BBC Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles is reportedly in talks to join US station Sirius Radio.

According to the News of the World, Moyles met with bosses at the satellite service in New York last month to discuss a multi-million pound deal. His BBC contract is up in July.

A source said: "Chris is preparing for life after Radio 1. He's massively in demand in America and isn't going to limp on if the BBC don't support him. Sirius is a huge radio company who pay their star presenters millions of dollars a year.

"They think he's a real talent and are desperate to sign him to launch him in the American market. Chris loves New York and, of course, nothing is forever so it's only sensible for him to start looking at what's next.

"He knows that going over to the US could end up meaning global success for him. For any big star over here breaking America is always the dream."

An insider added that the BBC "have made it quite clear they don't see him staying on at breakfast for another five years".

I don't know what to think about this, but I personally would like Chris to stay in the UK...

I take this with a pinch of salt really. Moyles is probably coming to end of his time in the Breakfast show, but there's any number of options for places he could go. In the states he'd have big competition like Howard Stern.

It's plausible. He has a great relationship with Sirius and does love New York, so its a feesible story. I could see Moyles wanting to do it. This doesn't mean its true though! I think it would be a huge risk for him but one that could pay off.

It may very well be Moyles' next option, it's whether he's doing it just yet I'm not sure of. If he's tweeted the NOTW guy about it, he may talk about it on-air at some point and maybe give some sort of clue.

It would be a great move for Moyles i think. I think his quite wit and sometimes dry sense of humour might be a bit too much for the yanks though!!

Wait... "Moyles is massively in demand in America"? Since when? 99% of the country doesn't know him. Though Sirius carries Radio One, it's never pulled large listening figures (last official count two years ago was around 150,000 for a subscribership of 11 million). He's never appeared on TV or radio here elsewhere, so this would be a real surprise if Sirius snatched him up, and even then I don't know where they'd even fit him in.

It doesn't look like Howard is going to renew his contract. Plus Sirius would put him on an xL channel (one which is uncensored) that could be a big change to the show, which would be much more interesting and entertaining :]

True, but could you take four hours of Moyles without any breaks? Take the first half hour of his show and extend it FOREVER. Even I wouldn't stick around for that...

Would agree with Kyle here, it's not like Moyles doesn't WANT to do a show without having to play songs etc, he tries hard enough and gets leeway when it comes to cutting out songs and stuff he doesn't want to play.

Just read that Howard Stern has signed for another 5 years... wonder if that'll have any knock-on effect on any potential movement to Sirius for Moyles.
