Chris Moyles has rubbished claims that he is to lose his job as the host of Radio 1's flagship breakfast show.

Reports quoting insiders at BBC's Broadcasting House suggested controversial DJ Moyles would be moved on from his job by radio bosses sometime in September.

But Moyles's agent, Vivienne Clore, maintained yesterday that the reports were completely unfounded. "We both think it's a load of rubbish," she said. "I have spoken to his bosses today and they are saying it's not true."

This story did scare me this morning. But i believe it is more rubbish from The Sun.

I have been listening to Moyles from the beginning he is my hero. He has inspired me to get into Radio and if he went then i would feel hurt unless it was on his terms.

I say at least another 3 years of Moyles. Coxy and Whiley may go though?

Hey this apparent shake-up and new stars - IM ALWAYS HERE RADIO 1. WOOPS EGO ALERT ;)

What people seem to be forgetting is that management will be discussing changes to the schedule 18 months in advance. I'm sure Moyles can't be long for this world- in September he will be the longest serving Breakfast show host EVER. But I severley doubt he will keep going for another extra 2 / 3 years. Bosses are undoubtley discussing contingency plans once the inevitable happens. I expect we will have another full year of Moyles though!

Oops look like they might have got Scott's quote from Twitter ;)

This really tickled me. Just shows how thorough the tabloid newspaper 'researchers' are. Did they not even think to read Scott's bio on Twitter? If this doesn't prove that they write total garbage, I don't know what will. No offence intended to the fake Scott Mills incidentally.:D

I'm also looking forward to Moyles' response on Monday.

Don't think we're forgetting it at all. We are talking about the present. This year. I can fully accept Chris won't go on for ever and would expect the second half of 2010 to probably see changes to breakfast. But for The Sun to report Chris will be gone by September seems very premature.

The Mirror seem to be basing their story upon the fact that his contract is up for renewal in July according to their "sources".

Hey, do you think we could play a version of 'call the newspapers' by mentioning a random celeb/DJ on the Scott_Mills twitter and see who prints that as a successor or the bookies take bets?

Haha. "Heard Paul Gambaccini is taking over from Moyles. Bloody annoyed."

I always found Gordon Smart fairly respectable. I notice his opinions toward Chris have changed since he supported Scott in recent months.

Yes but he's a journalist who doesn't like Chris, and Chris has slated his column recently as Aled says.

It will split Scott's team too. From what I have heard The One That Doesn't Speak does not want to go back to mornings. He had enough of them with Zoe Ball and Sara Cox. It could mean Laura would return to the show but that would push Beccy out. It's a bad move all round.

Why would Beccy go? She is assistant producer, if T1TDS went Laura could replace him as main producer.

i also believe what Aled has said over that bloke from the paper, however Aled has to be careful what he lets on, & in regards to Scott doing the show it's only for temporary cover.

Aled is a professional and I'm sure knows exactly what he can write on forums or not as the case may be. I'm sure advice from you is something he can do without.

I would like Scott to pre-recording a 2 min link and for Moyles to play it out at 6.30 on monday and make a big big big joke out of it, etc...:)
Maybe Chappers could. 'It's half six and this is The Scott Mills Show. Chappers here, Scott is just having a glass of wine, first here's some gay disco...'

Maybe throw in a 'chris is off, you've probably seen the headlines over the week, so it's the scott mills show from now on'.

This could be very funny. Make Greg make no mention of Moyles all morning, Dom at the end of the news just say "It's 6.30, time for the Radio 1 Breakfast Show". Have a generic Radio 1 jingle and a record followed by Chappers saying "Good morning and welcome to the Scott Mills breakfast show. For reasons we can't go in to Chris isn't here this morning and isn't likely to be for the considerable future. Scott will be taking over the show until furthur notice but is late this morning..." Before Moyles and the team interupt and reveal it was a joke. This could be a great way to rubbish the story. :D

The Mirror seem to be basing their story upon the fact that his contract is up for renewal in July according to their "sources".

I could have told them that, Moyles mentioned a couple of times his contract runs until July.

My general thoughts on the stroy. Rubbish, well at the moment it is anyway. I believe the plan is for Moyles to be replaced by someone younger, Radio 1 are far too obsessed with DJ age, so much so they'd rather have an average young Reggie Yates or Nick Grimshaw then a much better, slightly older JK and Joel for example. I'd put money on the fact that "age range" and "target audience" will be the reason given for Chris's exit. I believe that exit will be within the next 2 years or so, but not yet.

You also have to realise the story was in The Sun, who Moyles has slagged off a lot recently, and written by Smart, who has had his column ripped to peices by Moyles on multiple occasions in the past. I also don't doubt there will be a major re-shuffle in the summer, I however don't think it will involve Moyles yet...

As for a replacement, it won't be Vernon, he has too many ITV TV Productions to make. The only replacement host I would listen to would be Scott or Greg, if it were to be Grimmy or Reggie you wouldn't catch me anywhere near 97-99FM on a weekday morning.

why would laura being back be a bad thing? it would be good to have beccy and laura there.

on the grid.

I would think there would be bitch fights during the show. For some reason I like the mix of male and female companions.

i thought Laura left to produce on her own, coming back to Scott Mills show with Beccy would be a backwards step i would have thought.

Why? He's talking about if TOTDS went she would come back as a producer.

