You can spend as much as you like on a present, flowers, or making her day special... but they always moan when you don't get them a ruddy card.

The best present I got my mum was last year at Budgens they were selling a plant pot and some random plant for £1.99. The pot looked much more pricey, so I brought it for that, wrapped it up and she loved it. A year later it's flowering again!

I posted a card to my mum on thursday - I hope it arrives. The Uni post is proper dodgy, but I hope it's got there by now. My sister has sent a present and my dad is buying flowers on our behalf.

I only knew it was Mother's Day because I happened to walk past Clinton's Cards a week or so ago. I never realised before how much these type of events rely on TV advertising. I was in a bar last night and the rugby was on Sky and in all the commercial breaks were these M&S adverts for Mother's Day. If it wasn't for my sister's TV addiction and Clinton's cards need to sell cards for every event possible (I swear they invent half of them themselves) I wouldn't have a clue about it.

On another note, I reckon Father's Day will be on my birthday this year.

Digging up this thread to see what you all did this year for those fortunate enough to have a mother.

I had expected Next to deliver my expensive flowers on time, but had to wait till mid-afternoon for the delivery! £6.75 delivery wasted indeed. Needless to say I have complained. They're a good company, but telling me to be patient and wait till 5.30pm isn't acceptable when you have a mother asking where her present is!

Flowers (the bouquet is huge, I didn't expect it to be the size of me when I ordered it) and the soundtrack to The Sound Of Music, I don't see the point in spending loads to prove how much I love her; she knows that I love her every day. I was hoping to also spend the say with her but I phoned this morning from my dad's to discover she was somewhere in Wiltshire with my aunty, which was nice. :( And then she phoned again half an hour ago telling me that she'll be home later than usual so I shouldn't "bother" coming round until the evening.

Oh, and my brother decided that breaking the plumbing and then knocking down a wall in an attempt to fix it would be a sufficient enough gift.

We made a huge effort for my nan who seems to be quite ill at the moment with back problems. But she didn't seem fussed. Rather than my mother's efforts she was more interested in what my uncles had brought her. Ungratefulness.
