i like the pic of Stalin in the back ground :D

such a shame, & a sincere apology from Russel, hopefully he will be back at the BBC sometime (like Chris Evans) maybe Russel & Jonathan could do a pod-cast together a couple of times a month :)

the BBC should have stood by them & i do hold the BBC responsible as they should have acted quicker, but it took place ten days ago & Paul Dacre (editor of the DM, Peirs Morgan & Max Clifford blew it out of all proportion (tossers who i hope die painfully) are the real ones to blame.

im sure Russell won't be down for long, maybe he could be Jonathan Ross's first guest on his new channel 4 show ;)

only he knows, but he has never been afraid to admit his mistakes.

& i feel that he didn't have much choice & he may have been the one to get the sack so quiting makes him seem to be a bit more honorable & gives him more options & he would have been advised on the best thing to do.

it's just that now the pair seem to have more support swinging their way, but it seems that the younger people don't really get much of a say (not that im that young) the BBC needs to have presenters to attract younger listeners & viewers so ultimately the BBC cannot win, but i thought the BBC did the Radio-1 listeners proud by saying to counter all the complaints that the listeners of Radio-1 were backing Brand & Ross.

maybe next time we can succeed :)

united we stand, divided we fall, after all this is a war angrysmilymob.gif

I'm currently listening to 5 Live and they're making some good points about this, how the Mail picked up on it, how the press like to build up a hate figure, and how it shouldn't be top news ahead of the more important stories etc. They went through all of the front pages of tomorrow's newspapers and all of them were about the phone call!

It's beyond me how it's come to this...

The most powerful main in the world will be elected in 6 days- and THIS IS FRONT PAGE?

THIS RIGHT WING MEDIA DRIVEN BBC-BASHING DAILY MAIL DRIVEN FARCE?

WHAT ABOUT THE 16-25 DEMOGRAPHIC???? WHAT ABOUT US????

The BBC shouldnt have accepted this resignation. Brand was a fantastic entertainer. I hate the way the media go out to destroy these people. Why do the BBC stoop down to these cretins??? I will stab in the eye with a pencil anyone who I see reading a Daily Mail tomorrow. This got 2 COMPLAINTS when it was broadcast 10 days ago. Its the media that has made people complain- people who probaly havent listened in context. Aaaagh, I despise Post Hutton BBC. Have some balls.

As for Russell, I think it was clear he would be leaving soonish anyway. Matt had already left the show 6 weeks ago in strange circumstances.

The Daily Fail is now having a go at Mock The Week for making fun of the Queen...

Whatever happened to freedom of speech? It was just a joke! They make fun of her every week so why point this out now?! HAVE A SENSE OF ******* HUMOUR!!! :x

They were talking about that on Newsnight last night. Talk about making the situation worse for yourself, the BBC are feeding the papers fire more and more as they pick up on other incidences like that MTW one. George Alagiah and Emily Maitlis both grilled Mark Thompson as if they were beeb haters. STICK UP FOR YOUR OWN COMPANY!!

The the good thing to come out of this is thats Speed is being aired tonight rather than Friday night with Jonathan Ross!!

My opinion on the whole thing, a shambles that should never have happened. And I blame the programmes' producer and the controller of Radio 2 more than anyone.

They should have realised that they were working with two of the biggest most contreversial characters in the buissness, therefore with the programme not going out live, their should have been a strict editing process. There wasn't, it slipped through the net, which shouldn't have happened.

As for Russel, as much as I love him, he had to go. Its his show, he should have been more responsible. It's a real shame as it was a great show, and I believe he is a nice bloke who needs respecting for his decsision. His career will recover.

As for Ross, he should have had the sense to know he was taking it too far. He didn't and the 12 week suspension is an appropriate punishment. Young people may not see the problem in it, but it has offended the "Radio 2 listner" Good decsision Mark Thompson (BBC Director General). His show though may take a little time to recover, as some celeb's, particualrly older ones will not see him in the same light any more.

I love the fact this group almost has nearly the same amount of supporters as those who complained about the programme.

Another week and still the newspapers are going on about it. I notice Georgina is still grabbing as much money as she can from the tabloids. Even Parky thinks he needs to have a say on it.

How immature to describe Michael Parkinson as "a tosser". Whilst I'd agree his interviewing technique went downhill slightly of late, he obviously realised this and subsequently retired. At your age (despite evidence to the contrary, I'm assuming you're over 20, possibly in your 30s), I'd expect you to recall his golden days, when he delivered quality interviews on a weekly basis, and show him a little more respect! Jeez! You'll be telling us you've had his grand daughter next...

On the subject of R&J this is worth a read : http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2008/nov/03/jonathan-ross-russell-brand

'To disagree with three-fourths of the British public is one of the first requisites of sanity'.

Parky's no tosser, you'll make no friends stooping to that level. I however did fin it amusing that someone with a book out has appeared in the spotlight again to make a few comments about the saga.

It entertained me - I'd just popped on to post the link actually.
