Quite a good show as well

Doubt she'll make it on Radio1 though, unless there's a resurgance in 'hardcore' or Kutski gets a more mainstream show, she's good but not better that Kutski and there's only room for 1 hardcore DJ on radio1.

Im dissapointed Kutski hasn't had a chance to get more exposure over christmas actually, his enthusiasm is infectious and admirable, I think Zane fans would really take to him. I never really liked 'hardcore' before a Kutski trailer now I listen quite often. Hoping for a specialist takeover in May now! :P

I think its an odd schedule for xmas... kind of thrown together. Sad that they have gone for a lot of the pre-record stuff again, and its not really in with the "teeny" image that they have been promoting the last few months.

Weird that Fearne is the only DJ who is staying on air for the whole 2 weeks of christmas?!

Looking forward to Westwood on drive!

Will be good to hear Rob Da Bank on air a bit more, he is so under-used!

Also congrats to Dev who has breakfast for the week between - I think thats a big land for him!

There is no real sign of any of the names that people tune in for - moyles (no suprise) mills, edith, jo, vernon, reggie, even Greg isnt around much, and Im shocked that grimmy, and annie, have got a lot of the time off - I would have thought it be perfect switch opportunity! Also where are chappers and dave?!

Odd, very odd!

obviously nobody listens to radio over the christmas period. So why not just use repeats and let the less well known presenters have the practice.

its no surprise, R1 always do it, and I think it just shows what the station and presenters think about the listeners, to most of them it is just a job and they would rather be at home than in the studio. ok some people do have a proper christmas break, but hundreds of people dont..so I cant see why apart from Scott and Fearne all the other regular DJs all need a fortnight off at the same time.

Why isn't Scott on during Christmas and New Year. Radio 1 could have made him do a pre - recorded show at least. I'm not a big fan of Greg James .

Will Scott b back in January 2010 , Jono.

Donna D

Make him do a pre-record?

You mean, tie him to the studio at gun point and force him to record a show?

take control

--> Getting the season into full swing, Nick Grimshaw hosts the BBC Radio 1 Festive Festival on Monday 21 December, 7-11pm, live from the BBC's Maida Vale Studios.

Serving up a selection of musical treats from some of 2009's established and hotly tipped acts, the show cements Nick's growing reputation as a supporter of new music in his nightly evening show, from 10pm Monday to Thursday on Radio 1.

The artists confirmed for the festive celebrations are: Simian Mobile Disco, Mumford and Sons, Plan B, The XX, Enter Shikari and Marina and the Diamonds.

Each act is set to perform three live tracks from the studios between 7-10pm. For the last hour from 10pm, Radio 1 DJs Kissy Sell Out and Toddla T take over with special mixes to get listeners into the party spirit.

Nick says: "We're bringing a whole host of my favourite bands from 2009 – ones who have shaped the year in music and my show over the past few months. The XX have broken through the hype and made my favourite album of the year, so I'm thrilled to have them on the bill.

"Simian Mobile Disco returned this year with an album full of plinky plonky brilliance so we had to have them. Enter Shikari, probably the most loved band by my listeners, who will tear it up as will Plan B, who will be playing new stuff for the first time on the night.

"Mumford and Sons are really going to bring the festive vibes of the night and Marina and the Diamonds the glamour and a taster of a break through album of 2010. It's such an honour to be broadcasting from Maida Vale and I can't wait to bring this festive special to everyone."

Last year's celebration, hosted by Steve Lamacq and Huw Stephens was also live from Maida Vale Studios and included performances from amongst others Glasvegas, Chipmunk, Florence and the Machine and Friendly Fires, all performing for the In New Music We Trust Christmas Party.

    • On July 8th Greg will surpass Grimmy's tenure on Radio 1 breakfast (5 years, 319 days) as the second-longest breakfast show presenter. He has already passed Tony Blackburn and Sim Mayo. I'm not sure if he will make Moyles' record of 8 years, 253 days, but he certainly still seems fresh and full of ideas!
    • I guess we'll have to wait and see when the new schedule kicks in, although I could see Scott staying where he is.  Assuming that's the case and there are no other moves, there would be several available studios for Matt & Mollie - 82C or 82E of the 'old' studios, and 82M or 82N of the new ones.
    • The BBC commissioning brief mentions it is a 'mid morning show' for Radio 1 Dance https://www.bbc.co.uk/commissioning/radio/documents/comm_brief_r1_dance_morning_show.pdf
    • Nothing to apologise about, I was just intrigued on how DS and UM react
    • I would be pretty confident that if they keep avoiding using James Cusack on that slot over the next few weeks, then it will probably be him that gets the show permanently!
    • That’s two names who probably won’t be doing that slot permanently then.
    • Moyles spent most of the 52hr sgow calling him that lol
    • I stand guilty as charged as the DS poster.... It was I Okay, so yes Connor has good energy and does the show well, I take it back, however, my last experience of him he spent every other link saying "It's Connor Coates in for the ledge that is Charlie Hedges" and then he started saying "Clem Douglas" - again after critisising that I see she is styled as that sometimes The point I was trying to make was, yes we know it's Charlies show, we know she is a ledge, and we know she is not here today, no need to keep reminding us Regards R1 dance, I suspect Arielle is pointed at the drivetime slot to go against Mistajam unless we know it is breakfast that will be live ? Apologies to Connor and anyone offended by my comments, was just going on my past experience of Mr Coates, who seems to be a very competnt presenter
    • I know we have discussed this before, but can someone shed some light hoping @Lily Georgia can help Since the Wogan House closure, and 1-330 from Manchester, studio 82A (Mills) has been used by Scott's R2 show, in fact i note that him and Grandad Nelson are from there now days The question I have is with 1-330 coming from London again soon, who is getting a new studio? will Scott move to one of the newer ones down the corridor or will he remain in 82A and M&M get a new studio They cannot use 82D as that is used for drive, and currenlty 82A is in use by Scott from 2-4pm In the old days it used to be 82A for Greg, Scott, Annie and 82D Adele, RMC, Drive, Jack I note that Jack is in a brand new studio so maybe M&M will come from that one as well, maybe the same one as Vine uses?
    • Maia Beth is doing Friday Early Breakfast on 7th & 14th June.
    • Joel Mitchell is in for Nat on Sunday 9th June.
    • Ore Olukoga is on 13.00-16.00 on Friday 31st May and Friday 7th June.  Nikita Kanda is doing Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June.
    • Very pleased for producer Amy - it's no coincidence many of the best shows in recent years have had her working on them. You can tell her & Helena are a great production duo and that the whole Matt & Mollie team are a really close-knit unit in general. Some lovely speeches by both Matt & Mollie too to end the show on Sunday.
    • Echo what most have said here. Connor has great energy which is important for that sort of slot and the shame for him is that the dance line-up is so strong that there's no obvious 'in' for him to get a regular slot -Danny, Sarah, Pete Tong, Arielle, Charlie Hedges, Jerry and Charlie Tee are all great in their slots. A live show on Radio 1 Dance really feels the obvious way to get a proper foot in the door at Radio 1. Although to be fair to the DS critic I think it was just the one poster and can very much hear Connor in my head saying 'in for the legend that is Charlie Hedges'.
