Making Music playlists

Does anyone agree, it seems soooo hard (and time-consuming) to compile decent playlists.

Have just found the treasure that is limewire, am also beginning to shove my own stuff into my poor laptop.

Unfortunately, now I have had to start compiling playlists.

If I don't, anyone who comes to my place is treated to the MOST randomn list of stuff on the stereo; from Kate Bush to Razorlight and sounds of Chopper kissing animals, Barbara Streisand to Pixies and The Orb, Stone Roses to GLC and Prodigy, The Killers and Groove Armada to Billy Holiday (don't get any sampling ideas there boys, WOULD NOT be amused)!

Not all of this is necessarily everyone's cup of tea, I understand. My gran loves El Divo; well each to their own. Just pop on Radio 3 for her, bless.

Compiling playlists is a VERY TRICKY business.

My latest playlist, is poetically entitled 'REALLY 'P****D OFF'

Starts off with head banging punk (Pixies, Ramones, Sex Pistols), relieves the aggression s'pose. Followed by a bit of grunge.

Then Smiths, shoe-gazer hits and general wallow-in-it stuff.

But, do you want to stay miserable, or just headbang, dance about and cheer youself up?

So we move on to frantic dance music (just chucked on Pendulum, Prodigy, Underworld...)

Then remembered new camp Armand van Helden song, and Groove Armada.

Just finished compiling my 'REALLY P*****D OFF' playlist, and I'm not 'p******d off' anymore.

There's a moral to the tale.:D

PS Still need advice as to: 'Romantic', 'Young-trendy', 'In-laws-coming to dinner' playlists!

I am afraid all of my music is pretty much cheesy pop so I just go thru my iPod on occasion and pick out my current favourite cheesy songs and make that my playlist then when I get bored of it I start again.

I am very into musical soundtracks just now too so have Wicked, We Will Rock You & Blood Brothers in the car just now and just swap form one to the next as the mood suits :)

My friend is fab at making playlists! She has something for everyone on there and always has one to last almost the entire night when we go round to hers!

Put some Take That on :D Everyone's a winner!! lol

I am quite a fan of the Now Albums :D I work as a Youth Worker Part time and the kids keep bringing in their Cd's to play during the clubs and I am getting a bit worried that I am now a fan of the same music as 5-10 year olds!!!

One of them brought in Now 66 the other day which was very good so I'll need to buy that soon!!

Now albums are great, but mine are all from the 80s or recent Spanish equivalent.

I'm a teacher, so have to keep up with what the Spanish 'yoof' are listening to. Not too keen though. Far prefer British cheesy pop.

Totally agree with you about Take That.

Another Take That fan :D woooo hooooo! There are not many of us on here!!! lol

Now 1-20? That's amazing!!! I started buying them on Tape about Now 26 so 1-20 must be pretty old!! Are there fab old songs on them? I will have to have a nosey on eBay or Amazon for some old ones now ;)

It is pure... cheese. Lol.

I found the cd the other day, she did some magic trickery so it's all on one but I can only listen to it on the computer but I've lost it again. I expect it's somewhere safe. Only an idiot would put it with all her other CD's so it's not there.

My old history made us listen to Now 1 one lesson.

There/ They're/ Their. Different words.

I love the Now albums, I still have Now 48 around somewhere!

I have separate playlists for walking to the shop and sitting in the garden. Other than that, they're all a mixture of The Feeling, The Fratellis and really random music, like the Backstreet Boys and old skool Avril.

I wish I'd collected more Now albums but in this day and age with the download era, they don't play an important part in my music any more. Listening to Radio 1 constantly, by the time the album came out it would be old hat. I did collect Now 35 to Now 61 though... undecided what to do with the collection that still sits here, and is slightly worn after all their play!
