What sucks in your life?

dreams can be awful, i've dreamt sometimes that i've actually gotten with the girl i fancy and then i wake up. go figure.

it's a good idea to do something that takes your mind off it for half an hour then try to go back to sleep. i usually play pro evo for a bit then try to sleep again if my dreams are crap and wake me up in the night.

on the grid.

haha I know, I really hate that :P

Fed up with university now. Never go to your local university, you're treated a bit of an outcast because you don't get to hang out in the halls.

Uh after our seminar this guy off of my course was telling me how amazing it is that he has found such an amazing group of people in his hall and how it's all amazing and they are amazing friends and he thought it would take him longer to find amazing friends and it's amazing and blah blah to which I was like '... Thanks. Rub it in.' He just looked at me and went 'What? oh... you don't live in halls do you...' .........no comment.

What sucks is that I've put hours and hours of work into my constitutional law tutorial tomorrow and I absolutely HATE it and I probably know more about the British constitution than 80% of British people despite not being British and I still don't really remember enough and it's 6 pm and they shut the library at 8 and ahhhh why am I on UM instead of doing the work?

The 'amazing friends' people make in Halls rarely last, in my experience, and in the experience of the 6 people I was talking to yesterday about just this subject. I have only 1 friend now who I was in Halls with in first year. Most of the rest I met on my course. I was talking to the 6 other students yesterday about how in first year people are so desperate to make friends that everything is sped up and sometimes people make unsuitable friends. I have friends who live locally or lived in far-flung student accommodation in first year and I still managed to meet them.

The up side for both of you is that you don't have to put up with the mess and noise of Halls, like fire alarms and fire extinguishers.

What sucks in my life is mostly self-inflicted bruises from last night. I got trodden on by a girl in stilettos though and my foot is really sore. I hate that, they're like daggers on people's feet with their whole weight behind them.

I wasn't going to post on here but I guess I have to say something somewhere. Except I have nothing to say apart from the fact that I haven't been so upset in a while. And I've been getting upset a lot recently so that's something.

1. 4 hours' sleep

2. Spent the whole morning feeling sick (self-inflicted, with alcohol). Haven't eaten for 18 hours.

3. It turns out at least a few people are aware of something I thought I was being subtle about. Turns out my best friend and his best friend (both guys) are both well aware.

4. I feel like an idiot

5. He definitely knows now

6. He's coming round later and I have to face him

7. I always seem to screw up my friendships

8. I'm going out later and I don't feel that up to it but I've been wanting to see The View for ages, I just wish I had more energy and didn't feel rough.

9. Parents coming tomorrow. I have to entertain them for a whole day.

10. My room is a mess and really needs tidying

11. Dissertation

12. Coursework

But, on a positive note, it's sunny outside.

Ah, so he doesnt bat for the other team then... Or is this a different person?!

I don't think I'm currently lusting after anyone who's gay - or at least I hope not!

No, this is someone at work. He asked me out on a bit of a lunch-date today which was lovely and he was telling me about how he and his girlfriend had been arguing. Then she met him from work, bah.

I love work so much now he's there.

    • I struggle to believe the entire DM article about Clara. This thing about no holidays and working bank holidays - certainly she wasn't doing that on her R1 show so must have been a broader comment about her overall workload. Also I'm not one of these people who thinks a 2 hour radio show is just 2 hours work per day, but really compared with the majority of people working full time 5 days a week it doesn't seem too bad, and most of us don't get a chance to stop work because we want to. Fair enough if she has mental health issues, completely understand why that mean the need to change / stop work. But as-written that article doesn't make me sympathetic!
    • Sting is the other headliner. I'd say that's about right for Radio 2, mostly 80's, 90's and 00's.
    • It depends on the presenter, the show and what they’re known for. If it’s a specialist DJ who got a show because of their reputation in the club scene and they’re not doing the clubs or a lot less because of family or other reasons, it may make sense to get someone in who’s current and fresh
    • I get all of that. But arguably when you have family commitments it seems that you have to step away. Should it be like that? Even Greg has had time off for mental health reasons previously, he's been open about it.
    • Adele was more so she could spend time with her mum before she passed away. With the amount of upcoming presenters it did make sense why she didn’t come back but was pretty unforgivable she didn’t get a good bye show or even pop on with Greg.  Annie possibly for family reasons and has mellowed Grimmy had done his time on Radio 1 and no where else for him to go really Jordan I’d have thought not much has changed with his workload. Capital does more pre recording and split links work
    • Some talk in the Daily Mail about why she left.  https://www.dailymail.co.uk/home/you/article-13467157/CLARA-AMFO-radio-dj-set-record-straight-left-BBC-glad.html Is this why we are seeing DJs just vanishing from the station? Adele, Annie Mac, Grimmy, Clara, even Jordan?
    • It's not just us geeks in the chat box, because over on the Greg James radio 1 breakfast show fb page I see there's plenty of listeners who rate James after this weekend. Comments saying the same
    • Pet Shop Boys, Snow Patrol, Sugababes, Pixie Lott, Travis, Shaznay Lewis, Craig David and Kim Wilde. Feels it has a slightly younger shift this year.
    • Love the creativity behind this. I just wonder how much demand there will be compared to just using Spotify? https://www.capitalfm.com/news/music/taylor-swift-radio-station/
    • I mean not everybody can just go to Spain, but also Scott and Sam requested phones off, so most people don't have their own pictures.
    • Would have assumed there to be more presenters as guests given the career and friends Scott has. Not even sure Sara Cox was there unless noone has really posted
    • It looks a really beautiful place, so pleased for them both! Bit disappointed that there's no chocolate bar press pic 😉, but Scott was bound to keep it classy, and it looks like a really lovely day was had by all.
    • It did look so incredible with the rainbow colours in the background on the photo scott posted. Congratulations to them both
    • According to the Metro: The couple, who’ve been engaged for three years, made it official on Saturday, June 1 in Xalet Del Nin – a stunning Mediterranean villa which faced the Balearic sea on the coast near Barcelona. Flying in for the celebrations were guests Rylan Clark, Calvin Harris, Vick Hope, Zoe Ball and Chris Stark, with the latter taking on a special role as Master of Ceremonies. They had plenty planned for those who made the journey, including a rendition of How Long Will I Love You by Pixie Lott during the ceremony. As the sun set, Eurovision legend Sam Ryder performed a set and DJ Joel Corry provided the tunes as they partied until the early hours.
    • Great pics, looks like they had a brilliant day. Congrats Scott & Sam!
