How many listeners has Scott?

Can't believe I haven't seen Mills' figures being posted. it's HIS fansite??!!?!

At the time of looking, about 5.30 this morning, I couldn't find them. But I was also in a rush, trying to get ready for work

TELL ME G  J IS JOKING?!?! Half a million new listeners?! There can't be that many insomniacs in the UK. Must be all the Radio 4 listeners tuning in, considering all the boring R4 extracts he plays

Edith, is that you?

3.4. The listenership questions

- Once an individual has agreed to take part, the interviewer asks a series of questions related to the respondent’s demographic details, household tenure, number of radio sets, access to digital platforms (TV, internet, DAB) etc…

- The respondent is then asked to keep a listening diary for one week, detailing for each quarter hour, which station they listened to, where, and on which platform.

- The interviewer conducts a procedure in which each respondent is asked to sort through a set of cards with the names of radio stations available in the area. This is then used to personalise the respondent’s diary.

- The diary also comprises a self completion questionnaire which covers media consumption including radio station awareness, television viewing, newspaper readership, internet and mobile device usership.

I'm very happy to see Evans do so well in the latest RAJAR report. He had very big shoes to fill taking over from Sir Terry Wogan, and I actually feel he's a better listen to than Moyles, although I apreciate people enjoy his show and I'm happy to see him also up on the last results.

One area I'm a bit WTF about is how Fearne is only up 250,000 listeners, while Greg James is up 500,000 listeners. Cotton is fantastic in her role as mid morning presenter of the station. She's funny and has a very bubbly personality, and very easy to listen to in the background. The same can't be said for Greg James who is better suited for comercial radio, sorry not a fan. Although I only listen to the first hour of his show and than its over to Steve Wright in the Afternoon. Yes most of my radio listening is split between Radio 1 and 2 now days.

Good result for Scott however, especially with this being the first results out without Chappers around, who was a massive part of the show. Prefered the show with Mark, but still a good result for Scott and Beccy who has taken on a bigger on air role as of late.

I think Evans is going to get the shock of his life at the next quarter and will be consiberbly down, like Jono said there will be a percentage of the increase that are curious about what the high profile presenters new show will be like.

He may have to return this if what i predict becomes reality. The story courtesy of the daily fail...

One area I'm a bit WTF about is how Fearne is only up 250,000 listeners, while Greg James is up 500,000 listeners.

Well I see it this way. Jo Whiley was hugely popular on mid-mornings and may have had a lot more listeners than Edith Bowman (last recorded to have 5 million when she was with Colin and was more popular back then).

Jo Whiley may have had more than Edith - thus had less listeners for Fearne to gain. So 250,000 would show Fearne has maintained Jo's listeners and added more. Whereas Greg had more to gain so gained 500,000 on Edith's show.

We don't know how well they did in the last RAJARs. But if they maintained the predecessors' listener figures it might be more to do with Bowman than Greg being more popular than Fearne.

Oh... It just sounded so... made up!

I suppose that'd work, but I agree it's not totally accurate unless you do actually ask everyone.

Ohai.

Interesting spin on Moyles' comments... Typical tabloid garbage.

CHRIS MOYLES: RADIO RATINGS ARE FIXED

SORE loser Chris Moyles unleashed an astonishing rant against “fixed” official radio ratings after being beaten by Chris Evans.

The gobby Radio 1 breakfast host said the system was biased against his show because it did not include listeners under 15.

He launched his childish tirade after Radio 2’s new breakfast show host Evans, 44, saw record ratings of 9.5million, nearly 2m more than 36-year-old Moyles.

Despite being pipped at the post yet again by a Radio 2 host, the lardy Leeds-born DJ cried foul and insisted his ratings were really a million listeners more than the official Rajar figures.

He fumed: “We’re on 7.88m, but if you add on the 14, 13 and 12-year-olds, do you know what that figure is?

“It’s nine million, over a million more. That is because we’re wicked and bad.”

The mouthy Radio DJ added: “There aren’t many 13 and 14-year-olds listening to Radio 2, so their figure is fairly accurate.”

Evans, who took over the Radio 2 breakfast show from 71-year-old Terry Wogan in January, had an average weekly audience of 9.53m listeners in the first three months of 2010.

And although his style of presenting led critics to believe he could lose the show listeners, Evans’s numbers were up on Wogan’s last audience of 8.1m.

That makes his the most popular breakfast show in Europe, with everyone except Moyles, who added a couple of hundred thousand listeners – but still failed to make the grade.

BBC sources confirmed that Moyles’s ratings would have been just over 9m if the under-15s were included, but that is 500,000 fewer than his rival. There is no love lost between the two giants of the airwaves.

Evans recently refused to take part in a TV show made by Moyles about previous Radio 1 breakfast show hosts.
