I'm not feeling that great either, I think the stress of this past week of exams is starting to catch up with me, I've felt really tired and drained all day. Oh well, no more exams and I'm going home on Saturday, can't wait :D

I hope everyone else feels better soon. Flu and colds are rubbish. The dentist is horrible Viv, I hope your tooth gets better.

I managed to get hold of a second duvet and some blankets and got some decent sleep. I'm still tired and my throat hurts but I'm starting to feel better.

Eugh I'm a total insomniac now :(

I just cannot sleep well, and it's getting worse. I went to bed at 1AM last night, listening to Five Live as my friend told me too, he said it would help, and I didn't get to sleep till 5. as in FIVE AM. FIVE FLIPPING AM! It was so bad I didn't wake up till half past 4 this afternoon >_<

I dunno what to do, I haven't seen daylight since saturday now, it's pretty depressing... No daytime. I hate it.

I have had really bad insomnia Nik. Have you thought about trying Valeriana? It's homeopathic - this is the only type of treatment I'd ever consider for sleeplessness. Most, of the time it seems to have some effect for me, unless I'm particularly stressed.

Camomile tea also helps a bit.:)

Edit: mint tea for your self inflicted nausea Bumbly.

Bumble try mint tea or ginger tea, put some chopped fresh ginger or dried ginger powder in hot water and drink it, it's good for nausea.

Nik, I also suffer from insomnia. This is definitely the worst time of year for it because of the lack of daylight. The best advice I have is, set an alarm for the morning and get up. You need to get your body clock back working and the best way is to deprive yourself of sleep and see daylight. Set several alarms for 10am and force yourself to get up, even if you've only been asleep a few hours. Go outside and spend at least an hour walking in the daylight. Then go to bed at a reasonable time in the evening. Keep getting up every morning, regardless of how little sleep you've had, and in a few days you should be sleeping better hours and feeling generally better.

My feet and legs hurt from all the walking I've been doing lately.

That's a really nasty combination Heather :( can you get all that considered by the university? Can you even take an exam in that state..? I hope you get better soon.

I need to take the exam. My only other option is to hand in my doctors line and do the resit at the end of the summer but I'm hoping to spend next summer at Camp America and have already paid about a quarter of the money and if I need to resit the exam then I wont be able to go. I'm hoping I feel a bit better tomorrow - even if it is only for the 2 hour exam then I might just go home a few days early.

Lots of luck for the exam tomorrow Heather. Get yourself to bed with a hottie (I mean a hot water bottle!) and a cup of herbal tea soon though.

I hope everyone who is ill gets better soon.

My little girl came down with a fever and a sore throat yesterday :(

She is supposed to be doing her school play this evening, she has the lead role and could barely speak this morning. I have to pick her up at one o'clock and the teacher will let me know if she is allowed to do the play. I'm keeping everything crossed for her as she will be heartbroken if she isn't allowed to perform. That and the fact that the class bully is down as her understudy.

Take plenty of pain killers (but not too many!) and you should be able to get through the exam. There's medication available that will take away most symptoms in the short term, go to the chemist (or get a friend to go) and stock up. I managed to do an exam in first year after spending a weekend ill with a stomach bug.

I really hope everyone does get better soon.

I only just found out today, 48 hours before I'm due to fly home, that the shuttle bus that links one of the Strasbourg tram lines with the airport was taken out of service 3 days ago. Bugger. So I now have just under 48 hours to find an alternative way of getting to the airport on Saturday morning. I think I've managed to find a train service that goes to the airport though so hopefully that should work, but it does now mean I have to try and negotiate my way around Strasbourg train station which only seems to confuse me more every time I go there. And I'll have to change trams twice in order to get there from my hall, which isn't exactly ideal when you're carrying one enormous suitcase and two very heavy bags with you. God, I can't wait to get home...........

Sounds like a nightmare journey Helen. Leave as much time as you can and make sure you have a map. I hope it goes ok.