"At home watching the end of the football ... very much looking forward to the Radio 1 show tomorrow morning .. I have LOTS to say . . ." 6 minutes ago.

I'll be listening and to be honest I cannot wait!

I'm forseeing the biggest angry rant to date, so big and cruel it'll leave the Suns' bosses quaking in their boots :D

Radio 1 would make a cataclysmic mistake IF Moyles was to leave at the present moment. Whilst not his 'Biggest Fan', Chris has certainly grown on me after the red nose climb and quiz night.

If Radio 1 decided it was time for a change, they seriously need to think about Ratings. No-one at Radio 1 AT THIS PRESENT MOMENT (Apart from Scott Mills, who I believe will have drivetime for a long time to come), is ready to take-over Breakfast. The people who've done it in recent years have failed at it. I dread Greg James to take over just now, but in a few years, I think the Breakfast Crown should be his.

    • I don't feel there's so much overlap between M&M and Scott's shows. M&M is of a similar calibre to Scott & Chris on R1, with genuine laugh out loud moments and usually a show packed full of real interesting content. Scott's R2 show is IMO a shadow of the stuff he did on R1 (not his fault, he's doing exactly what station management want), with music and content to appeal to a much older audience.
    • To be fair, Scott & Chris would've still been fine on Radio 1. It was mentioned at the time that Scott's move was very much on Radio 2's part rather than Radio 1 wanting to move them on. That's the one problem that Radio 2 has, trying to appeal to such a wide demographic.. it's the perfect listen for many, but equally a turn off for many others. I think they have the balance fairly right.
    • I agree Scott has always been a good standalone presenter, but always better when with someone. When chappers left the radio one show it felt a different show and Chris joining was what it needed and brought new life. for the format of the radio 2 show Scott’s show fits well with the station but again, there’s the huge gap between radio1 and 2 As been said already old radio2 listeners feel it now feels too young with latest changes, yet old radio1 listeners still feel radio 2 feels too old. The inbetween stage demographic of too old for radio 1 but too young for radio 2 is still not catered for radio 2 was left to grow old with its audience for too long and to change things up now feels to try and change a brand image the right thing to do is leave it as it is and cater for that 1.5 demographic which I’m sure the new proposed 00s and 10s station will do if approved. Problem is it’s so overdue that by the time it gets off the ground these listeners are already likely to be lost and the changing image of radio2 likely to lose what it stands for as a brand with the “it’s too young now “  moving to boom and the “ it still sounds old “ crowd not able to move with their favourite presenters like Scott so finding themself on capital a radio 1.5 would have been perfect for Scott and Chris, seems unlikely but this is why I think who branding of bbc radio needs a rethink if these new stations get off ground
    • Bank Holiday Monday Schedule 6am-10am: Arielle Free in for Greg 10am-2pm: Dean & Vicky (No Rickie, Melvin & Charlie) 2pm-6pm: Vick & Jamie (No Katie) 6pm onwards: As normal.
    • Dare I say they've sounded great this past week?  Very much gelling.  Maybe less pressure?  Seem to be having a genuinely good time and not forcing things.
    • I'm in the minority in my workplace, most of them love country music.  Me, the American, does not care for it.  That said, I haven't haaaaaated some of the country adjacent stuff that's been on the R1 playlist.
    • The Eurovision semi finals are on from 8 to 10pm on Tuesday 7th and Thursday 9th May with Richie Anderson. That means Sara Cox in on till 8 on those days.  Saturday 11th May is Eurovision 'Super Saturday... 1-3pm Your Ultimate Abba song with Gary Davies  3-6pm Michelle Visage's Eurovision All Stars 6-8pm Eurovision Request Party with Owain Wynn Evans 8pm Eurovision Grand Final with Scott Mills and Rylan Clark
    • It is funny because everyone thought Matt was on the way out, now he's been described as the heir to Mills.
    • Some similar names to Big Weekend.  Sabrina Carpenter, David Guetta, Perrie, Bradley Simpson, Jax Jones, Caity Baser, Benson Boone, Rudimental. David Guetta is a good name.
    • Still Scott for me. I'm not too much into the 70s and 80s radio 2 play but do love the injection of 90s and 00s. Then Radio 2 push for all this country stuff and it not a UK thing, and I frankly don't like it. Scott's show as in features, hit and miss. I like the music police bit, but it feels like someone needs to join him. It's a shame Chappers is so busy with sports, as it feels like it could do with someone like him jumping on to help. Or a new partner. Radio 1, take or leave. Matt and Mollie are OK from what I've heard and share a good connection, but it's the playlist that throws me off. They could bring back Chris Moyles to do that show, but as soon as something like Headie One comes on with that casino keyboard produced crap. It would still be switched off from me.
    • Reading through this thread, I don't feel quite so alone now, in thinking that Scott Mills on R2 is not a good 'fit' (even less so than on R5).  I can't quite explain why this is so - I just know it to be so.
    • Arielle has been on holiday for the last 2 weeks getting married / honeymoon.  It'll be live from this week onwards.
    • CassKidd is in for Sian on Sunday 5th May.
    • The brought to tiers feature was also very good from them. I did wonder which DJ's were going to get picked out of the hat, that could have gone one way or the other and the caller said they were very opinionated lol. Correct decision putting katie in god tier!
    • The extended Dua Lipa track from M&M was very funny. I'm hoping Matt and Mollie and Scott have a good relationship a bit like Greg and Zoe collaborate on-air sometimes.
