Heath Ledger Dead

I was genuinely very shocked to hear about this, I only heard about it this morning when I switched my radio on and heard Moyles talking about it, at first I just thought he was joking. I agree, he was amazing in Brokeback Mountain, the film world truly has lost a great talent. RIP.

This is terribly sad news.

His performance in Brokeback Mountain was fantastic - so subtle and understated. I loved him in A Knight's Tale too - a really entertaining, if slightly historically inaccurate film.

His death is a great loss to the film world, as his acting just seemed to be getting better and better.

RIP.

I was really shocked when I found out in school today. It's so sad. He was too young to die!

I really liked him in A Knight's Tale and Ten Things I Hate About You. It's very sad that he is never ever going to do more films.

And his daughter will now grow up without her father. It's really unfair!

RIP.

My friends had a go at me for being upset by this. I thought he was really good in 10 Things I Hate About You and Brokeback Mountain and it is sad when someone this young dies so unexpectedly. My (male) friends think it's only women who care because they fancied him.

10 Things I Hate About you is one of my favourite films and it shows him as a teenager, it's sad he's died less than 10 years later.

People have started selling vile: why couldn't it be britney tshirts with heaths face on them :( Scum.

Haha, oops. What annoys me about Heath's death is those that only care about his death because they fancied him. If he'd have died and been a less good looking they wouldn't give a damn. All they seemed fussed about is the fact they won't be able to pretend they have a chance they'll marry him because he's dead. Pathetic girls.

I only saw him in Brokeback Mountain. I didn't fancy him. His death is truly tragic and trounces the lust many may have harboured for him I think.

It kind-of reminds me of the death of River Phoenix, who similarly died of an overdose, but of illegal drugs in 1993. He was already famous by then, but his talent (and looks) was seen as a huge loss to the movie industry.

Very sad indeed.

Speak for yourself! As good looking as Heath was, that's not the reason his death upset me. It's tragic whenever anyone that young dies, especially if their parents outlive them, not to mention Heath's talent and the loss to the film industry.

I just saw Candy last night. It was the first movie I'd ever seen with him in it. It was an indie film from Australia that came out in 2006 and won a bunch of awards at film festivals. His performance in that movie is gut-wrenching. He plays a heroin addict deeply in love with his hooker girlfriend, and desperately trying to hold his life together. There's one scene where he is in the shower, trying to quit heroin at this point, and is having a complete breakdown. It was so intense I had to skip through it. Thats what an amzing actor he was. He was brilliant. And Candy is one of the most beautiful films I have ever seen.

I was suprised there was no sprt of tribute mentioned to him in the opening or the credits or the new batman film?

Apparently there is right at the end of the credits, but nobody seems to stay at the pictures until right at the end. I've been to see TDK three times now cos I'm a saddo and I've never been brave enough to stay right to the end in case people stare at me!!

That whole Mary-Kate Olsen thing is just odd if you ask me. I mean if she has nothing to hide and she had nothing to do with it, why won't she talk to the police without immunity?? Hmm.

I wasn't sure whether Candy might be a bit depressing, but it does sound like a really good film. After seeing him in The Dark Knight I've decided to check some more of his films out (I don't do chick flicks and I don't really do modern films very much aside from superhero films), the only other film I've seen him in is A Knight's Tale which I thought was great but a bit too soppy for me (no, really, I have no soul!).

To be honest, I wasn't a very big fan of Heath Ledger while he was alive, thought he was just too pretty and must only be rated as an actor because of that, and he really wasn't my type - far too good looking. But I admit to being absolutely horrified and shocked when he died, more than I have been even for actual heroes of mine that have died. I think it's just completely tragic when anyone so young dies. For heaven's sake he was only three years older than me. That's just scary.

It's just a crying shame that it wasn't until he died that the majority of people, myself included, sat up and actually realised what a phenomenal actor he really is. Was. It's still weird having to talk about him in the past tense.

Give us the motivation, we can cause a sensation!
