Jo will go i think, dunno where maybe 6music ? she seems very upset about being moved & pushed out, & she hasn't mentioned the weekends much at all, Edith said today she is really looking forward to doing it, how true that is i dunno she could be just saying it though

i think Edith will stay if the movie stuff stays she will also she is available to cover for anyone on daytime, im not sure on the contracts but im positive that Edith signed a new contract just before she announced she was pregnant.

wonder what John Peel would have thought about being told that he is to old for R1.

as for if they were pushed, i doubt they had much choice, but i can see Edith would have said "yeah" in a excited way, but Jo would have just gone "oh right you want me to do weekend" - "good bye".

:)

He wouldn't have been told he was too old for Radio 1. I think there was an interview with Ben Cooper recently where he said that John Peel consistently had the youngest audience out of all the shows on the station.

Over the past couple of weeks every time Ive heard Jo she has sounded really excited at moving to weekends. she has ended the show on a high with the live lounge tour, and is talking happily about new weekend guests, To be honest it does seem a sensible move considering her family committments. Id reckon she will stay for a while.

Whereas Edith I think has almost ignored the whole thing and seems to imagine that the early weekend breakfast show is just as important as daytimes. Making me wonder if she is just putting a brave face on it...or if she really doesnt realise? I think she will stay but more because she doesnt have anywhere else to go.

I don't think jo sounds that happy about going to weekends, the only time i've heard her mention it is as a sarcastic comment like i've pushed the wrong button thats why i'm being moved,or as replys to people saying i'm going to miss you,the only guests so far mentioned are david tennent and newton faulkner.

As for family the only benefit is holidays, when she moves to weekends she'll see less of her kids.

They've both just had children, I imagine that's partly the reason why Sara hasn't taken the 10-1 shows too. Edith's shows would be more suited to weekend breaky anyway, especially with all the film guff. Jo's show will be good too, i'm thinking something similar to Dermot O'leary's Radio 2 show.

It's time for a change, It must have been a mutual agreement between all of them.

Also, Moyles only signed a one year contract because of the pay cut, he wants more money next year. Jammy b*stard :P

Unfortunately I think Cotton will stick around for a while, but I can see the bosses letting her get away with her (let's face it) predictable absences as they wouldn't want to look like they made a wrong decision.

In no way can I see Edith and particularly Jo being happy or consenting to being shoved away on weekends- it's less prestigious, I presume will be less money (?) and is kind of embarrassing- I know I wouldn't be happy if my boss told me I'd have to work part time- and at weekends. Jo's kids will be at school during the week, and Edith will have to get up at the crack of dawn on a weekend- no thanks!

There is a case for new mums asking to work fewer hours so they can spend more time with their kids...maybe this is the case with Jo and Edith?

I doubt if its an ideal scenario for either of them, they will just have to hope that their partners pull their weight and have a bit of quality daddy -baby time at weekends when their mums are busy at work!

Jo does have a fairly prestigious slot in the afternoon, Sara had a popular show when she did weekend afternoons. Edith drew the short straw. Working an early show at weekends, must be hard to go out anywhere on Friday or Saturday eves, But then I am definitely not a morning person!

What weekend breakfast shows are good to wake up to? I've worked every Saturday for a number of years and having to put up with Fearne or Reggie, Nihal (when he wasn't very good, unlike today, I like him now) and Nick Grimshaw I was actually enjoying Dev! Now I shall be tuning out. Can anyone reccomend anyone?

    • Is big weekend the only place to get long boi merch? It's sold out! I'd love to have got my hands on some.
    • Considering the price of some festival event for a small portions can be pricey but it isn’t too bad that could get it with chips and other roast dinner bits. I think when you are billed as a touring high profile DJ there’s always a risk of playing out familiar tracks from other artists in the mix. Especially on a line-up with Chase and Status and Rudimental who will be playing pretty much all tracks written, produced and released as their DJing names.
    • Matt & Mollie I believe (and on the radio occassional studio bits from Jack Saunders, Sam & Danni and Maia Beth).
    • Obvs - Scott 2-4 and Trevor Nelson are also in 82A
    • Who presented Party Anthems on stage?
    • Lots of adverts for Matt and Mollie around the place, alongside the rest of the weekday lineup, but no mention of Dean and/or Vicky. Although I notice those two are doing the photobooth today, as is Danny Beard…
    • Yesterday was excellent pretty much all day. You can tell a lot of work has gone into the festival and the set up was really good. The ground is fine for anyone worried, I wore old trainers and they’re still fine today.    Merchandise is available for some high prices. If you’re going for Longboi merch get it early as they sold out within the first couple of hours.    The photo booth is also good and we met Vick, Katie and Jamie for a few seconds and got a photo. If you’re doing this get there 15-20 minutes before the advertised time as they’re only 30 minute slots. It’s right next to the main stage so you can see everything going on there from the queue anyway. Most of the acts we saw were excellent. Becky Hill and Ella Henderson were brilliant live. Rudimental and Chase and Status were absolutely incredible. Nathan Dawe wasn’t great, played 3 of his own songs then dodgy remixes of Marvin Gaye, Dolly Parton etc. Went to Dimension halfway through which was must better. Saw 15-20 minutes of Eric Prydz which wasn’t really my thing but his staging was excellent.  The DJ sets in between everything were pretty good, especially Matt and Mollie and Charlie Hedges. Sam and Danni were a welcome change as they played indie anthems for a while although I think they may have just been the pre recorded anthems they usually play on weekends (still better than Nathan Dawe). Food was good, but pricey - £15 for my main meal of roast pork, stuffing, chips and Yorkshire pudding. I was surprised they were selling multipacks of Madri and bottles of wine, especially the latter as people were walking around swigging from glass bottles in the middle of the crowd then dumping them on the floor… the rubbish was a mess at the end of the night. Probably one of the best live music events I’ve ever been to, a real credit to the station.
    • While there were some technical issues (tracks temporarily cutting out, mics not working at first for radio listeners, 'studio team' sometimes jumping in at quite random intervals) Party Anthems on stage seemed to work well and I sort of wonder why they haven't done it before. I guess it depends on when gates open but if gates open around 1/2pm then no excuse not to do it- it's a DJ set which they have loads of across the weekend and acts as a warm-up so the crowd are hot for the first main act.
    • They mentioned on air that it's before Joel Corry's set.
    • When is the set for Greg and Tom? I’m having trouble getting on to Insta and Google is not helping.
    • Jess Iszatt is in for Jack on Monday 27th May.
    • The two larger studios either side of the Live Lounge are 82A (aka 82Mills) and 82D.  The 4 smaller ones nearby are 82B, C, E & F.  The brand new ones are nearby on the 8th floor and are 82K, L, M & N.  All of the London-based R2 and 6M shows are coming from the 8th floor, some in the new studios and some in the original ones.  Obviously there are a lot of shows that come from elsewhere in the country such as Birmingham, Salford and Cardiff, but any in London come from the 8th floor.   In terms of R1 at the moment:   82A - Greg James, Danny Howard, Jeremiah Asiamah 82B - Early Breakfast Mon-Fri, Dan P Carter, Sarah Story, Charlie Tee 82D - RMC, Going Home, Future Artists, Future Pop, Rave Up, 13.00-16.00 Fri-Sun 82E - Official Chart, Chillest Show 82F - Dance Anthems, Kenny Allstar, Indie Show 82N - New Music Show Salford - Dean & Vicky, Danny Beard, Nat O'Leary, Life Hacks Cardiff - Sam & Danni
    • Vick, Katie, Jamie, Charlie and Melvin will be on at 11am. Then Matt, Mollie, Charlie and Jamie at 1pm.
