Surprised to see Vicky back on afternoons full stop, let alone paired with someone who isn’t Nat. Will just feel like Dean is away!

It’s a real shame Sam & Danni aren’t being given a run out on afternoons when both Matt & Mollie are away.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Sam and Danni have been booked to do drive that week as Vick is definitely off and then Katie is also off for one of the weeks that Vick is, although it’d probably make more sense to put Jamie with one of Vicky and Lauren and then have Sam and Danni on Going Home.

There would be literally no point I think moving Sam & Danni to weekend afternoons. They’ll be the next going home or breakfast hosts imo

I can only assume they're genuinely undecided who's taking over, these month long rotations are presumably trials to see who's best. If it was Danny Beard, even if they couldn't take over till a later date, they'd still be able to announce it.

Can't really see these as trials - each of them have done enough in the past for them to make a choice, and we all know James is by far the best! I suspect there's more to it and a good reason why we don't know yet...

I think the presenter of that slot will be coming straight from another station, potentially from within the BBC like Nikita. I notice Swarzy is covering a weekend slot in a few weeks, I wonder if she’d be another name they’re considering, and they’re waiting for a point to make all of the changes at once.

Unless they’re waiting until January, it won’t be Sam and Danni because they’re booked in on Friday EB until then and they wouldn’t have put them on that slot if they were planning to move them halfway through the given tenure.

Personally, I wouldn’t be surprised if we get more than a weekend afternoon host announced in the next schedule changes and they are potentially waiting for everything to fall into place to then make a big announcement and launch a new schedule in November or January for example. 
 

Because not only will the weekend slot need filling, there is the new R1 spin off station being launched ‘this autumn’, which I can see the likes of Ore, Nat, James etc being part of and I wonder if any of those shows will be simulcasted on the main station. There is then Mollie’s maternity leave which I can see them wanting to cover, and then there’s questions about whether they do something with the Power Down Playlist now that there’s no R1 Relax anymore, could they put something different in that slot? 
So I think management might be waiting to be able to sort a few things out at the same time.

Next weeks Going Home schedule:

Monday: Just Vick

Tuesday: Vick and Jamie

Wednesday: Jamie and Sam and Danni 

Thursday: Sam and Danni

This was taken from the At Home podcast today. It is assumed that Sam and Danni are covering Wednesday and Thursday because both Vick and Katie are off.

Dunno where you're getting this from. The 10:30 and 15:30 bullitens were 2 minutes in length as normal...

Edit: Apologies, you're right. I wonder why they've changed it?

Maybe the same purpose as those one-minute bulletins when Jordan took over Capital Breakfast - if bulletins from 1030 to 1630 get extended there will still be six 2-min and six 3-min bulletins so they can meet their quota.

      - Jamie Laing will take a break from Going Home from 28th July. Sam and Danni will cover. - Greg James will host his show until 11am from 21st July (Monday to Thursday only). - Mylo and Rosie, who previously hosted Hits Radio Breakfast in West Yorkshire, will host Friday EB in July. - Charley Marlowe of TikTok fame will host Friday EB in August. - Tskenya Frazer will host Life Hacks with Lauren Layfield in July, whilst Yinka Bikinni will host with Lauren in August. - Jamie Laing and Katie Thistleton will return to Going Home in September.

      Talking on this - I wonder who Scott's main cover will be, we have had OJ Sara and Mark in for him now since he took over? curve "ball" would Zoe become the cover now she's established back on weeeknds? or do you think they are easing Sara back into it ready for a two week holiday in Summer? Sara was the main cover for Evans's tenure and got dropped when Zoe took over for Fearne then Nikki and Gaby they seem to have moved away from this "outsider" coming in to cover and especially now not Gaby or Nikki as they have other gigs

      It's a good package but sung by the House Gospel Chior so they can always resing a bit of it I wonder if it will get a refresh for 2026? Zoe's seeemed to be refreshed every year although in her tenure stayed as the same theme and of course he will have Christmas versions
