Greg James does it for Dave TV. Chappers does it for that worlds worst sports accident show. Scott does it for TMF's top 40 and I'm sure Edith does it for Curry's adverts. I've onyl just realised how many of Radio 1's presenters do these things, are they trying to put voice over man out of a job? And can anyone think of anymore?

Zane does loads of adverts. One that springs to mind is the Kings of Leon new album plus quite a few others. Think he does more on mtv2?

I think most of the Radio 1 lineup exept from Moyles (yet) do adverts. Edith is on Comet not Currys BTW! Jo Whileys annoying voice is on most bands adverts, zanes is too but he sounds less like himself on them. Scott was on a commercial too recently but i've forgotten who for, could have been another band.

Yeah, I pretty sure he does do that one

Ima not too sure, sometimes it does sound like his voice but then other times not :|

They should have these things posted on a website!

We could always email the company. I emailed clearsil to find out what language the advert was originally recorded in before it was dubbed in english.

No. They're not.

They use them because people know the voice so when they're advertising their product, people think "aah, that's Greg from R1. Let's buy it"

Most voiceovers are radio presenters anyway. Only exceptional voiceovers can get a salary they can live off by just doing voiceovers.

Greg also does Keane's album.

Sarah Cox did Sun Bingo last year and im sure Fearne Cotton did some beauty product.

Sara Cox also did the "if you smoke, your children are likely to smoke" adverts

Jo Whiley does the Next ad. Obviously they do lots of vo's for albums, like Jo did the Newton Faulkner ad.

One of the old Entertainment presenters then became a voice over artist as well.

Edit: Jo does Dairylea Dunkers as well

She did that skinny cow stuff too.

I remember The Script advert quite well that Jo voiced. "This is The Script - Ireland's hottest new band". Don't know why that sticks in my mind so much.

nah i'm pretty sure the voice we'll be hearing on the next x factor will be vernon's; "it's term, teh ferce, the muuuwwwwsicc!"

isnt it weird hearing a voice you recognise on an advert!

Surely they should be getting paid enough from radio, tv presenting etc to not need to do adverts as well? but I love the idea of Edith sitting at home surrounded by free comet goods!

They might very well get paid enough from the presenting work, it does their reputation no harm if they do (credible) adverts as well, and after all we all have bills to pay. Can you imagine how much Greg's car insurance must be? under 25 and a broadcaster lol

Not impressed with censorship

Depends he might be able to credit himself as a voiceover artist and get it cheaper.....

    • Richie Anderson in for Rylan tomorrow.
    • Mylo and Rosie said at the end of their show today that they would also be on Early Breakfast on Thursday 24th July (even though the schedule still says Dean)
    • James is in for Dean from Monday 11th to Thursday 14th August. Dean is in for Greg from Monday 11th to Friday 15th August. Jaguar is in for Sarah on Friday 15th August.
    • Tara Kumar is in for Alyx on Sunday 13th July.
    • Conor Knight & Lauren Layfield are in for Matt & Mollie on Monday 14th July.  Matt is solo on Tuesday 15th July.  Jerry is in for Mollie between Wednesday 16th & Thursday 24th July.  Maia Beth is covering Future Pop on Wednesday 16th & Wednesday 23rd July. On Sunday 27th July the Chillest Show is reduced to an hour, and 20.00-21.00 is a BBC Proms special with JADE. On Thursday 31st July 18.00-20.00 in place of Jack's show it's the Dance Party Warm-Up with Danny Howard (ahead of the Ibiza weekend).
    • Dean McCullough in for Greg w/c 4th August. James Cusack on EB.
    • Well looks like Mollie is off all month now so presumably a personal matter.
    • Intrigued why Matt & Mollie aren't presenting breakfast on Monday, with James in for them instead (which has happened before).. or even James given a chance to present the breakfast show?
    • Sam & Danni seem to be down for Breakfast on Monday. James Cusack on Going Home. That’s another new name in the list of “people who have hosted Going Home in 2025”.
    • Wednesday, surely? But this is another mess, as this weeks Summer press release said it’ll be Sam & Danni no Jamie from the 28th - so it’s actually a whole week earlier!
    • Jamie Laing’s last show before his summer break will be on Wednesday 16th July.
    • I worked out once Scott spent 3 months of a year off his own slot in the Moyles days and more like 4 in Grimmys days, six weeks of his own holiday and projects, six covering Grimmy plus some ad hoc days
    • Back on topic, I think there's quite a few of the current Radio 1 presenters who would be able to adapt to Radio 2's style in the future. It's more of question of how many of them will actually end up there. With much of R2's line up changed over the past couple of years, it's quite possible we won't see much movement there, and R2 management might even decide to look elsewhere to bring in new presenters in future.
    • With OJ covering on bank holidays. She is the best person for the job however... they're going to end up with a situation like Scott covering R1 breakfast back in the day, where she spends quite a bit of time off her own slot covering Breakfast, plus her own holiday and other commitments. She's been filming for something recently which has meant she's been off several days a week since May. She was off last week, on breakfast this week, OJ is on Mon/Tues next week, then She's off the following two weeks.
    • Looking back at this I would say now that Sara is the main cover - I think she has been reestablished as it now
