Scott had a listener who had lost his phone, and had to get in touch with dad, so he requested to reverse the charge. His dad declined.

Was it harsh? Who would you accept a reversed charge call from and who wouldn't you accept one from?

I very much doubt my parents would accept one from me... They'd have no idea what one was for a start.

that 0800-reverse charge £3.49 for a 30 second conversation, and 50p per minute after that, so £5 for a 2 minutes conversation!! So no way would I accept one of those again (darn little brother!)

There was a girl on earlier who said her boyfriend from Australia was travelling and called her. The operator charged her an extra £1 for every minute she was on the phone to him and she didn't realise until she got the bill. D'oh.

In my own experience Reverse Charge calls are only used in cases of extreme emergency. So - yes, I'd always accept one.

My parents would accept one from me, because they know I wouldn't do it without good reason. On the same logic, I would probably accept one from most of my friends/family, because I would assume there was a good reason why they were doing it and worry they could be in some kind of trouble. But maybe thats because I'm too trusting!

Seeing as they're mostly emergencies I'd accept, but I'd give them a minute to explain their emergency, or hang up if they're being stupid.

But I'd just call them back to avoid the ridiculous charges. If I knew the number they were calling from.

I most definitely wouldn't accept one from my mum, knowing her she'd do it for a nonsense reason and think it's funny!

If i was in an emergency and needed to call her using reverse, she'd just put the phone down thinking i'm a telemarketer.

Surely the need for a Reverse Charge call from a payphone went out with the ark, and the post office running the phone company, and Buzby and all...?
