Heather and Darren

It's basically Heather (big lady), a bit naive, has had a bambino. Any number of people could have been the dad (apparently), although I actually find this astonishing. It turns out daddy is the young lad from the car shop - the most unexpected person on Planet Earth. Me thinks Eastenders may have gone a tad too far with this one personally.

I think the writers were intending to shock the audience in revealing the identity of the father, and the way they wrote the 'reveal' was rather deft, but this is just too shocking to the point of it being implicitly disturbing. Well, it is for my sensibilities anyway.

Eastenders can make you stop and think though. The recent "Stacey" storyline where Stacey was revealed as being bi-popular could have been helpful to a lot of people. I found that particular storyline very powerful indeed.

Phil Mitchell though, a "Gangster" still living with his mum has always been laughable however.

So is there a big age gap then? How young is this lad? I still can't really picture it. Does anyone have photos or something?

This is Heather:

And that's Darren:

I think Darren's supposed to be 18 years old (ish!).

In response to the thread, yeah, it is slightly disturbing, and no, it probably wouldn't happen in real life, even though soaps are supposed to be an accurate representation of reality. This storyline, however, does offer a certain degree of escapism as you forget the negative stuff in your life - imagine tackling Heather. No thanks.

Oh right... so she looks about 50, and he looks about 13. She looks like she could be his grandmother. I've got you. It's like that baby-faced kid who was supposed to have become a dad at 13 (but it turns out wasn't actually the father). I'm not sure about soap operas being an accurate representation of reality though.