My mum just started ranting about how she can't be expected to deal with everyone's food likes and dislikes. As though it's my fault that I'm a fussy eater. After 18 months of living with IBS, she still doesn't understand at all and thinks I just make it up to be awkward.

Grr parents. I've got used to having complete control over when and what I eat, and it's not nice having that control taken away.

I have never felt so rough as i have done for the last 2 weeks.

My head's spinning, I keep nearly blacking out, i have no energy and i am working stupidly long hours at work. My dad is being a complete moron, i have my driving test on Monday and i'm coming down with a cold, and have been for 2 weeks, I keep trying to put it off. I haven't been sleeping well at all and i keep on feeling sick.

Roll on January.

Yay so my best friend got a gf, barely talks to me anymore and then let her use his phone to send me abusive texts. I told him if he ever let that happen again then he can forget it and this morning I got more. So I dun lost a best friend of 6 years for some girl who is jealous that I said I miss him and a song reminded me of him because it's one of his favourites.

It's fupping ridiculous and I have no idea when/if I'll talk to him again.

Merry Christmas...

    • I think they should just bring that back as was. It's been nearly 20 years, so do it with a whole bunch of new DJ's.
    • I think this year has taught us we know nothing 🙂 Nobody would ever have credibly predicted Jordan leaving and all the changes that followed.   I have another interest outside radio and it is exactly the same - the stuff you never expect to happen is exactly what does.
    • Yeah they make the weekend shifts go so much quicker. Like today, the piece about Matt falling asleep in the cafe was funny, it's clear to see why they're going to weekdays. It could well be they were thinking of Danny for it and like you say have decided against that, or like I said at the start it's James Cusack and the slow down on the announcement is him getting out of his contract. Remember he works for radio 1's main rivals. I think it's quite telling that he's doing more r1 cover than usual, tomorrow and then a further 3 weekend shows in a row
    • Nat in for Dean with Vicky between the 28th-30th May.
    • I suspect they’re gonna tie the announcement into something, or they’ve changed plans. I know we’ve said it as a joke but I wonder if Aled was planning on giving it to someone like Danny Beard, but he’s decided against that after the last few weeks. Seems clear to me, though, that if Jordan hadn’t left, then Katie would’ve taken Dean and Vicky’s slot and Matt and Mollie would’ve stayed on weekends, which probably explains why they haven’t picked a replacement yet. If it was going to be the obvious choice, I.e. James Cusack, surely they would’ve announced it by now..?
    • Yep think they mentioned that this is their penultimate weekend of shows but then they will also be on air during Big Weekend and they mentioned they'll be doing 'Party Anthems' on stage during Big Weekend which sounds intriguing. Will miss Matt & Mollie on weekends - they in particular have made that Friday afternoon slot their own - but they'll be great on weekdays. Do wonder if 'Summer on Radio 1' is just a placeholder name until they decide on who will cover the interim. While it's obviously not the case it does feel like they've forgotten there's that weekend afternoon slot to fill given no permenant presenter has been announced for it yet.
    • Zoe Ball is back on the breakfast show on Monday.
    • Just listening to matt and mollie at work and heard them say it's their second to last show on weekends
    • And Arielle mentioned in her Instagram post that her final early breakfast show is the 27th of June - the Thursday before Glastonbury
    • When Matt covered breakfast on 22nd April, he said their new show was starting in 10 weeks, so that’d be the 1st July.
    • Would love for it to be like the Summer Friday Thing that me and @DC were remisincing about recently. Lots of events going on that could easily form part of it.  https://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/summer/cardiff/thursday/1.shtml
    • I'm guessing there is also a stack of weekend events like Glastonbury
    • I think more likely it'll just be a temp presenter for weekends 1-4 to give Matt & Mollie time off, plus time to plan and pilot the new show.
    • Yeah I don’t think they’ll be anything that drastic - maybe a week or 2 of cover on early breakfast etc, but maybe just having that weekend afternoon slot covered over the summer means they can put someone on from September who maybe isn’t available until then?
    • But they said the main changes would happen in July.
