I want to go somewhere exciting for my birthday. It'd either be Norwich or London. I'm not the most adventurous, something like shopping and the like sounds fine. But I'll end up taking a friend, and whoever it is won't have enough money. So any suggestions for what to do?

I'd go the whole hog and go to London. You can always leave your friend outside and then go in all the attractions alone. Maybe.

The museums are worth visiting, the Science Museum and Natural History museum are great, and free. Not so keen on the British Museum though personally. The parks are really nice too if it's not raining.

Also on the subject of museums - the Tate Modern is free and has some pretty cool paintings.

It's a very pretty place, but quite boring.

I say London too. Compared to most other cities, its not that expensive really. So if youre looking for busy birthday, then i suggest London. Its your birthday, dont worry about money.

Maybe you could do a "Camden Crawl" there are enough bars and venues there to keep you going for days.

Could get a bit expensive though.

And get a Travelodge out of town to stay in and get the train out to it - a train to Reading leaves Paddington at 3.30, you can get the night bus to Paddington for £1.50, £12 on the train and you can stay in a double room in a nice clean hotel without bird poo for about £49. Don't forget to put your "I'm still sleeping" thing on the door and you can sleep in until 11am.
