He didn’t seem to say when though - sounds like after the tickets so on sale which doesn’t make much sense.

they’ve done that in the past before, and of course Glastonbury never releases the lineup until after the tickets have gone on sale

Sunday has made the lineup more equal in terms of gender which is great

Ed Sheeran will be Saturday's big draw but I think Sundays line up on the main stage is a better mix of music tastes. I think most people will just be happy to be at a festival again though!

Incidentally, Lorde was one of my favourites over the years when she came to Hull.

I used to like it when they played musical mashups of bits of all the songs from performing artists as part of the announcements. Wasn’t expecting Lorre as the headliner but excellent choice

Future Sounds Stage if like previous years will be the Big Top which always ends up being rammed with people when the bigger acts are on.

Even if with the case of no covid regulations whether it will be bit more open air in the tent and less covered. Do think Foals would’ve worked better on the Main stage I’d argue they are at headlining main stage point in career

Is anyone going to try and go to Coventry?

Not 100% but I'm in the Midlands so don't want to pass up the opportunity to go with it being fairly local so it'll be a shame if I miss out on tickets.

Always intrigued to see what the specialist music tent gets called each year. It's still the In New Music We Trust tent to me ?

Seems to be the Future Sounds tent this year. It was "The 1 for New Music" in 2019 and "the other stage" in 2018 and "where it begins" in 2017. Slight identity crisis!

Seems Radio 1 are playing it safe with British acts this year.

think that’s fair comment on the safeness of the homegrown choices but its the case I imagine given the volatility of the covid rules and still in a global pandemic think the music and events teams want to have fair share of acts that if a new variant was to happen and saw travel restrictions

Think its credit of the talent on the UK music scene that we have a festival with such commitment to strong music talent and with the coronavirus pandemic it maybe some of the acts first festivals. I’m pleased of how the music and events team got the lineup without many crossovers with Glasto

They did send out links to special Happy Hour mixes to those going. Seems new to this year. Not the same, but...

Big Weekend is going to be fun for the DJs. It must be a while since they've been able to mix without restrictions. And it'll be very different to 2019 when you had the likes of Annie Mac, Grimmy, Phil Taggart, Maya Jama and Dev.

Including Huw Stephens.

Considering that theres future soul, chillest show, future dance it wouldve been good if they announced that there would be 1 soul spotlight artist on Future Sounds stage giving Victoria Jane’s show bit of content a few piano session and maybe run a Piano Session Introducing event on BBC Introducing stages across festivals like R&L, R1BW, GLAST as cross BBC INTRO + RELAX Promo.

Think it will be good to hear presenter like Jack Saunders presenting from Big Weekend as for an event like that he’s got the needed energy and enthusiasm that will carry it with doing interviews and such. Maybe will hope to hear him or even see him doing Glasto coverage later this summer with Clara Amfo.

Think presenter like Greg James will be excited to get back out there as he works on the listener interaction and can tell likes being involved in events where he can chat with listeners.

Jordan at the station for 6 years. Will be the first time with such household recognition as will be more name and face recognised from TV too

I do wonder who’ll they’ll have hosting. I’d be very hyped to see Jordan/ Vick or Greg.

This about TV or Radio could see chances of Clara Amfo and Jack Saunders being involved

    • Wednesday, surely? But this is another mess, as this weeks Summer press release said it’ll be Sam & Danni no Jamie from the 28th - so it’s actually a whole week earlier!
    • Jamie Laing’s last show before his summer break will be on Wednesday 16th July.
    • I worked out once Scott spent 3 months of a year off his own slot in the Moyles days and more like 4 in Grimmys days, six weeks of his own holiday and projects, six covering Grimmy plus some ad hoc days
    • Back on topic, I think there's quite a few of the current Radio 1 presenters who would be able to adapt to Radio 2's style in the future. It's more of question of how many of them will actually end up there. With much of R2's line up changed over the past couple of years, it's quite possible we won't see much movement there, and R2 management might even decide to look elsewhere to bring in new presenters in future.
    • With OJ covering on bank holidays. She is the best person for the job however... they're going to end up with a situation like Scott covering R1 breakfast back in the day, where she spends quite a bit of time off her own slot covering Breakfast, plus her own holiday and other commitments. She's been filming for something recently which has meant she's been off several days a week since May. She was off last week, on breakfast this week, OJ is on Mon/Tues next week, then She's off the following two weeks.
    • Looking back at this I would say now that Sara is the main cover - I think she has been reestablished as it now
    • Purley on the R1 Dance station.. Someone on DS said don't expect to see any changes to the schedule on the new stations however if they are taking on Capital Dance with this, which they clearly are, which has live presenters 7am - 10pm except for the 11am mix then they'll surely have to have a proper scheduled set of shows. At the moment Arielle is the only "live" per say show and only "live" a few days a week with earlier shows being repeated Thursday Friday and Saturday. Connor and Charlie are clearly pre records but was this only for the time it was online only and they have already got a schedule ready to go on day 1? also of note is that Charlie is taking over a podcast as well as starting a new project with podcasting which makes me wonder if she is about to step back from Dance Anthems all together to concentrate on those and Connor takes over? So you could have Arielle doing 9-12 weekdays live then someone else 12-3 and Connor live 3-6 on R1D and doing Dance Anthems on a Saturday.
    • As none of the Going Home Team aren't currently on the air, that's a bit if an issue. Considering most of the Dance DJs will be out there, I'm surprised none of them are being utilised to host the 1-4 slot that weekend.
    • Going Home presenters have done the last few years ?
    • Nat and Vicky are being sent to Ibiza this year. They’ll be live on Friday 1st August from 1-4pm.
    • Since Radio 1 Dance and Anthems have been allowed to broadcast on DAB, do we think they’ll be a proper schedule of shows like on Radio 1 Dance with the morning show and Dance Anthems at drive time. Maybe Lauren Redfern, Tyler Selby, Chrissy Cameron or Matt Hallsworth will be scheduled on named shows like Hits Radio 00s or Capital Anthems rather than the generic ‘Radio 1 Anthems’ show. Obviously it would probably cost more to produce actual shows on the station however.
    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
