I've never listened to capital. But if the adverts go on as long as they do on absolute, then you'll all be pissed off by 7am.

on the grid.

I can't listen at the moment, is it the same jingles as Roman's show but with Jordan's name? Or completely new sound?  Has he got an into like Greg?

The intro is very similar to Greg's, I don't know about the other questions because I never listened to Roman.

It's more engaging than I imagined Capital breakfast to be. Like others said, I haven't heard Roman much to compare it. It sounds like Sian and Chris have more leadership on air.

Even with Roman, Sian and Chris took ownership of a lot of the features with the “senior host” very much anchoring.

Shows how little I listened! There's a lot of music, as per usual, but evidently that's Capital style. It's certainly an easy listen.

Jordan confusing Skepsis and sepsis 🤣

Not sure how many of those we'll get - he seems to have a much more professional stance here.

One thing is clear there's a lot of choice for Radio 1 listeners of a certain age if they did want something different. I could happily listen to Moyles or Jordan, Global's offering has certainly improved.

He had been a little too slick up to then.

So far it’s all safe and commercial but a decent listen.

Do you mean they have a long into like Greg or that actual jingles sounds very much like Greg jingles?

Is there a way to get the "HD" 192kbps stream of Capital on your computer? I'm finding the 48kbps stream hard to listen to. It feels like I'm listing on AM!

Doesn't allow you to rewind to the beginning of the show, but you can listen live

Listening to the whole show it was actually a great fresh listen.  It was very very busy with lots of first show stunts but still little nods to the Jordan we loved on Radio 1.

Also, immediately he feels at ease with Chris and Asian.

He definitely feels more slick and professional though.

It’s a different Jordan North to Vick and Jordan and Chris has matured since Radio 1 hasn’t he?!

It’s definitely all much slicker and more corporate but hints of the old them which might emerge when show is less busy than today.

Personally I'm not a fan of the "Capital Breakfast" sung jingles - sounds very old school, a bit like the "capital breakfast show" sung jingles when the Capital Network first started in ~2011. (Overall I think the Capital production sounds a lot worse with the new voiceovers than it did with Howard Ritchie)

Also, strangely no mention at all of "The UK's number 1 hit music station" on any of the TOHs or out of break jingles. Could Capital be getting ready for a new slogan, trying to fit in more with the older audience they seem to be chasing recently?

It’s more like the pre-2023 long intro of R1 Breakfast - I also prefer that version over the short version they’re currently using.

I hope so, I listened to the whole show. It just seemed like a different Jordan but as you say it was a busy show.

They just wanted a very big song and dance - and it seems they certainly had it with Jordan doing Greatest Showman. Hard to argue with him for taking the job given the resource they've put into the launch!

But agree, will be interested to see how it develops over the coming weeks.

I wasn't able to listen this morning, I'll have to listen back as I'm interested to see what the chemistry was like between Jordan, Chris and Sian. And whether Jordan naturally slid into main presenter mode at a new station.

I just saw the clip of the marching band on Insta, and they really have gone all out for it. It was like a much bigger version of Greg's red arrows when he started his breakfast show.

The town crier was very much a Chris Stark classic I thought, and gave me flashbacks of all those sorts of things he did on Radio 1.

I am a huge fan of Greg, but given how much I miss the pairing of Scott and Chris, if Jordan and Chris turn out to be as good a duo I could be swayed. I wish there was a podcast!

I really don't know which to listen to in the morning, Jordan & Chris or Greg?

    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
    • - Jamie Laing will take a break from Going Home from 28th July. Sam and Danni will cover. - Greg James will host his show until 11am from 21st July (Monday to Thursday only). - Mylo and Rosie, who previously hosted Hits Radio Breakfast in West Yorkshire, will host Friday EB in July. - Charley Marlowe of TikTok fame will host Friday EB in August. - Tskenya Frazer will host Life Hacks with Lauren Layfield in July, whilst Yinka Bikinni will host with Lauren in August. - Jamie Laing and Katie Thistleton will return to Going Home in September.
    • @eddemundo Thank you 👏🏼 👏🏼 That took some listening on Sounds to get that
