Strange that the day of the challenge has Matt and Mollie sitting for Greg. I wonder if she's supposed to be mobile co-hosting at the same time?

Oh that will be fun if they try to do Matt vs. Mollie while she's on the road.

It's been an excellent mechanism for promoting Matt and Mollie. And Mollie's really put a shift in. I love the physical challenges as they resonate with the audience but I do hope they can find something like the lolathon for creativity next year.

Had the lurgy this week so have been following it all on the radio. Hopefully I'll be well enough for Friday to see her finish in Hull.

It's been a great week of radio. Radio 1 at its best - promoting a great cause and all the DJs on air together and shows how much they all get along. This week has highlighted too just how great the likes of Greg, Matt and Katie are as broadcasters - they have been superb covering the challenge and in their genuine love and support for Mollie (who has been doing so well and is giving it her all).

Lovely too to see Matt & Mollie get their flowers so much in the past month - both thoroughly deserve it and their kindness and good spirit has really shone through these last few days even more than usual. Matt's link yesterday about how Mollie has been a support to him and him to her at around 4.45pm yesterday was just so wonderful and heartfelt and what Radio is all about.

Am I too cynical thinking some of the drama is more theatre than anything?

I always think there not doing the whole thing. Eg. They start and do maybe 5 miles, stop and a someone else takes over in disguise and basically do shifts. The photos and videos are when Mollie is on board.

Some of the timings don't add up like usually finishing at time supposed to finish at

I didn't say she wasn't doing it. I saw Mollie cycle in Burton.

I can see why people would be suspicious of it cos she's knackered and it's hard for professionals to get the times and distances and she has only had 4 weeks training.

My point wasn't that the challenge was fake - though obviously some of the timings are managed to fit a finish during Going Home even though it went wrong yesterday.

What I meant was some of the drama is clearly theatre.  I mean Matt and others have been genuine and touching about personal stories and I am not suggesting fake but there is certainly added theatre along the way to create better radio and fuel donations.

Oh yeah you've got to make good radio from it, I appreciate that point.

They've poorly timed it today she won't be in Leeds until 9pm at this rate. If it was that orchestrated and getting lifts they'd have sorted that better ?

The only thing I’d call time management is when to begin the day’s peddling.

Did she make it to Leeds

Not yet - she was on the One Show in the last hour when there were still 10 miles to go.

Still going I think - they had her on the One Show and mentioned she still had an hour to the finish line.

So she'll probably be finishing today during her usual Future Pop show.

Do wonder how tomorrow will work with the Chart as it would be quite the effort by Mollie to finish before it. Normally they'd aim to have these challenges done before the Chart

    • The Charlie Sloth crossovers were hilarious chaos! I have only encountered those from old podcasts, but always made me laugh out loud! Music Police is one I really hoped would make it onto the Breakfast Show too! Such a great feature with listener engagement. I wonder if they had too many celeb guests to manage something like that, but it was such a giggle
    • I don't know about you guys, but I have felt a sense of relief today for the first time this week. No new 'sensational' headlines.  It seems that what came out through the week was all there is to know.  The next chapter feels like it will be painfully silent. Scott is hopefully doing all he can to regroup and look after himself. He is not reacting defensively, which just shows his strength, in my opinion. I can't imagne what the last week or so has felt like for him and those close to him. But, hopefully the worst is over. From what I've seen (and I know you can't escape the algorithm these days), people are supportive of him. People are questioning why his career has been ended. People are understanding of the timeframe we are looking at. Myself and my own family included.  Tonight to me feels like time to take a deep breath. And have faith that our Scott is going to handle this in the best way he can. We'll just have to deal with not having him on our Radio and not hearing what's going on, which is a difficult place to be as a supporter.
    • Innuendo Bingo, 24 Years at the Tap End, Oh What's Occurring? and the Real or No Reals with Charlie Sloth were all great! On Radio 2, I liked his Music Police feature. Shame he didn't keep it for the Breakfast Show.
    • Ahh Tap End was one of my absolute faves.  And the Lolathons were great too.   I totally forgot to mention Superfan Steve!
    • Such a great thread, there is so much to choose from!   From the earlier years, Flirt Divert was must-listen radio.  Laura's Diary. One Night with Laura.  The pranks where they used to call two takeaway shops and make them both think they were ordering from each other. Later on, I loved Beccy Raps, especially when she did Gangnam Style for her final show. Trapped in the Closet had me in stitches. Of course Innuendo Bingo, which was how I rediscovered the show after a long gap of it falling off my radar when I started working full time. Bamboleo was a weekly highlight for me and Producer Will sent me my very own copy of the 'Margaret Covid' mix of Duck Sauce when I got a shout out one week.  Last going off on R1, Granny Tinder was phenomenal. Loved the Who Game! The Don't Look it Up Quiz had so many hysterical rounds and I loved it when they would all completely lose it laughing - again mainly with Producer Will. And in the R2 days, the show has been a big adjustment but it has come to such a lovely vibe. Elder Vs Millennial in particular is a feature that stands out for me.  There are so, so many more. I still rewatch the musical on YT.  And still will. What an epic catalogue of memories to look back on.
    • Not so much a moment, but one of my all-time favourite memories of the R1 show was the Barryoke Barry Island special in 2008. I was planning on uploading it in July, but under the circumstances, I've decided to upload it now as an Easter weekend treat:
    • Broke back Westwood lol forgot about that one lol
    • If this is what it may be mentioned above, a bitter ex who is trying to get back at him. And this is as far as it goes. I can imagine Scott back on the radio down the line, if he wants too of course. If he is to ever do anything again it will be a few years away though, I can't imagine the strain this last week must have been tbh.
    • Celebrity Calls, Brokeback Westwood, Camp Man, Laura's Diary, Innuendo Bingo, Flirt Divert. Way too many to mention.
    • According to Katie Hind..... As for the man himself, it's not known how much contact Mills' friends have had with him recently. I'm told he has spent 'a great deal of time with lawyers' as he decides what to do about his future – and not just any lawyers. He's hired the aggressive London-based legal firm Level, known for being ruthless when representing celebrity clients. There's even talk that he could sue the BBC for unfair dismissal. https://removepaywalls.com/https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-15706353/scott-mills-bbc-radio-showbiz-beeb-rylan-clark-investigation.html#google_vignette
    • Oh my days where do I start? So many classics I am so grateful I got to hear so many greats from Flirt Divert, One Night with Laura, 24 years at the tap end, to the easiest quiz on 2 which really helped wake my brain up in the mornings. But a proper lol for me was when him and Chris did world cup alternative comms was so funny
    • Barryoke wow what a throwback! some more not mentioned yet: The prank calls - pizza man! 24 years at the tap end The Sack of shame the Lolathon
    • Flirt Divert Scott Mills The Musical Radio 1 On Three Innuendo Bingo Whooooo Game My Name is Scott Livestock Lounge One Night with Laura
