I still don't like A Clockwork Orange. I think people assume it will be this spectacular masterpiece because it was banned but to me it's just a film with some existential undertones clothed in surrealism, becoming bogged-down and consumed by the story of the main protagonist without attempting to challenge government effectively as it should have.

Wow, there are a lot of words in there that I don't understand. I'm just gonna take it that you think it's a bad film? :P

Yeah. I think it had greater potential. I'm going to read the book soon in the hope it might enlighten me to the concept of a 'clockwork orange'.

I just bought Eternal Sunshine for £5 and 'Very Bad Things' for £3 from ASDA. Get down to your local ASDA now - they've got a sale on DVDs!! :)

Has anyone seen Very Bad Things? It's an excellent black comedy that I like lots. Well, I did last time I saw it which was a few years ago...

Did anyone watch Swordfish after all? I'm interested in opinions...

I forgot about it. But it turns out my mum watched it, and recorded it for me (how thoughtful!)

She says it was excellent, think i'll watch it during the week some time. I'll report my opinions!

I was just about to go to bed when the BBC 1 announcer said that The Breakfast club is on next.

I am sorry but this is one of the classic movies of all time so I just had to stay up and watch.

I told my daughter that the last time it was on and so she decided to watch it. I thought it might be a bit dated for her but she loved it too and agrees with me about it being one of the classics.

Anyone seen Elizabethtown?

I see that Sky is showing it at the moment and I havenever heard of it before despite the fact that Orlando is in it with Kirsten Dunst.

Shall I make a point of watching it?

I like that film. Its got a brilliant soundtrack! I'd watch it!

There's not a lot of films worth watching on TV this week.

Tonight: Good Will Hunting at 10.35pm on BBC1 with Matt Damonand buddy Ben Afleck.

Tuesday: Nothing (Avoid Pushing Tin at all costs)

Wednesday: Again nothing exciting

Thursday: Scream 2 (Channel 4 10.35pm) You know the deal with Scream movies by now

Friday: Just as crap really unless you like Jean Claude Van Damme in Timecop

The way forward though this week would be to rent something or get something cheap from your Supermarket. We bought Goodfellows and The Shawshank Redemption both cheap from Tesco this week.

Also very happy to hear that Sam Mendes is directing a new film due in 2008 called Revolutionary Road (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0959337/) with wife Kate Winslett and Leonardo De Caprio. Sam Mendes was the man behind American Beauty and Jarhead and Road to Perdition.

Anyone heard of a film that is in production at the moment called Miss P? I was in London last weekend and there were signs up saying filming in progress. We were on a Ghost walk and our guide stopped to ask them what they were filming and was told it was called "Miss P". There were vans with loads of old fashioned things in them Prams, household stuff etc and this car:

The spectacle of the first half was great (I saw it in the cinema with a *great* sound setup - the sound the aliens made literally shook bones). But the second half in the basement/shack is not so brilliant. Oddly for a Spielberg film - normally the pace for this type of film from him is pretty relentless.

I am glad I am not the only one to be disappointed. My daughter thinks it is brilliant so I thought I would too.

Last night I watched a film called "October sky" which starred Jake Gyllenhall. It was about a bunch of boys that decide to build a rocket and enter into the science fare at school.

It was really good and although I was meant to be working on the computer with the film on in the background, I didn't get much work done.

I really like it when I put a film on that I have never heard of as you have no expectations then. Much recommended!
