Good luck everyone for all your exams :)

For those of you at school still, anyone in 6th year? Do you do a "muck up day" on your last day still? Our school did all kinds of silly things!!!

Im in 5th year, but its the 6th years last day on friday at our school. I know for certain theres a barbeque planned for the afternoon, i think we're going down too, but god knows what theyll be doing during the day. Last year, if i remember right, they lay all lay on the grass and wrote "F*ck school" with their bodies, then took a picture of it and plastered it all over the school. Then they went to the most hated teacher in the schools room, and wrapped it all up in christmas paper. They also sneaked into the heads office and turned all his furniture upside down. And last of all, came back to the school specifically a minute before the bell for hometime was to go, and set it off so we had to all stay behind for at least an hour. Grrr.

We have the opposite, people are made to sit at fire alarms all week to make sure none get set off, fun is extremely discouraged. Last year they let off a load of balloons into the sky, but that was school organised.

Our school just lay back and take it. They discourage any major disruption, but tend to see the funny side of things. It generally goes down quite well, and its only for one day really.

Haha, that's genius (well, except for the bell setting-off thing)... nobody ever did anything like that at our school.

My school was pretty tight too but for some reason they still got away wit it on the last day of 6th year.

The year above us put 2 teachers cars in the paper for sale very, very cheaply (with their home telephone numbers) and put all of the canteen tables and chairs on top of the classrooms we called "The Huts". They also put water and gold fish in the vending machines!!! nice!!! & sent a pigs head to one of the teachers! It got in the paper and everything!!

Our year camped out on the front lawn @ school and did a miniature golf course on the roof on the classrooms we called "The Huts". I got thinking about it earlier on looking for famous people who went to my school for the other thread then found this: http://web.ukonline.co.uk/tim.kerby/madras/ (Go to Madrastonbury) Such saddo's! I didn't camp :( So wish I had now!

I handed in my last ever piece of statistics coursework yesterday, which was a wonderful feeling.

Last night we played a version of quick cricket then ate pizza, then everyone left about 1:30am, I went to bed about 2am, then the fire alarm went off at 2:20am. Considering I'd only been asleep about 15-20 minutes, I was in a very deep sleep, and woke up convinced it was just a test. It didn't seem to occur to me that no one would test a fire alarm at that time of the morning. Then I went outside and one of my friends hadn't gone to bed yet, which confused me, because in my head ages had passed since I'd gone to bed.

I got back to bed again about 3am, but various things kept waking me up, but I did have a dream that I was seeing Radiohead live, which was damn cool.

My spanish exam was ok, my teacher seems to think I did really well. I was way too nervous though and paused a bit but she think I'm over a C. Best get remembering my German one now! gah.

My parents keep arguing and slamming doors like it's going to achieve something. -.-

But we got goven our stupid award forms today, for our last 'fun assembly'

awards like "you've been tangoed" etc

Been pretty funny :)

Last day of school today. Hurrah. Well for 4 weeks anyway.

This year wasnt much of a muck up. Some students sent out fake "please takes", which is what teachers recieve if they need to cover a class. So there were lots of random teachers turning up at random places.

Another trick was to throw flour bombs at the junior school. That worked quite well, the poor 1st years were covered in it. And aother guy started mc-ing onstage, but the whole school booed him off. Hes the guy that threw he flour bombs aswell, and is now banned from prom haha.

As for me, we went to the park for a barbecue, and some drink, because we're classy.

Wow, last day? I wish we had some form of study leave sometimes! School is so dull lately

Well, we have to go back on the 6th june or something, thats when we move into our next year. But thats only for about 3 weeks then its the summer holidays again.

Study leave sounds good an all, but youre better off in school, cos you never actually do anything except laze around the house.

    • I must have missed that yesterday, sorry! Scott did make the same tongue in cheek comment on today's show about Rylan. It's a shame Rylan isn't the go to cover for Scott, I assume his commitments away from R2 prevent that. I enjoyed his last cover stint. Spoony is the go to stand in for the mid afternoon slot (he's covering again week after next while Scott's off getting married).   In that case, I think you're right!
    • Not that last minute. Scott was talking about it on his own show yesterday, saying he and Rylan have a deal where they cover each other's shows but Rylan only covers Scott when he can be bothered!
    • Sorry I should have been clearer, I meant daytime weekday. Weekend shows would count as a 'step up' from overnights for OJ.
    • If we're counting the overnight slot, OJ Borg regularly covers weekend shows.
    • The only weekday R2 DJ who would ever cover a weekend slot?!
    • What I assume is a very last minute change... Scott Mills is in for Rylan today.
    • Radio 1 at Parklife will be presented by Vicky and Nat. Nat is currently listed to present her usual Sunday show on that weekend but I imagine that will change and someone else will be doing it instead. The Radio 1 presenters at Download will be Daniel P Carter, Jack Saunders, Alyx Holcombe and Nels Hylton.
    • Nat in for Dean with Vicky as well that day.
    • So the end of weekend afternoons this week - new show is July 1st.
    • Arielle is in for Greg on Monday 27th May.
    • He’s definitely gotten better and the show has sounded fine this week. I think it been at its best when it’s been Katie and Jamie or Vick and Katie. Vick and Jamie are ok together, but I do think the show sounds better when it’s Vick and Katie and therefore I still don’t really understand the point of the trio.    Jamie is, however, a lot better than Danny Beard!
    • The RAJAR coming on later this year reflecting later summer to autumn will be interesting to how it reflects Matt and Mollie in afternoons to the revised changes on radio 1’s new music slots and the schedule re-shuffling Radio 3 introducing a new slate of programmes. Then, later on this year have speech radio stations having domestic political coverage of the election but also America’s presidential election.
    • I actually caught snippets of today’s show, and I found it much better than the last time I listened. I have made it no secret that I like Jamie on the radio, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Matt & him together last year. People have criticised him for not being relatable, but I have to agree with the comment above that I have always found him a naturally warm person to listen to. Maybe the going home set up was something that needed settling in and things are starting to take shape.  It must have been difficult for him joining an established duo in Vick & Katie to begin with.  Jamie was great on something songs today, fully engaged in the caller and sounded like a real presenter. Maybe he is doing as a lot of us hoped and really learning as he goes, how to do it properly.
    • Agree with this. The anti-Jamie feeling was IMO quite influenced by the negativity around him replacing Jordan, since Jordan was exceptional and also universally loved. When people mention Danny and Jamie in the same sentence about bad hiring decisions I almost choke - Jamie may not be perfect but he's several leagues better than Danny already and has bags of potential. Danny is poor and has shown zero potential...
    • Jamie started 4 March, and the figures only going up to 31 March, so it isn't reliable. But it has shown the numbers have dropped in afternoons compared to last quarter. It looks like it's Capital's gain.
