly
    • I would be suprised if he doesn't. I betted (not money just predicted) that Sara would get breakfast and she did and I will bet again OJ will probably take drive, they need to steady the ship, and keep it familiar.... A few reasons maybe why not to be the devils advacote... 1. He can't commit to commuting to London daily, and they won't let him do it in or move the show to Manchester, but it could be a significant payrise for him and he could trade that off to stay in London for the week  2. He is not big enough (yes he deserves the gig for sure, but a bigger more established name like Gary or Rylan?)  3. His current 12-3am show suits family life, from what I understand he does the show then the morning school run before going to bed then gets up for the afternoon run spends the evening with the kids, puts the family to bed and leaves about 1030pm for work, doing drive would kill that completely esp if it was from London  4. He has been the main deputy, and in Radio we all know the stand in doesn't get the gig, ala Coxy when Zoe got it, she knew she wasn't getting it then, it just happened Mayo went at the same time and Sara was allocated the second biggest slot on the station, and I doubt she would have got it in the future post Scott (in like 2035, if he lasted the ten years Evans did and we were predicting he would have) but would have been the main holiday cover for Scott, it's only these circumstances that have led to her appointment, not that she is second best, or the runner up by any stretch of the imagination but still, if this hadn't have taken place then history could ahve been very different where the show is concerned.  5. If anyone deserves a regular weekday slot it is Gary, he has been on the station longer than OJ, and been the stand in for many shows across the schedule, I think he has covered all of the daytime slots except for Vine??? (someone correct me if wrong) unless Gary is just happy depping for all the other slots and doing SOT80s still.  6. Owain Wynn Evans seems to be the man of the moment there, so if they are going to promote anyone it would be him? he could feasably do it and drop breakfast on BBC Wales?    More spin Now they will have to find another regular dep for the Breakfast show as well. We know Mark covered the "gap" and the Christmas holidays but outside of that it seemd they were using Sara for Scott's main holidays and OJ for the ad hoc bits so maybe OJ now as a boobie prize for not getting drive instead becomes the regular stand in for Sara on breakfast. Maybe as he has held the show down in this bleak period Gary becomes the main dep.    Opinion  Not that this excites me but it does, although as I have been posting all along, I am absolutely devestated for Scott, Sam and Teddy, and gutteed about this whole scenario however I am still excited to listen to Sara and her take on the programme, what her new imaging will sound like and all (yes Gary is still using Scott's old theme music with a hybrid into his own SOT80s beds) I seriously thought that from week 2 Scott's theme would vanish, in favour of the presenters regular idents. Remember when presenters join or have a show they have that shows imaging but along side that they have a generic set of "xxxxx on Radio 2" with different tempo mixouts and sweepers, and I assumed they would default to that for the time being, and not want to remind everyone of Scott's identity for the transition period (now Sara has been announced we may see this happen next week onwards) but it seems they are not bothered about the imaging and even on th ebank holidays OJ used the whole package beds and ramps and all.    Recomended Listening  Times Radios Podcast "Off air with Jane and Fi" from 23rd April, about 40 mins in Jermey Vine is their guest, mostly promoting his new novel but also talks about Sara being appointed and they ask about Scott, he says he is none the wiser still, but has heard from Scott via text, and predicts the only way we will learn the truth is from Scott himself, when one day he talks about it, and predicts this will happen in the near future (maybe he knows Scott is planning to tell his story) what he did touch on is that the BBC will make no further comment and are not expected to and it would have to come from Scott. Maybe Scott will do a deal with ITV or Channel 5 (Krishnan Garu Murphy for example) to interview him over his downfall, for a fee when he needs some cash.... I suspect there are legailities that prevent him speaking at the moment if he is in a case against the BBC trying to get compo.    Next  Lets see what happens... for me Drive is  1. OJ  2. Gary 3. Owian or Rylan  4. New name  5. Someone from Radio 1 (Matt and Mollie??)
    • I predict OJ Borg will get the gig
    • Yeah know what you mean there, I don't really listen to the music on R1 but Gregs links more so. I think Half Wower will be a 9-930 Friday thing like the wonder years were for Scott.  All request Friday will stay on drive with the new host, that was there in the Mayo era and before him Evans on drive days (people forget Evans did drive on 2 after Walker finished until he went to Breakfast in 2009).
    • @Lee E I agree it does feel like a very muted announcement without a huge deal of celebration. I can understand them wanting to fix the current situation without making too much of a fuss, but as you say it's a huge promotion for Sara.  Maybe closer to the time of the show launching we will get a bit more fanfare for her. Just shows how difficult this has been for all involved. I heard her saying they would have to be very loose with their givaways of the new order of mugs and pencils. Although I took it to mean they might say Tea Time on them and won't fit in with the branding of the new show, not necessarily that the feature would be gone. I like Totally Tea Voted and think it would work great at 6.40. To replace Scott's chat with his 'Faithful' - even typing that makes me sad though. I'm not up that early but always listened back to it. Interesting to know that Pause for Thought has been going for so long! I work with a lady who adored Terry Wogan on the radio in the way that we all talk about Scott. The best there has ever been she says.  I love the half wower but I thought they might struggle to fit it in daily with all the guests that come and go on Breakfast. Would be nice to have it as a Friday treat though.  I am looking forward to Sara's new show, I'll feel like I'm cheating on Greg again but I am really feeling the grind of the R1 playlist in the mornings since switching back there.
