Today was lovely actually. In the periods i actually had classes, i spent my time just moaning about how hot it was and doing nothing else. Rest of it was spent playing a pool tournament... which i came very close to winnning! Im such a man at sport, i become so competitive.

Now im just about to clear my computer of junk and reboot it. If i dont appear tonight or tomorrow you'll know ive managed to somehow break it.

I went to Nottingham Castle today with a couple of friends. They actually destroyed the castle and replaced it with a 17th Century manor house, but it was still quite interesting, and it was free because we're residents of the city. I remember going there when I was about 5 or 6, so it was strange to go again. The kids activities were fun and I got some nice photos of Nottingham.

I'm seriously lacking sugar here though, got serious nice food withdrawal.

Anyone have any ideas of what I can do on my birthday? It'll be just me and my parents and I can't eat or drink anything interesting and I can't really see anything decent that's on at the cinema. I think I'm going to have a second birthday in July some time.

Reasons I'm in a good mood right now:

  • I just had an orgasmic chicken curry (YES!)
  • It's starting to cool down now
  • The rain's stopped
  • I just searched through all my Richard Hammond pictures for the Girly Thread, that's always good to do!
  • We got an e-mail saying that the MPH tickets are up for sale now! :D
  • I downloaded some S Club 7 just to make me happy. I'm currently rocking out to Bring It All Back. Yes.

Huzzah!

Last week in Barcelona, we saw an organic food stall in the food market which described every product as "orgasmic" in English. I think it was called "Orgasmic Organics" so there was orgasmic soup, orgasmic sandwiches etc. It made us giggle, but we're not the most mature of people.

I'm not coping too well with this not being able to eat anything except bread and potatoes thing. I've become irritable and non-communicative and generally depressed. I never realised how much I need sugar. It's because my friends are only interested in alcohol and takeaways, and there's ****all to do here that doesn't involve drinking alcohol. Had a quite amusing conversation with a drunk guy in a suit last night though while my friend was eating the world's greasiest takeaway.

Tonight there was a formal dinner. 10 minutes before I realised I didn't have any appropriate shoes, so I wore flip-flops. They kindly neglected to tell me that it was also a sports presentation event. I really hate those. No one cares, except the people on the rugby team or the hockey team, and I don't want to sit through them.

Every day is a mini adventure with me. Today involved a trip to the park, and the fit barber seeing my friend and I with a big blue IKEA bag on our heads, trying to keep dry as it was pouring. The barber man was smoking outside his barber's shop, when he saw us you could tell he was trying so hard not to laugh. :D

It's just sinking in that on Saturday morning I have to leave this place. I've not packed a single thing, apart from a few textbooks I put in a bag as a kind of symbolic attempt.

Still, I earned £22 today for sitting through some rather boring 'training' for open days - things like what to do when people start shouting at you, and lots of people asking stupid questions about the ridiculously complicated bus system to get people around this campus, because it's so big. I'm working on an information point, so it won't be too bad.

Got my first eight hour shift at work coming up, I'm not looking forward to it at all. Especially as it involves MORE training, I've only just got used to the calls I'm taking at the moment, and now they're training me so I can take even more calls. :(

I'm trying to pack and at the same time sort out somewhere to stay up here for some open days I'm being paid to help with at the end of this month. The Uni want £25/night just to stay in a room, no food or anything provided. If I did that, there would be no point in doing the work because it wouldn't pay much more than the cost of staying up here to do it. I'm just messaging everyone I know who might be around then.

Tonight will be my last night in Halls... some things I really won't miss, like being disconnected for no reason, and stupid rules like chucking us out at 10am tomorrow.

What is with libraries and their useless bloody websites? The Hull one wouldn't let me renew books that were overdue when I couldn't get to a library so I got a huge fine and now the stupid new norfolk libraries website won't let me reserve a dvd, if I try it says I have but it doesn't appear so I blatantly haven't.

Gah!

Later I am going to birthday tea and probably going to be driven insane by a hyper 8 year old. Marvellous.

