who cares what agents think, they can be fired scott cant they!...

i don't think this site could do anything more to get any bigger now really, it's come a long way from the days of the poll on the homepage.

on the grid.

I think its very well recognised on radio one. I have heard Jono mentioned by scott mills and even more by chappers.

To me UM is the unofficial radio one forum. I am really more of a fan of chris Moyles. But I come here because I don't like the chrismoyles.net site

To me its not really a fan site. I am not a fan of scott mills in that way. I am more of a fan of radio one generally. I like the playlist. A few years ago I disliked the playlist and often turned off(even when I like the djs).

yes i agree, for me it's so much more than just a fansite for scott mills. chrismoyles.net don't like talking about other djs, and the bbc message boards couldn't take criticism so closed. this is THE radio 1 fansite for me and also allows me to talk about scott. i also like that it is an off topic forum for youthful feeling people :D

I would imagine that it, amongst CM.net and whatnot, are probably visited at least on a daily basis by a fair few people at R1. They seem pretty net-savvy these days and probably stay on top of the hardcore-fan feedback (especially if it's talking about them). I know that were I on R1, I'd scour high and low to read about myself :P

Mind you, the plugs from Scott probably don't hurt either.

The BBC forums are still around, they're just not promoted as much and have a different audience.

I prefer UM to ChrisMoyles.net too. People think that we complain too much here? Well, they haven't seen the language and criticism used there everyday. And plus, wasn't it until recently that Chris started to say nice stuff about his site?

Oh yeah, a lot of the DJs, producers, and probably even Newsbeat are always lurking around. My favorite thing to do is just reload the webcam on every show waiting for UM to pop up on one of them.

i find it funny a lot of radio 1 djs and workers avoid the message boards as they're honest. yet they have a text and email system surely it's going to be no worse than reading them?

I'd bet that most people who spend money on texting the show are a little more sycophantic than message board members are, especially since message board users (especially on respected sites like this, which promotes intelligence and a fairly web-savvy style of posting) are usually the more in-tune fan who are interested in the inner-workings and such.

It might be a push of a comparison, but as a wrestling fan, it's the best I can do - wrestlers love fans in the audience, but they hate internet message board fans who discuss it because those on the board know all the backstage stuff and are more critical. Same principle here.

i noticed on chrismoyles.net there is someone working for the bbc interviewing about fansites and how they can play an important role with radio shows. :) it's funny the bbc considers them all so important but i fear their research will mean the bbc will want to set up their own forums again rather than working with unofficial projects :(
