I think a better question would be what DOESN'T suck in my life at the moment. Not only do I have piles of work to do at the mo, I lost my student ID card on Friday, got a really crap mark for something that's meant to be going towards my final grade and bits of my stuff keep going missing from the house. Brilliant.

I wouldn't worry about it, I ended up re-sitting most of my Biology and Environmental Science AS modules... so did most other people as it turned out.

Coursework. Although I handed in 1,500 words of thoughtless waffle to my Media tutor yesterday who said it was "pure brilliance".

The fact that I had to get out of bed at 3am for a fire alarm then only just got back into bed whne we all got kicked out again as they couldnt get the fire alarms reset and so there was "no fire cover". What are the chances of there actually being a fire and if there was I think the screams would probably give us a warning. I must admit - uni has made me a lot less grateful of fire alarms.

I don't know what it is about being in student Halls that makes fire alarms and fire extinguishers not safety equipment, but toys for idiots to play with. The boys I was living with last year thought the Carbon Dioxide extinguisher was great fun, and we had so many fire alarms that all of our "Break glass here" things had no glass in because they never bothered replacing it.

I am currently trying to do something that is very tedious for a piece of coursework that is due in next week. It involves squinting at a pixelated satellite image and identifying several hundred random points and putting each one into a category to "check the accuracy" of the computer program that does just that in a few seconds. I didn't sleep well last night, I kept waking up, and I'm still a bit deaf from The Kills, so I'd much rather go home and go to bed.

Is that better or worse than cartography? What sucks in my life is waiting by the motorway for the rac and being repeatedly lied to about how long they are going to take.

Is that better or worse than cartography?QUOTE]

We are the first year who didn't have to do cartography, we have to do it all on computer instead. It's similar really, image classification. The software is so unintuitive as well, I had to get my friend to help me with all of it to get me this far, he just seems to understand it more than I do.

My throat hurts and my head feels kind of hot, perhaps I have another cold coming on.

    • There's been a lot of positive reaction to the Mylo and Rosie news so am interested now to hear what their shows are like. And yep wouldn't be surprised if they stay on beyond July as cover ever so often. And that Friday-Sunday news was hidden in the small print a little. It presumably means we lose Party Anthems all that month as that is what has happened this year with Big Weekend, Glasto for example. I certainly I hope it isn't Party Anthems being quietly axed full stop - it and Future Pop are 2 real hidden gems on Radio 1.
    • I’m pleased for Mylo and Rosie, they were highly thought of in our local area and definitely worthy of that slot
    • I’m thinking the same redding and Leeds etc
    • -Considering how little Jamie has appeared since Vick went off on maternity, it probably would've been more sensible to have Sam & Danni taking over from that point and have him return with Katie. - Mylo and Rosie are apparently very good and one of the more popular local presenters who lost their slot when Hits went fully national. I gather they are very popular in Yorkshire. I can see them definitely see them popping up again beyond this stint. -Life Hacks cover is yet another good opportunity for some new voices (I know Yinka has popped up in the past). I have enjoyed Pete Allison covering though. I'm assuming most of August's Friday to Sunday 1-4pm will be made up of festival coverage.
    • - Jamie Laing will take a break from Going Home from 28th July. Sam and Danni will cover. - Greg James will host his show until 11am from 21st July (Monday to Thursday only). - Mylo and Rosie, who previously hosted Hits Radio Breakfast in West Yorkshire, will host Friday EB in July. - Charley Marlowe of TikTok fame will host Friday EB in August. - Tskenya Frazer will host Life Hacks with Lauren Layfield in July, whilst Yinka Bikinni will host with Lauren in August. - Jamie Laing and Katie Thistleton will return to Going Home in September.
    • @eddemundo Thank you 👏🏼 👏🏼 That took some listening on Sounds to get that
