I'll buy you a drink* if you're short on cash ;)

*Not exceeding the price of £1

You'd be lucky to find much to drink in London for under a quid.

I agree with London, if it was during a holiday it would be easier than in termtime, but I can get to London in term time also if it's a weekend, which I'd imagine it would be.

Nottingham is reasonably big and is in the middleish and Serin and me and Paula are in/around and it's near Derby. However, I might well meet people I know from uni at the same time who might wonder why I was with such a random bunch of people :P and there's not much to do here if you're not old enough to drink. So I think London is the best option.

Any one of the above is fine by me. Obviously Nottingham would be the best but I imagine that London would be the most convenient option for everyone. Are we considering a specific date or is it too early to discuss that ;)

Hmmmm, it would cost a small fortune for me to get from either Wrexham or Birmingham to London on the train, that and it would take a good 3/4 hours to get there. So it's not something I'd realistically be able to do until I have both the time and money to do so... i.e. after I've graduated, haha. Somewhere in the middle of the country would be better for me but then that would be an inconvenience for others. Maybe we could have several smaller meets in different places, depending on where people can travel to...?

This is an idea that's been thrown around for a while but nothing's ever actually come of it, it is quite difficult getting us all together in one place when we're from all over the UK (or all over the world in some cases). And I'm abroad for the next year anyway... so I'm out for the time being. Ask me when I'm back in the UK, haha.

So save the last dance

I'ma have to say no to London :( As much as I love the city, poor student here ;)

I second this except the student bit. It might be cheap to get to London if you book in advance but it'll cost me a bley fortune to go anywhere/do anything.

We can have our own Northern meet which would be far superior ;)

Can just imagine how freaked out mr mills would be if there was loads of people wearing t-shirts with his face on outside Radio 1.

freaked out? He would love it :D

If that's the plan... er... I might not want to go to those geeky lengths - might watch from the sidelines and take the official photos :P

I thought Grace was making masks.

Nah. We just all have to apply fake tan for at least a week in advance to reach that 'total tangerine' effect!

I'd/we'd be very happy to attend both northern and southern (with plenty of warning) UM meetings. Don't want to divide the forum.

it would have to be in January ~ then, 6 weeks is nearly christmas and everywhere will be busy.

yes and preferably after the exam period so I'd say towards the end of January or beginning of February.

Or are we going to keep suggesting places until one is suggested that suits a lot of people? Remember that there are people from all over the country here Rob so its not as simple as just picking a time and place.

Everyone seems to like London over anywhere else. I didn't mean to come across as pushy Heather, I was just worried that we wouldn't come up with a place and this thread would just disappear and the meet wouldn't happen :(

    • The BBC commissioning brief mentions it is a 'mid morning show' for Radio 1 Dance https://www.bbc.co.uk/commissioning/radio/documents/comm_brief_r1_dance_morning_show.pdf
    • Nothing to apologise about, I was just intrigued on how DS and UM react
    • I would be pretty confident that if they keep avoiding using James Cusack on that slot over the next few weeks, then it will probably be him that gets the show permanently!
    • That’s two names who probably won’t be doing that slot permanently then.
    • Moyles spent most of the 52hr sgow calling him that lol
    • I stand guilty as charged as the DS poster.... It was I Okay, so yes Connor has good energy and does the show well, I take it back, however, my last experience of him he spent every other link saying "It's Connor Coates in for the ledge that is Charlie Hedges" and then he started saying "Clem Douglas" - again after critisising that I see she is styled as that sometimes The point I was trying to make was, yes we know it's Charlies show, we know she is a ledge, and we know she is not here today, no need to keep reminding us Regards R1 dance, I suspect Arielle is pointed at the drivetime slot to go against Mistajam unless we know it is breakfast that will be live ? Apologies to Connor and anyone offended by my comments, was just going on my past experience of Mr Coates, who seems to be a very competnt presenter
    • I know we have discussed this before, but can someone shed some light hoping @Lily Georgia can help Since the Wogan House closure, and 1-330 from Manchester, studio 82A (Mills) has been used by Scott's R2 show, in fact i note that him and Grandad Nelson are from there now days The question I have is with 1-330 coming from London again soon, who is getting a new studio? will Scott move to one of the newer ones down the corridor or will he remain in 82A and M&M get a new studio They cannot use 82D as that is used for drive, and currenlty 82A is in use by Scott from 2-4pm In the old days it used to be 82A for Greg, Scott, Annie and 82D Adele, RMC, Drive, Jack I note that Jack is in a brand new studio so maybe M&M will come from that one as well, maybe the same one as Vine uses?
    • Maia Beth is doing Friday Early Breakfast on 7th & 14th June.
    • Joel Mitchell is in for Nat on Sunday 9th June.
    • Ore Olukoga is on 13.00-16.00 on Friday 31st May and Friday 7th June.  Nikita Kanda is doing Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June.
    • Very pleased for producer Amy - it's no coincidence many of the best shows in recent years have had her working on them. You can tell her & Helena are a great production duo and that the whole Matt & Mollie team are a really close-knit unit in general. Some lovely speeches by both Matt & Mollie too to end the show on Sunday.
    • Echo what most have said here. Connor has great energy which is important for that sort of slot and the shame for him is that the dance line-up is so strong that there's no obvious 'in' for him to get a regular slot -Danny, Sarah, Pete Tong, Arielle, Charlie Hedges, Jerry and Charlie Tee are all great in their slots. A live show on Radio 1 Dance really feels the obvious way to get a proper foot in the door at Radio 1. Although to be fair to the DS critic I think it was just the one poster and can very much hear Connor in my head saying 'in for the legend that is Charlie Hedges'.
    • James Cusack is in for Jack on Friday 14th June, doing the chart while Jack is at Download.
    • I remember hearing Amy first on Scotts show and she was great on that, the daft quiz questions always made me smile. It's really nice to see the hard work has paid off for them all.
