It's just rained most of the day here, thankfully I was inside for most of it though. It's nice blue skies now.

Apparently the north was getting it worst, but we've had some nasty weather down here lately.

Blocked drains - yuck. Having to pay extortionate plumber rates - also yuck.

Around here roads are flooded; Leeds City Station closed until tomorrow from mid-afternoon today (effectively stranding a lot of people); and the police contacting Leeds businesses to tell managers to send their staff home shortly after 4pm. People evacuated from their homes in the trendy waterfront 'Calls' area of Leeds for their own safety...

It's not great here at the moment. British summers, eh?

I hate to come and ruin the party, but its lovely here in glasgow! Chilly, but its not rained all day. No doubt we'll get it soon right enough.

My dads a plumber, i should send him all your way. On our way to london, we'll stop off and i'll make him fix all your problems.

Is any one suffering from the bad weather affecting the UK? A building has collapsed in Sheffield tonight, and supposedly there's been an explosion at a steelworks close to it.

Hang on, which one? Is there a news link to that by any chance?

It's been nice here all day, but the wind's really picking up now.

When is going to be sunny seriously? It's June?! I thought this summer was uspposed to be hotter last year. The only relaly good weather I've seen was for about 6 days at Easter.

I'm getting really fed up with it, the rain never usually bothers me so much but with being finished with school now it;s difficult to make plans, because the weather ends up ruining it.

All the front of my house is flooding, yesterday at knowsley I kept sinking in mud puddles. It's miserable.

I want to see some sunshine :(

Ugh, most of the tall perennials and some tall biennials which I had neglected to stake prior to this bad weather have been flattened. I am not amused. If this absolutely dire weather persists any longer I am certain a large amount of plants will not be able to cope and simply die. I have well-drained soil, but they've seen so much water over the past two weeks that I fear they won't be able to tolerate it any further. The lavenders, I fear, will be the first to go. Not funny. At all. Don't laugh you gits!!111

To further add to my misery, the pond has over-flown. It's either at an alarmingly low level or is pouring over the sides. The frogs are having lots of fun though and I'm sure are doing a good job consuming slugs, but ugh, UGH!

Yeah, tomatoes don't stand-up to heavy wind and rain. They don't mind plenty of water, but they are tender and won't last in heavy downpours.

My pond hasn't got any fish in either, it's just a wildlife pond. I'm sure some of the little creatures that inhabit it have been washed out and sent through the nettles at the back of the pond though. It's a horrible thought :( RIP.

Anyone here in london? is the weather bad?

Im off on the 3rd July, hope its not :(

The weather wasn't too bad today. Sunny in the early morning and late evening, drizzling most of the day.

I've got University Open Days on Friday and Saturday in Nottingham. Apparently people get angry and will shout at us if the weather is bad. Oh well, at least I am based inside so won't get totally soaked.

Our pond overflowed a few months back, about £1000+ worth of fish everywhere apparantly (I wasn't there and never go down that end of the garden anyway), the local cats must have had fun.

Oh dear i'm guessing they weren't goldfish then. All ya needed was some chips for the world most expensive fish & chip supper :D Hope they were covered by insurance

    • I must have missed that yesterday, sorry! Scott did make the same tongue in cheek comment on today's show about Rylan. It's a shame Rylan isn't the go to cover for Scott, I assume his commitments away from R2 prevent that. I enjoyed his last cover stint. Spoony is the go to stand in for the mid afternoon slot (he's covering again week after next while Scott's off getting married).   In that case, I think you're right!
    • Not that last minute. Scott was talking about it on his own show yesterday, saying he and Rylan have a deal where they cover each other's shows but Rylan only covers Scott when he can be bothered!
    • Sorry I should have been clearer, I meant daytime weekday. Weekend shows would count as a 'step up' from overnights for OJ.
    • If we're counting the overnight slot, OJ Borg regularly covers weekend shows.
    • The only weekday R2 DJ who would ever cover a weekend slot?!
    • What I assume is a very last minute change... Scott Mills is in for Rylan today.
    • Radio 1 at Parklife will be presented by Vicky and Nat. Nat is currently listed to present her usual Sunday show on that weekend but I imagine that will change and someone else will be doing it instead. The Radio 1 presenters at Download will be Daniel P Carter, Jack Saunders, Alyx Holcombe and Nels Hylton.
    • Nat in for Dean with Vicky as well that day.
    • So the end of weekend afternoons this week - new show is July 1st.
    • Arielle is in for Greg on Monday 27th May.
    • He’s definitely gotten better and the show has sounded fine this week. I think it been at its best when it’s been Katie and Jamie or Vick and Katie. Vick and Jamie are ok together, but I do think the show sounds better when it’s Vick and Katie and therefore I still don’t really understand the point of the trio.    Jamie is, however, a lot better than Danny Beard!
    • The RAJAR coming on later this year reflecting later summer to autumn will be interesting to how it reflects Matt and Mollie in afternoons to the revised changes on radio 1’s new music slots and the schedule re-shuffling Radio 3 introducing a new slate of programmes. Then, later on this year have speech radio stations having domestic political coverage of the election but also America’s presidential election.
    • I actually caught snippets of today’s show, and I found it much better than the last time I listened. I have made it no secret that I like Jamie on the radio, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed Matt & him together last year. People have criticised him for not being relatable, but I have to agree with the comment above that I have always found him a naturally warm person to listen to. Maybe the going home set up was something that needed settling in and things are starting to take shape.  It must have been difficult for him joining an established duo in Vick & Katie to begin with.  Jamie was great on something songs today, fully engaged in the caller and sounded like a real presenter. Maybe he is doing as a lot of us hoped and really learning as he goes, how to do it properly.
    • Agree with this. The anti-Jamie feeling was IMO quite influenced by the negativity around him replacing Jordan, since Jordan was exceptional and also universally loved. When people mention Danny and Jamie in the same sentence about bad hiring decisions I almost choke - Jamie may not be perfect but he's several leagues better than Danny already and has bags of potential. Danny is poor and has shown zero potential...
    • Jamie started 4 March, and the figures only going up to 31 March, so it isn't reliable. But it has shown the numbers have dropped in afternoons compared to last quarter. It looks like it's Capital's gain.
