  1. I think Greg has recording studio for his podcast at home, so he doesn’t have to go to Radio 1 to record things. Btw, it seems that Scott is doing double on Friday - he’s scheduled for the chart show
  2. I think they want to give more airtime to new talent. As for Monday, Sian does The Chillest Show on Sunday evenings and Monday show has a similar vibe to it.
  3. I'm not sure about their content as in political left-right balance and such, as I know too little about UK politics, but I think the whole station imaging is great. It's fast, it's important. Well, maybe a little bit too important, but it sounds really professional. I like their presentation style which is engaging, serious and relaxed at the same time and listeners are a big part of the output. I work in a public radio station in my country (similar to your Radio 4) and I think that UK talk radio is a gem. We are way too bureaucratic back here.
  4. I think it's time to move on. You can't have a DJ who's out of demographics and doing quite a lot of work on Radio 2 covering for Radio 1 breakfast. I don't say it won't happen, but I think he's not the first choice by now. There's nothing bad about this - as someone said, Scott's on Radio 1 for 20 years and sooner or later it's time for a change. I'm sure he'll get a gig on daytime or weekend Radio 2 easily. As i'm not from the UK and wasn't very much familiar with Terry Wogan till now, I did a lot of research on him recent days. He left Radio 2 breakfast being 70 and Ken Bruce is 69 now. I think we'll see him leaving anytime soon and Scott has a big chance to take over Kens' or Steve Wrights' (who's 67) show. It would be a promotion for Scott in a way as Radio 2 is a bigger station and it's getting more modern everyday.
  5. That's pretty much it. You can't have C list presenter who used to play a lot of music during their regular show covering A level show like breakfast. As well as that, the logistics matter. For example, there's no point in having Grimmy or Scott covering breakfast if Matt and Mollie are available. That was the case 10 years or so ago when Scott was covering Chris Moyles and someone else had Scotts show or Greg James (who at the time was on afternoons) covered Scott (drivetime), but now we see it less frequently. I think this has to do with current line up, which is quite strong at the moment. Just think about it, 10 years ago the weekend line up was good, but not up to the weekday level. Edith Bowman was former daytime presenter who was demoted, same applies for Sara Cox and Vernon Kay (but still they filled in for Chris Moyles sometimes), Huw Stephens was more specialist kind of a type presenter. Now there's Adele Roberts, Jordan North, Matt and Mollie, Arielle Free. I think the higher bosses make a call on who covers who in case of sick producer. For example, if Greg James is sick, I think Matt and Molle will get the first call, if he's unavailable, then it's Scotts turn, after him I think Jordan North. For Clara's show the obvious choice would be Adele Roberts and Katie Thistleton. If their unavailable, then it's Arielle Free. For Scott, it's Matt and Mollie, Jordan North as they're quite similar presenters in their style. For Grimmy, it's Jordan and maybe Adele or Arielle? There are exceptions if no one's avaliable. For example, Matt Edmondson covered breakfast during Christmas period. Don't get me wrong, he was really good, it's unusual to have him without Mollie on such high profile show. This means that no one else was available without tearing up the schedule completely.
  6. I think it's a win-win situation for all of them. By going back to afternoons, Matt and Mollie can keep 3 shows a week. Adele should be tired of doing earlies all those years and by going to weekend mornings she can live like a normal person once again and do more cover work on weekdays. This move lets to try new talent on early breakfast, which is less listened to than weekend breakfast. I think all those changes were made because of Greg James getting back to Friday. It was really strange that there were two breakfast shows for the same weekday audience. I think these changes bring more consistency to the whole schedule.
  7. 21st - 24th December 4-7 Arielle Free (or Adele Roberts) 7-10 Matt + Mollie 10.30-12.45 Adele Roberts (or Arielle Free) 13-15.30 Scott Mills (or Vick + Katie?) 15.30-17.45 Jordan North Christmas day 4-7 Arielle Free 7-10 Jordan North 10-16 Some kind of takeover 16-18 The Official Chart with Scott Mills Boxing day & 27th December, 28th - 30th December Student takeover? 31th December Probably half student takeover, half Scott Mills, Charlie Hedges, Arielle Free or Jordan North. 1st January Probably a normal Friday schedule with Scott Mills doing chart. In conclusion, not that different from last year. Btw, Dev has announced his last show is happening weekend before Christmas, so there will be no Dev during holiday period
  8. I love it! Btw I'm 23 years old, deffo not in R2 demographics.
  9. Newsbeat reported the news really poorly indeed... Radio 5live jumped into the coverage at around 14:50 so there was enough of information for additional 15:00 bulletin. Reporting that terror attack happened almost an hour late is unexceptional for the BBC. The news bulletins were clear and informative but there were too few of them. Even Capital did half-hour news bulletins.
  10. I have to agree with you guys. I don't mind amount of music during Scott's and Greg's shows but in the first part of the day it's just unbearable. Clara's show has no content at all and the worst thing it just does not sound good unlike Capital or other commercial rivals. And the breakfast show sounds tired. In fact, I think that drivetime show sounds better than the breakfast one which is a shame and a main issue Radio 1 keep losing listeners IMO. On the other hand, I love weekend output. Dev's great so is Matt, Alice and Danny.
  11. The Official Chart was live last year on Christmas Day. Anyway, maybe not Scott, but Danny should be live.
  12. I think Scott, Greg, Danny will be live.
  13. Christmas Day From 7 to 10 Greg James (live). Then it will be pre-recorded shows of the Breakfast Show, Hackney Weekend highlights. Maybe a few entertainment shows like Sara and Vernon last Christmas or Phil and Dan (you know, that Youtube fellas). 7:00-10:00 Greg James 10:00-13:00 Nick Grimshaw breakfast show highlights 13:00-16:00 Hackney Weekend highlights 16:00-19:00 Phil and Dan Boxing Day 7:00-10:00 Dev, Tom Deacon or something 10:00-13:00 Sara and Vernon 13:00-16:00 Hackney Weekend highlights 16:00-19:00 Greg James the best of guests maybe 27 December - 31 December 07:00-10:00 Dev 10:00-13:00 Gemma Cairney (?) 13:00-16:00 Huw Stephens
