The press release said that, but it also states on the press release that Mark Goodier will be live as well, which is certainly not correct as the Pick Of The Pops Christmas special is already available on Sounds. Jane pre recorded last year's Christmas day special, along with the two bank holiday shows she did earlier in the year. I stand to be corrected though 🤷

Steffan Powell (former Radio 1 Newsbeat presenter/newsreader) is sitting in for Owain Wynn Evans on New Year's Day/2nd/3rd January.

A few other schedule changes going into December:

Shaun Keaveny in for Liza Tarbuck tonight (30th November)

Tina Daheley in for Jeremy Vine on Tuesday 3rd December

Jason Mohammed in for Owain on Friday 6th December.

Romesh off again next week (7th) so Emma Willis sits in

Nick Grimshaw in for Rylan on Saturday 14th, 21st and 28th (I assume he's in the following Saturday as well with Rylan still in Panto).

I see Gaby is covering breakfast so I assume she is covering the following week as well and Scott starts on like the 6th or something? do you remember when Zoe started it was like the 2nd or 3rd of Jan 2019 wasn't it?

Take that back was 14th January so maybe there will be 2/3 weeks of Gaby covering

Grimmy in for Rylan on Saturday 4th January

Week Commencing 6th January

Gary Davies is still in for Vernon

Edith Bowman in for Jo Whiley

Spoony is 'in' for Trevor Nelson. I'm not sure whether that means he's finished on Rhythm Nation by this point, but I'm surprised Spoony is covering what is effectively his own slot so close to him taking over with The Good Groove. It also means someone else will be covering the afternoon show... Hopefully OJ Borg.

Maybe they havent adjusted the schedule pages yet but that could be the first week of the new shows, Breakfast and Afternoons are not labelled

It won't be the first week of new shows. Pretty sure I read that Trevor Nelson has specifically said now about starting 'late Jan' which ties in with several comments about w/c 27 Jan being the launch week. After panto, Scott will need a break and prep time, in order to then have a decent run of the new show before any breaks.

Is that a late change? It was meant to be Spoony today and tomorrow wasn’t it?

Yeah I think so. Spoony was meant to be on all week (except Christmas day). Tomorrow and Boxing Day was definitely meant to be Spoony followed by Richie at 4, but they've just merged the two shows together on those days.

Richie is actually on for 5 hours on Boxing Day between 2 and 7.

Mark Goodier is presenting the breakfast show next week, with OJ Borg on the afternoon show and Phil Williams on overnights all week.

Seems Spoony has had brain surgery over Christmas. Hope he is ok. Nice to see OJ has some weekday cover slots as well. Wonder if Mark will be the go to cover now with Scott? Gary in for Vernon as well.

I heard Spoony revealing it on the radio, understandably he gotta bit emotional when talking about it. Glad to hear he's on the mend and back on air.

OJ is the main stand in for Sara (he's covering this week bar tonight and tomorrow because of no drive time show on NYE/NYD) but yeah I'm glad he's doing the interim afternoon slot from next week. It's a shame he didn't get the slot full time to be fair. Will be interesting to see who covers Trevor going forwards. I don't think we'll see Mark covering often to be fair. He's only done one day cover since he returned (one day in fir Vernon). OJ and Gary Davies seem to fill the void that Mark Goodier used to fill sitting in for the main DJs. They're probably just a bit stuck for cover presenters at the moment. Had Grimmy not still been on 6 music next week, he would've been a good shout to sit on either show (his Rylan cover has been great but that's for another post)

    • Having spent quite a bit of time driving last week, listening to Greg is always good.  The 10 minute takeover provides a good pick me up and his show on Monday was quite good.     RMC im neither here nor there for me  Charlie on Dance Anthems on her own is better. Matt/Mollie/Jerry is always a good listen Going home last week when it was just Vick & Katie for the 3/4 shows (I think) was a good listen.   The Wednesday show with Jamie was ok to listen to, I just don't think he added much.   Can't comment on weekends as I only listen to Dance Anthems on catch up 😂
    • Nope sorry didnt manage to downloade these episode! Any chance you downloaded the first ever new music show with Jack Saunders! If you have it please message me
    • Apologies for the specific post, but did anyone manage to record any of Jack Saunders New Music Shows for the Sound of 2025? Specifically these two episodes since they’re removed from BBC Sounds now:   https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0026k1t https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/m0026k7s If you have them please DM/message me! Thank you so much!
    • Rachel Chinouriri is in for Jess on Sunday 16th February. Mo Ayoub is in for Benji on Wednesday 26th February.
    • Tina Daheley in for Jeremy Vine from Monday 10th February for two weeks Phil Williams covering OJ Borg from Monday 17th February for a week Romesh Ranganathan is off again on Saturday 15th February.. Josh Widdecombe sits in Michelle Visage is in for Elaine Paige On Sunday all this month. Shaun Keaveny in for Rob Beckett on Sunday 23rd February
    • Emil in for Matt with Jerry on Thursday 20th February.
    • Pop Anthems Extended Next Thursday 3pm - 4pm instead of ending at 3:30pm Vick & Katie to start at the later time of 4pm
    • Yep the Jamie Laing and Danny Beard changes have meant that recently when you the words 'Changes at Radio 1' you do sometimes fear the worst. While I applaud Aled for making the move to put Matt & Mollie on weekdays, their show on weekends was so strong it sort of made the decision for him. If they'd never reached weekdays it would've probably been one of the strongest shows to never make weekdays.
    • James Cusack and Sam & Danni have settled into their new shows really well,  Sam & Danni's show will go from strength to strength as time goes on. The new slot will give them perfect chance to build up to an inevitable move to weekdays.  Going Home is the weak link on the station for me, sadly. It really has suffered losing Jordan. I don't really listen to the show anymore but I gave it a go last week and wasn't impressed. Jamie Laing kept just frequently interrupting with inane comments that added very little. I just don't see the need for him when Vick & Katie were already an established duo.  RMC are fine as presenters.. although i don't think it's ever been the right slot for them. I don't think mid morning needs a trio. Jack Saunders was destined for the new music show so that was another one of Aled's better decisions.
    • I think all the above posts have summed up overall how I feel. I can't believe it's been nearly a year since Jordan left. I've got to be honest, I feel myself turning over to Radio 2 and sticking with it a lot more often. Greg and Matt are definitely the strongest presenters on the station. I'm not as fully sold on the Matt & Jerry pairing as much as I am Matt & Mollie, that said it's still enjoyable, especially when you compare with what we had on afternoons until last summer. Moving Matt and Mollie to weekdays is the best decision Aled has made in my opinion. Greg has definitely stepped things up a gear again, especially since his new producer came in and since Jordan started at Capital. Nothing will ever beat the Chris Smith pairing, but Greg and Calum are a great double act, the on air interaction with the production team is great as well. I hope he has a few more years on the show at the least as there is no one obvious to replace him in my opinion.
    • Agree with all the above, and let's also take a moment to remember it's less than a year since Danny Beard was on every weekend while James (and others) sat on the sidelines. Thankfully the right decisions were made in the end!
    • Certainly compare now to around this stage a year ago and things look a lot more rosy. For a few weeks back then it looked like it may be an afternoon line-up of Dean & Vicky followed by Jamie Laing & Vick. Meanwhile Matt & Mollie and Katie would still be stuck on weekends. Thankfully of course the further changes announced later that month fixed those issues.