Awwwww Emma... *hug*

Had a pretty good day today, went go karting with a few mates and even though I came last in all 4 races it was still good fun (I've never driven anything before...). Now I have a lovely box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts all to myself 'cos my mate had a buy one get one free coupon. Niiiiiice. :P

So save the last dance

For me my love 'cause I

I see you as an angel freshly fallen from the sky...

Oh No!

Anything serious?

Thanks Helen and Mike.

They're breaking my actual jaw and resetting it to push it forward, because it's like, 2 millimetres from the front =/ But I have to stay in hospital for a few days afterwards.

Helen!

Where did you get the doughnuts?

I love Krispy Kreme!

    • They seem to be using James more for cover now makes me think it will be him getting weekends eitjer breakfast or 1 till 4
    • Yep am very much Capital Breakfast now. Jordan, Chris and Sian are a great trio and it's got that feel of the old shows Jordan and Chris used to do on Radio 1. It doesn't take itself too seriously but is packed full of content and slick. With Greg he's great but 6 years in you've probably heard it all before plus frankly I can sit through the Capital Playlist a lot more easily than the Radio 1 playlist (where some of the inclusions and omissions can be quite baffling at times). Plus after things like the Oscars or Met Gala or if there's a particularly big TV show or film or popstar then Greg won't half wang on about it at times. I guess it's partly to be expected with it being a Breakfast show on a young station but it can feel very London bubble and get tired.
    • Ore Olukoga is in for Arielle on Tuesday 14th May. James Cusack is in for Danny Beard on Saturday 1st June. James Cusack is in for Nat on Sunday 2nd June.
    • I honestly never thought in a million years I’d move from Radio 1 to be a regular Capital breakfast show listener. But it’s got pretty much everything I want - 3 really genuine, entertaining mates having a laugh, playing silly games and it all sounds great. I became a big fan of Chris from his days with Scott, became a Jordan fan on Going Home, and Sian Welby is newer to me but is loads of fun too.  It’s great and I’ve shocked myself by transferring my listening at breakfast. For me Greg’s show now feels very tired and it’s time for something new. But with Jordan gone that’s unlikely to happen anytime soon. Greg’s had a great run and I’m a fan - but there’s no new ideas now. I still listen to Radio 1 at other times - but this show feels like very serious competition for Greg.
    • They have built four new studios to increase capacity, alongside the existing six.  Bearing in mind that some of the output of R1, 1X, R2 & 6M comes from elsewhere, and Asian Network is gradually moving all output to Birmingham, this should be enough!
    • How do they manage to cater for 6Music and Radio 2 on that floor? Did they adapt it?
    • I think we've all figured out now how much you like it @AndyK77 😂 Personally while I think it's by far the best show on the Capital schedule and better than its predecessor, it still has the shortened songs and other commercial-radio aspects that remind me why I'm a Radio 1 fan. No matter how well this has worked out for Jordan, and all credit to him for landing the job, I can't help but feel that a Jordan and Katie show on R1 breakfast would have been so much better!
    • A few weeks in and I am actually loving the show and Jordan is a nice mix of his old chaotic self and dare I say it a slick jock.
    • He must be in his element. At Eurovision and a Gold award!
    • I really like Rylan, and as much of a fun idea it would be to have Scott and Rylan together, I think Rylan is too much of a main character.  Scott needs a side-kick rather than a full on co-host I think. That’s why he and Chris worked so well, Scott steered the show, and Chris was the perfect person to have alongside him.    I don’t religiously listen to Rylan’s show, but when I do catch it, it’s perfect weekend energy. He has a very warm presenting style too, but something makes me think he and Scott together every day would be a bit too much.
    • So pleased for Scott on his best entertainment show win. As much as I miss his R1 style, he clearly puts so much into his shows, well deserved and it’s a big two fingers up to all the abuse he has had since joining R2
    • There are a lot that share your sentiments. People have made comparisons to the different takes to Ukraine.
    • It's a big 'No' from me (Israel-Palestine). No further comments.
    • A joke about pirates: ‘but we’re not jumping ship, like someone else’
    • I felt it was much better with the staging and everything.  I still cannot warm to his voice but he's a very good performer. Ireland was everything though.
